I was quite astonished when I discovered this newly opened travel agents, in the heart of London -…read morea stone's throw from Oxford Street. It's a glamorous outlet - deceptively spacious - unlike any travel agents that I've ever come across previously. Even more extraordinary, given the current economic climate. On entering, you'll see a huge world map, on one side of the wall, stickered with comments from happy travellers. To the other side, there's a comfy and inviting sofa with a plasma screen behind it. Take a seat and you'll be offered a drink, as you contemplate and ponder your next trip. There are only around six staff - with booking screens - in spite of the impressive size of the premises. It's set-up to enthuse and inspire the traveller, with space to dream and inform yourself. On my recent visit I had a lengthy chat and explored some ideas, confirming that one of my dream destinations will realise itself on my agendaone day. I wasn't made to feel pressurised, or ill-at-ease, although I didn't make a booking there and then. Instead, I was encouraged to return and experience one of their special evening events (I haven't had the chance to yet). During 'normal' office hours, it's a 'pure' travel agents (albeit luxurious and super client-friendly) but venture here in the evening and you might find it transformed into an exotic destination, featuring themed dancing and festivities. It quite turns the trend for isolated exploration, from the 'comfort' of your lonely keyboard, on its head and re-inspires enthusiasm for the expertise and input of a real travel specialist. I'll definitely consider returning when I'm ready to book, or if I'm close to the area and fancy a quick 'escape', or some enticing inspiration.

Like everyone else on this forum, I had a trip cancelled by Fleetway due to Covid-19 and have been…read moretold there will be no refunds. But wait - the carrier for my trip (Iceland Air) has announced free re-booking for all trips affected by the crisis. My bet would be that most reputable hotels are also offering the same. However, I have been told that I cannot change my plans with the airline or hotel without the information in my final documents. At this point only Fleetway can make the adjustments. That means that Fleetway actually holds the value of ALL of our trips in hand - and they intend to re-book others on the flights and hotels we have already paid for. In essence this is the direct theft of our money - and a scam on the travel insurance companies, since our reservations are still available to be used. Reputable companies like Gate1 are giving vouchers equaling the full price of the trip, to be redeemed in the future. That would be fine, if Fleetway offered it, but they are cheating everyone involved. Hopefully, the insurance companies will get together and sue Fleetway. In the meantime, I recommend that all Fleetway customers call their credit card companies and request a reversal of fees. It seems to be the only way to hold them to account, and to get what we have paid for. THE day we were supposed to leave from SFO we got an email from fleetway says oops sorry we cannot change your dates and you will lose your entire vacation package. How does this happen when I have a written communication saying quite the contrary? When I sent the email chain to ask that the credit confirmation be honored the correspondence from London ceased as if I'd just been a victim of an internet scam. My husband and I have traveled extensively and never had a travel agent experience like this.

They then sent a really easy to understand itinerary and all i had to do was go and enjoy myself. The problems come if you want to change anything on the ticket later as you have to contact the airline yourself directly rather than have Global Village sort it for you. This wasn't always easy as i was in SE Asia and contacting airlines was inconvenient and expensive. Trying to reroute the ticket was even harder! I unexpectedly had to come back to the UK and didn't complete the RTW route. I contacted Global Village for assistance but they were unable and seemingly unwilling to help. It seemed to me that once the ticket is sold there is no after-sales care or service.

Fortunately, we had an excellent travel agency who really took extra care in fulfilling all our needs, specially traveling with a baby. They gave several traveling options, with different airlines, different prices and different places to stop-over. We wanted to stay in Mexico for a couple of days, they took care of that and gave us loads of information on where to best spend our time with the few days we had. You can really tell they specialize in multi-stop and discount worldwide flights for a reason, because they are good at it. They also arrange hotels and insurance giving you what best suits your needs and budget.
