Like everyone else on this forum, I had a trip cancelled by Fleetway due to Covid-19 and have been told there will be no refunds. But wait - the carrier for my trip (Iceland Air) has announced free re-booking for all trips affected by the crisis. My bet would be that most reputable hotels are also offering the same. However, I have been told that I cannot change my plans with the airline or hotel without the information in my final documents. At this point only Fleetway can make the adjustments. That means that Fleetway actually holds the value of ALL of our trips in hand - and they intend to re-book others on the flights and hotels we have already paid for. In essence this is the direct theft of our money - and a scam on the travel insurance companies, since our reservations are still available to be used. Reputable companies like Gate1 are giving vouchers equaling the full price of the trip, to be redeemed in the future. That would be fine, if Fleetway offered it, but they are cheating everyone involved. Hopefully, the insurance companies will get together and sue Fleetway. In the meantime, I recommend that all Fleetway customers call their credit card companies and request a reversal of fees. It seems to be the only way to hold them to account, and to get what we have paid for.
