( SEVENOAKS, HIGH STREET - not maidstone, as there be a mistake with the Qype system)…read more I went to have allergy test today at Especially Health with Peter Colins. Basically this health shop wins hands down to stores such as Julian Graves and Holland & Barret, which are in walking distance on Sevenoaks High Street. This independent store has professionals and practitioners and the like to dish out advise plus they have regular talks on health issues ( do check their website for further details etcI am actually thinking of attending, as they seem worth while. They stock far more products than the bigger names and there is more than enough staff to be your personal assistant. I heard about this store from my nan who is a big believer in alternative treatment, as are we all. I thought I was allergic to yeast, which means beer and bread and the like but turns out, I need to lay out the Dairy and other foods that don't agree with me. Being a student meant indulging in cheaper foods and a complete shift in lifestyle, and it was showing through my eyes. This is where Peter Colins the Great got his handy allergy testing machine to find the root of my problem. It is all done through a pressing motion to side of a pressure point in the finger. All electronics no need to draw blood. It detects your energy and energy of different allergy sources and sees what is and isn't compatible. It only costs £55, and he recommends different medications and alternative foods. I will be on this detox for 2 monthsi will let you all know my progress. But from my nans experience and her friends this allergy tests seems to solve most problems, could probably solve world peace X 'Take snow for instance, if you look closer each snow flake is different, each individual is different' This is where docs go wrong, for treating a group instead of looking deeper into the individual I hope this helps : )

Muesli Mountain is great- if you haven't yet stumbled across it, I suggest you check it out pronto!…read moreHidden away in a yard behind Queen's Park Rd, it is essentially a mini open market, with stalls selling all sorts of yummy food and interesting arts and crafts produced locally. The ethos is basically local local local! It's a really lovely alternative place to pick up freshly made bread (from the Lighthouse bakery) and organic fruit and veg. At the moment there is a stall selling and renting (!) live Xmas trees in pots and there is also a great selection of Christmassy gift ideas. You can even pick up sustainably sourced logs and kindling for lovely winter open fires. The market is open every day except Sunday and if you live in the Hanover area it's a really great resource. Even if you live further afield, Muesli Mountain is worth a trek. It is an inspired project with a lovely atmosphere- one of those little gems that makes you so grateful you live in Brighton.

Think Local, Buy Local, BE Local…read more As straplines go, Museli Mountain Market's is short, sweet and spot on. Run by a team of Hanover residents, it's an open market that aims to provide other locals with a space to meet, chat and learn how to be more sustainable. There's fresh organic fruit, salad and vegetables from local farms and allotments, gorgeous bread from Lighthouse Bakery and store cupboard essentials like pasta, rice, flour and cereals. They also sell local seeds and plants, cleaning products and Ecover refills. As a girl with a sweet-tooth, my only grumble is the lack of fresh and tasty, locally baked cakes!

The prices have gone up and it's trying to be a bit more trendy now (think organic & vegan options). The cakes still look delicious but if you knew it as it was before, you might be a bit disappointed.

This venerable Hastings bakery in the Old Town knows how to make artisanal breads and pastries, and organic to boot.. I was delighted to see it was open during an early morning stroll. There was already a line at 8 Am, one lady buying an entire basket of breads, rolls etc. Not to be deterred, I waited and stuffed myself with a what was like a raisin sticky bun, fresh and delicate and chock full of butter and I am sure, calories. It was divine. I also ordered a sausage pastie for the bf, a vegetarian pastie and a cheese and sweet onion relish one. The were all in a flaky crust, and substantial..the cheese and onion one was delicious, the onion relish lending an interesting flavor to the cheese. It was large enough to be a meal. Did I say I didn't even try their famous bread? Oh hurt me. So much good food and so little stomach room. That's what I get for dining on a scone and some peel away shrimp before I get to Judges. Judges also sells bottled drinks, prepared foods, soups, biscuits etc on the side. It looks more like a small gourmet organic shop that sells baked goods than your standard bakery. Service was with the usual British friendliness and grace. Kudos to Judges for reinvention. From on Old Town bakery to THE IT BAKERY.
