First, before we moved to the area, the staff was super kind and helpful. The owner was willing to do a virtual tour to help us make feel comfortable with the school. Since attending, our daughter learned sign language, practiced yoga, learned Spanish, and made a ton of friends/attended multiple birthday parties. She loved her teachers, the school is very secure, and is in a wonderful location nestled near some woods, but still in a convenient Yorktown location. My daughter even came home one day with tomatoes from their garden! We got tadpole updates daily with photos (LOVE that as a working mom) and the school communicated super well during COVID spikes. I have extremely high standards for the people who care for my children and Goddard exceeded all of them!

Out of all of her teachers, there's maybe 2 that were good. The rest lacked the training and developmental understanding of young children. I expected more from The Goddard school. My daughter was well behaved but has ADHD. At the time she was too young to be diagnosed. My daughter had been screened for autism and she did not have it. One of her teachers who was not trained in child development nor mental health took it upon herself to hand write me a rude note and leave it in her bag telling me she thought she had autism. It was unprofessional, and frankly offensive. The staff claimed they addressed it, but the teacher never apologized. My daughter was treated like an outcast by some of teachers (not all.) She had 2 really great teachers. I wish she could've just stayed with them instead of moving forward. A lot of the teachers lacked compassion and seem overwhelmed. I can very honestly say that instead of trying to support my child they deemed her as not good enough. She wasn't ill behaved. She didn't hit or kick other children. She simply struggled with not sitting still and focusing. They made me feel like my daughter was defective. Goddard didn't help my daughter the way I expected. It was a disappointing and pricey experience. Now that she's in public school her teachers love her and she's at the top of her class. That's not because of Goddard. That's because she's in a better environment. One more thing, you will be charged during the holidays when they are closed. Get ready to pay even more for additional childcare during that time.

DISCLAIMER - this is based on my personal experience:…read more Five stars for ABUSE and duplicity. Zero stars for caring for children, honesty, integrity, accountability. My 2 year old child knows the fear and havoc of ABUSE (physical and emotional) from this school and 'teachers'. My 2 year old (two!!) has NIGHTMARES about this place and the ABUSE she suffered at the hands of the staff here in May of 2019. The abuse was covered up and denied (it is a family-run business). My child detailed to me being hit, thrown, yelled at and threatened. The details were consistent, credible and enduring (over weeks and now months) and matched by the sudden onset of symptoms of PTSD (night terrors, screaming, heightened emotional states, moodiness, extra clingy, uncharacteristic outbursts, etc). Specifically, she did not want to participate in the 'graduation dance' practice and was trying to stay quietly hidden. My child has explained how the lead teacher snatched her arm, pulled her so hard she fell, while yelling at her, hit her across the chest and torso, then when my child was crying and screaming for her to stop, the teacher picked her up over her head and threw her, like a medicine ball, down on a wood-framed bench, she then told my child to repeat again and again that my child had tripped and fallen all on their own. I confronted the staff and the perpetrator's husband (also a teacher there) provided additional confirming details, unsolicited, to me. The owner (and mother in law of the perpetrator) told me that this was 'just family'. As I told her then, this is absolutely not how you treat family - or anyone, especially children. I thought that would be obvious. I ache for the children who are still there and am deeply concerned for their welfare. Please, please, please do not submit your children to this. These folks act one way in front of adults and parents and another when it's just children. I am ashamed and embarrassed we ever had our children in this place and were unaware of this sad and abysmal conduct for so long. We had other children there (over years) and after this incident asked I them if they had ever been abused or seen abuse. Thank God, both older kids had not been personally abused but both confirmed they had witnessed other incidents with other kids who had been hit, abused and threatened. A police and child protective services report was made and investigations conducted but the family-staff denied any wrong doing. Did I mention that this is a family business - so ethics and money are deeply intertwined here (if they could be said to have any ethics). Sadly, my two year old was not able to be a witness due to age, and this facility does not have video cameras - now I know why. It was left at a 'he said-she said' case...but in this case one of those people is a 2 year old child who has no motives other than to return and reflect love. The initial review was taken down due to 'lack of detail', I suspect after the business complained about the bad review (in fact a member of their family threatened me using this service!). I hope this suffices by providing more detail. I recommend you do not go here. I hope police shut this place down. But until then, you can do it by not giving them your business. Ever. Again, I disclaim that this is my personal opinion and experience with this business. I encourage you to make up your own mind, with the safety of your children foremost.

Second Mrs. Melissa is the worst child care person I have met. She seems like she does not like children at all and hates her job. I am shocked she has been there this long. She barely says good morning in the morning, is not friendly at all. When I drop my son off she barely pays attention to him, minding you that he is the second one there. She lets babies cry for long periods of time before she even goes and attends to them. She is always using negative words and mishandling the babies. When I randomly visited she would just be cleaning and letting the babies cry and by the look on her face she was not happy I would randomly check on my son. She would not give me any updates on how she was doing. She barely talks. One day she was mopping the floor while a baby was crawling on it and picking up food and putting it in her mouth. Other then Mrs. Melissa, I was very unhappy about the feeding and communication from everyone. They never told me what my daughter did other then their daily report that just tells me when he eats and sleeps. Another thing, my baby was on breastmilk and I would bring his breastmilk bottles only to find out at the end of the day that instead of using the milk I brought, they gave him water or regular milk. One day they even gave her formula????!! I was infuriated since she has never ever had formula..because i breastfeed! and she is pass one to be on formula. After repeately telling them to feed her milk 3 times a day with her meal, my daughter goes with only 4 oz of milk in 8 hours, how is this possible??? She breastfeed 3 hours when we got home that day. They are terrible, please do not pick this child care for your child. One more thing- even the last day I was very dissapointed. I made sure to give the director my 2 week notice 3 weeks early just to come in and the teachers did not know anything about it. They were shocked that it was her last day. No communication what soever, even though the director also helps out in this room, how can she missed out this information??

Most kindercares don't open until 630 but because they have so many military families enrolled their doors open at 530! Also my sons breast feed and I was worried about pumping and giving him a bottle but he does just fine and looks at them like they hung the moon when they feed him his perfectly warm magic juice. Also they're super clean and sanitary! I mean they don't let you walk into the class without the medical booties on, they wipe down your kids crib(which no one else is allowed in) everyday and the changing pad has the throw away paper(Sorry trees). Just give this place a try. They were my last resort for care and I regret that so much. They will always be my sons favorite place to spend the day if he can't be home with me.
