My son went up and notified the nurse his mother was on the floor in pain. they told him they thought I left And then she said she was sorry that there was 2 people with cardiac arrest. I understand that they have priority, but they should have been taken to ICU or something, the whole ER shut down and there was only about 6 people waiting in the waiting room. they were way understaffed and the triage nurse had to work in the back room , poor management . I ended up leaving and going to Weirton medical where I was taken in right away. i Can only imagine what would happen if there was some emergency or accident where a group of people got hurt, they are not staffed equipped at Trinity west to take care of it.

I visited this hospital about a year ago for a dog bite. They put me in a closet, a literal closet…read moreand put a Band-Aid on my finger and charged me $1100. OK that's fine but then I just found out that all the doctors that work at this weirton medical emergency center. The doctors don't actually work for WVU or Weirton medical they work for a company called Team Health and they can charge you whatever they want because they are a separate company and none of the doctors that work in that emergency room work for that hospital directly. WVU doesn't notify you or tell you any of that when going to the emergency room and on the back of the WVU bills they don't notify you that a separate company called Greenbriar will contact to collect money... so you can pay for the doctor that you saw that night... that's right you have to pay for your doctor separately or PA in the emergency room and the $1100 was for the closet and the Band-Aid!!! The medical system in the pharmaceutical system is absolutely corrupt!!

They do not work with payment plans either - unless you can meet their outrageous idea of a monthly payment. Not only were we charged for the ER visit, doctor, radiology, etc - we were also charged $40 for coming in after hours. Seriously, if it was during the day, we would have went to our family doctor. Believe me, I tried to work with them for payment - I paid what I could, but they still turned me over to a collection agency, who then called my FORMER neighbors regarding the fact that I owe money to them. Not sure if that is even legal, but save yourself the aggrevation and embarrassment and go elsewhere. Honestly, my daughter is a gymnast and we have been in many ER's for broken bones (unfortunately) and Weirton Medical does not compare to the others. We took her there because of the closeness of the center, but will NEVER go back again.
