Extremely pleased with my first appointment at Studio L! I booked with Lisa online, which was so…read moreconvenient. After reaching out to Lisa about pricing and the services I wanted, she personally called me to discuss my concerns which I really appreciated. Lisa is the owner of Studio L, and is extremely professional, skilled, and friendly. She listened to what I exactly wanted, and offered her recommendations. I originally came in to get highlights, but she thought a balayage would be better for my hair. I ended up loving how my hair turned out! I think I found my go to hair stylist in Baltimore! Highly recommend!

Having lived in Baltimore for some time now, I have tried several hair salons and stylists. This…read moreis partially due to my desire to try something new and freshen up my look every few months. Lisa, at Studio L, is one of my favorite hair stylists and her salon provides such a great experience. Nested right by the Dizz in Remington, this row home converted to a salon provides an atmosphere that is warm and inviting. She has refreshments to sip while you wait and various products, if interested, to try in your hair. I really appreciate that she's never tried to sell me products especially if I'm not particularly interested in them. She is great at looking at an image I bring in or description of what type of look I'm going for and matching it. I trust her with my hair color and my hair cut and refer my dearest friends to her. Most importantly, she is affordable! She never rushes your cut and color but does respect that your time is valuable. She makes her customers feel like they're the top priority in the salon. She has also used products on my hair that are particularly safe and not filled with harsh chemicals.

Their new location is a lot more spacious and inviting with a lot less parking but its usually pretty easy in and out. I havent gone much during covid but when i did go they were fully masked and distanced so id feel safe going again, COVID just havent given me many reasons to get a fresh blow out.

This salon did my daughter's hair recently and there were a couple of things that didn't sit well…read morew/me: 1. The staff didn't greet us warmly when we walked in and the stylist never said "hello" to us, nor was her tone friendly, as it should be when speaking with children. 2. My daughter's African- American but fluent in Spanish, she relayed to me that the stylist kept saying her hair was so short in Spanish. As though there's something negative about short hair. The entire service was $81 for a style that required no chemicals, I typically pay max $60 for this same style. On top of that, the style hasn't lasted because my daughter has natural hair that wasn't straightened out first. It seemed she wasn't trained or just didn't bother to work w/textured hair properly. What bothers me most is African-American woman have trusted Dominicans w/our beautiful hair even though many of their products, and styling methods, are not for our hair type and they don't care enough to learn our hair and work with it properly. And in some cases, they talk negatively about our hair texture, being to hard to comb or short, in Spanish, but take your money. Just because you don't like your African ancestry doesn't mean I don't love mine- I'm done, no mas!
