Never been to a church service here, but my siblings have participated in many piano recitals here. Lovely sanctuary, plain with a high ceiling and nice decoration on the walls. Served the young pianists of the Wheaton area well. read more

After being raised in a small Bible church in Elmhurst, and then attending a large church for a…read morebunch of years, I felt lost and disconnected. I wasn't growing, and that's not a good place to be spiritually. I needed to get back to a smaller congregation and connected with others. Attending Compass feels like "home." They have a few other campuses, but this review is of their Wheaton campus. PASTOR/TEACHING: First off, Pastor Jeff Griffin is the BEST pastor I've ever had. Hands down. He's funny, and passionate and often uses props to help illustrate what he's teaching. He is also unassuming, humble and joyful. He doesn't wear a fancy suit and shoes, making you feel you're at a fashion show rather than church! He is just like you and me. He tells of his shortcomings and struggles as a Christian and so you can relate to him. Pastor Jeff also puts scripture verses up on the screens, and then breaks them down into chunks to really study the meaning. This is how I learn best - and I learn something EVERY single week at this church. Compass took over the old Wheaton Evangelical Free Church, and is still non-denominational, evangelical-free church with Biblically sound teaching. It's been updated a bit and feels a little more contemporary than the old church. But just as warm. I'm growing a lot at Compass, and so many of the sermons are very timely in my life right now - I know I am there for a reason. MINISTRIES/ACTIVITIES: They have a wonderful children's program, adult ministries, fun extra activities, a great worship (Nate is awesome!!! He needs to make an album! I also want to set him up with my sister lol), and some very kind, non-judgmental people in administration. They are truly a great representation of Christ. THEY CARE: One thing I have to share is how considerate this church is. I had written on a prayer card that I was having surgery, and after surgery they had "get well" flowers delivered to my home. I'd received nothing from good friends (cards, phone calls, etc.), but I did from my new church. Not long after that, my mother passed away. I briefly mentioned it an e-mail response to a woman who works at Compass. A few days later, I received a beautiful plant with flowers! These sentiments meant SO much to me. The trials I've been going through have been rough, and knowing the church is there for me if I need them means great deal. NIT: Just one tiny nit - and I'm really not complaining. I wish they had a consistent women's Bible study in the evenings. I get home from work at 6pm, and so it would be great to have a 6:30 study that met consistently throughout the year. I have a hard time connecting with other women otherwise. I know they have small groups for couples, and my husband and I are looking to join one. I need to connect more here and hoping to do so soon!

It's a place where more and more people of all ages are getting involved in serving people within the congregation, and those in need out in the community. We believe in 1 Peter 4:10: "Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms." It's amazing what God gives people a vision to create and how others join together to make it happen. You wouldn't think so, but somehow the combination of historic giant pipe organ hymns, and the energy from our pastoral staff preaching the word of God, ignites my soul more than when I attended a non-denominational church with a loud rock band. Liturgical and non-liturgical people feel welcome here. Together we are asking the Lord to give us the grace to make new disciples who will honor, glorify and serve Him. And that He will introduce us to new people who want to be part of the family of God at St. Mark's. It's a great place to call home.

I love listening to Pastor Colin preach. I usually listen to him on Moody radio (90.1fm at 8:30pm Mon.-Fri.) and I've heard him preach elsewhere before and he just brings the bible to life in such a clear and humble way I hope to attend the Barrington campus one of these days, but for those in this area: come here

I had been to Willow Creek Church off and on, but when my sister-in-law Rita invited me to The Well in Geneva, I felt something I hadn't in a long time: peace. From the very first time I walked through the doors, I was welcomed with open arms. The warmth, the authenticity, and the presence of God in that place are undeniable. My brother-in-law Keith is on the worship team, and watching him use his gift for God adds a personal touch every week. Pastor Jerry is a blessing. His teaching is deeply rooted in Scripture, but also full of real-life wisdom and love. His wife Carrie sings on the worship team--her voice reminds me of Amy Grant, maybe even a little better. Her singing touches the soul. What truly amazes me is the worship itself. A few of the singers on the team could easily be gold-record artists, but they've chosen to pour out their talents right here for the glory of God. That kind of humility and heart is rare--and it brings tears to my eyes. Pastor Shannon also speaks with such passion and purpose, especially to the younger generation. It's clear that this church is planting seeds of faith in all ages. The Well Church has not only been a place of worship for me--it's been a sanctuary. A place where I've felt God's presence so clearly. A place that helped me through grief. A place that gave me family in my deepest sorrow. Rita, my sister-in-law, has walked with me in grief counseling and faith, and The Well has been her hands and feet. I now look forward to every Sunday. It's close to home, but more than that--it feels like home. If you're hurting, searching, or simply looking for a place where God's love pours out freely, come to The Well. It may just change your life like it did mine.

My perception from prior experiences with those who claimed to be a dedicated Christian was that they would step over a starving baby to run the sound board at the church. I could not understand why the ones that need the most help were looked down on or turned away. With the little knowledge I received from Sunday School this totally contradicted what I thought Jesus wanted. Knowing now I was in no place to judge, and I could have been mistaken about those previously mentioned. I have been blessed to witness at the Well so many compassionate acts I could never come close to list them all. If I have to share one thing is that becoming a Christian tomorrow is scary. The pressure of being perfect and giving up all the fun stuff was overwhelming to me. Knowing now that all I need to do was open my ears and heart and the holly sprit gradually filled my soul with a love I do not deserve. I don't need everyone to hear me say I'm a Christian But I need everyone to see Christ in me. I want to say thank you to every person at the Well for making it what it is!
