Hamilton Monument & boulder he rested on after being shot, Weehawken, N.j.
    Anton K.

Located in lower Manhattan near the New York Stock Exchange, Trinity Church Cemetery was founded in 1697 Not to be confused with two other Trinity Churches, this cemetery holds the remains of Robert Fulton (steamboat), Albert Gallatin (Sec. of the Treasury & President of New York University) but more notably the final resting place of ALEXANDER HAMILTON, his wife Elizabeth Schuyler and her sister Angelica Schuyler. He is buried near the South fence of the Cemetery. I have also included photos of The "Dueling Grounds" in Weehawken, N.j. where Hamilton was fatally shot by Aaron Burr (Vice President) above the right hip. There is a monument at the Weehawken site right above the "Dueling Grounds" and the rock he rested upon before he was ferried to New York City where he died a day later.

BURIAL GROUND: The historic Cemetery is located on the grounds of TRINITY CHURCH near CITY HALL and the WTC site. The Burial Site of important and influential men in AMERICAN history. Among the buried here are ALEXANDER HAMILTON, JOHN WATTS and ROBERT FULTON. Both the Church and the Cemetery are a popular Tourist destination. WORTH VISITING.

I used to cross the cemetery to go to my high school every day. It is a small cemetery where Alexander Hamilton and his wife, Elizabeth are buried. There's a statue for Alexander Hamilton and other statues residing in this cemetery. The cemetery is all around Trinity Church and is very green with several benches and trees. It is a a popular landmark for tourists to visit.

A cemetery that is located or part of Trinity Church. It is surrounded by buildings in the busy Financial District area. It is free to walk around the cemetery. The cemetery has a statue of Alexander Hamilton and is where he is resting. Many tourists come here to take photos. I would say this is one of the landmark of NYC.

We have been near or went by this cemetery many times since we've been to NYC. Until recently we stopped to see Alexander Hamilton's grave. Which was a surprise that Albert Gallatin is located here as well. Albert Gallatin is huge to me because of the local area I was raised and grew up in. Albert Gallatin is the name of the school district that I graduated High School from. In addition to that name carrying many areas with the name of Albert Gallatin something. It was nice to see where he's laid to rest The grounds are amazing. They have "secret service" almost like, security in black suites guarding the area during the day.

I must say when I was in college in a small town the cemetery was a favorite place to hang out. It was green with trees and a lot of history. When my daughter and I went to Paris we visited several cemeteries. They are truly beautiful there. Maybe it's the location of this cemetery or this stage of my life, but I went because of my visitor. I knew the type of things she may enjoy. She specifically requested a visit to the World Trade Center and surrounding area. If you visit this cemetery also visit the St. Paul's Chapel. There is an entrance from the cemetery into the Chapel. We were lucky it was open the day we visited. This church cemetery and Chapel are old, old. Read inscriptions. I find it interesting and spooky at the same time. It's a small cemetery so it won't take long to visit. Everyone enjoys seeing and doing different things when they visit NYC. People ask me all the time what do I recommend. I recommend you do the things that interest YOU! Churches, cemeteries, museums, cabarets, theater, whatever your bag is, do it! And I highly recommend searching YELP. My NYC Yelp Friends can be trusted. Do your research and if you go to a cemetery go to visit, not to stay.

Funny you can do a review for a cemetery. Of course Trinity Church is not an ordinary cemetery. This is the resting side for famous people like Alexander Hamilton. A few other founding fathers have graves. The church is still functioning so you have to be respectful of that. It would help to know the layout first. If you're going the first time and don't know where graves are, you can have a hard time finding a few. There are gravestones on the north and south sides of the church, so be sure to look at both sides. Hamilton's is on the south side of the church. He has a large and pointy white gravestone. Just look for the crowd and you will find it. It's along the iron fence. There are tour guides that will tell you stories you probably already have heard about, especially if you have seen the musical, which has made this a very popular site. Just be respectful when going. It's still an active church. The clergy will gladly answer questions about gravesites.

During my Pace University days and post- Pace University employment in Financial District I occasionally came to Trinity Church Cemetery in search for hope, stillness, solitude and peace. This cemetery is located in the church yard of St. Paul's Chapel. Here lies "Bell Of Hope" a gift from London, England. Notable burials are: Alexander Hamilton (1755-1804), American revolutionary patriot and "founding father"; first U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Francis Lewis (1713-1802), signer of the Declaration of Independence Albeit this cemetery is small but it does bear significance as built in 1766, the oldest surviving church building in Manhattan existing since colonial NYC during the American Revolutionary War. Trinity Church Cemetery is not very elaborate or lavish with ornate headstones nor contain elaborate mausoleum as the ones I've visited in Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris, France but it is still worthy to visit for a time to honor and respect. Many headstones are eroded due to prolong exposure to rain, snow, air pollution, dilapidated, and as the writing are not visible, many chipped forgotten which is very sad as the plot becomes an unknown individual. If you like U.S. history you would appreciate this visit.

This is a beautiful cemetery and very well-kept. It is full of historical names and it's very inspiring and emotional to go look at. We were on our way to see Hamilton on Broadway and stopped here to see his grave. There were some construction going on and we were in allowed to go into the cemetery but it was nice to be able to see the headstones from the street.

Most people come for the older "inhabitants"--most famously Alexander Hamilton, but you can also find signers of the Declaration of Independence, members of the Continental Congress and other historical figures like Robert Fulton (inventor of the steamboat). Located smack dab in the middle of downtown Manhattan, right on Broadway & close to Wall Street, if you're in the area, it's worth a visit, even though there is a lack of information available for visitors & no map exists of who is buried where, which is a big disappointment.

How can anyone possibly adequately review a cemetery with such historical significance?! Trinity Church Cemetery is where Alexander Hamilton and his wife (possibly his son Phillip) are laid to rest alongside many historical figures in our country's history. At the time we visited, the cemetery was closed for renovation and so was the church but we were able to look through the fence and see Alexander Hamilton's site and many other headstones dating back to the Revolutionary War. Trinity Church is also near Ground Zero and has historical significance being impacted by the 9/11 tragedy. Definitely a memorable experience and worth a visit.

*** FYI, they are currently doing renovations in the cemetery and on Trinity Church itself so the vibes are a bit different with workers and construction. This cemetery is beautiful in that it's a patch of green in Wall Street and for the incredible architecture, monuments/statues, and history. If you have even a semblance of appreciation for history, enjoyment of sculpture, or respect for the dead, make Trinity Church Cemetery a stop while you're down south. We really enjoyed the different iterations of the English language on gravestones throughout the years here ("Here lies" vs. "Here lyes"). If you have time to stop and read through all of them, you may feel a connection to humankind as many experience in cemeteries, especially older ones. Alexander and Eliza Hamilton's graves are covered in pennies, which I'm guessing is a way to show respect for his creation of the national bank? If you are so inclined, don't forget yours at home! PROS: Beautiful statues. Interesting gravestones. Monuments are gorgeous. Greenery and benches to relax. Alexander/Eliza Hamilton's tombs are a treat to visit. The historical significance of these graves is powerful. CONS: You can't walk out expect through the front gate so if you're visiting both sides you'll need to walk around the back of the church to leave at the moment.

A hauntingly beautiful oasis in a sea of skyscrapers. It is both somber and meditative. The tombstones are historically aged.

When searching for direct cremation services after the death of a loved one, I called three places in Manhattan. Pricing was comparable but the conversations seemed impersonal, cold, and purely transactional. While I'm sure these other places provide fine services, my call to GV Funeral Home was the first conversation that felt warm and personal. They conveyed condolences (which in my experience was not standard protocol amongst others) and expressed a personal interest in my family's needs. By the time I visited to do our paperwork, I had spoken to multiple individuals at their business who all introduced themselves. My father, an older man, was the next of kin, and they took the time to ensure he understood what he was signing. The same level of care over the phone was further exemplified in person. There are many places that offer this type of service, but dealing with funeral directors Gregory and Jennifer reassured me that I was getting the care my loved one deserved. The exceptional level of service at GV Funeral Home helped alleviate the pressure of what is otherwise an incredibly difficult time.
