This C.H.O.I.C.E school is a (free) public Montessori elementary school in Delray Beach with a…read morepeace and justice component. All students are selected by lottery after their parents submit them through the CHOICE application, which is due in January of the year before. A unique thing about this school is that it is 1 of 2 public elementary schools in the entire County that accepts 3 year olds into a full-time day program. This is 1 year before VPK, and instead of a half-day program (like VPK), this is a full-day, from 8am-2pm. This is kind of incredible, as we were able to put our 3 year old into school rather than daycare, which is much preferable, as well as cost-saving. However, in order to take advantage of this, you have to submit an application while your child is 2 years old, and most parents are not thinking about applying to the school board website after being a parent for only a couple of years. 3 year olds are put in a mixed classroom of a small group of 3, 4, and 5 year old children, with a lead teacher and an assistant, in a classroom that has Montessori elements to it. All teachers here have received additional schooling in Montessori education, and many have been teaching at the school for decades (as well as having sent their own children to this school). This speaks volumes about the institution itself. We have experienced wonderful care from the teachers here. Spady's official website, like most PBC public school's sites, is confusing and lacks basic information. I knew very little about this school before applying to the program, due to the overwhelming and convoluted system that the School board administers, which is way behind the times. I would love to see a modern website with basic information about the school displayed. If you're reading this, I encourage you to write a review for your children's school, so that parent voices and experiences can shine and help fill in current gaps in information and content.

My son Jeremy S. went to Kentwood Prep High School starting in 9th grade and graduated in 2014. He…read moreis now a high school teacher after successfully graduating from University of South Florida with honors (Magna Cum Laude) and on the deans list every year. Kentwood Prep was a godsend for us. Jeremy was very smart but also had issues with behavior. Instead of trying to convince us to medicate him like the public schools always did, they actually allowed him to attend without the ADHD meds. The teachers he had were excellent and not only did he receive a first class education, he also learned important life skills that public schools do not teach anymore. I believe his time at Kentwood Prep was a huge influence on his decision to become a high school teacher. He knows it was caring dedicated teachers that made all the difference in the world for him and his future. The public school system is sometimes not a good fit for kids with behavioral issues who need a different approach. Kentwood Prep sets up their kids to succeed not only in the time they are there but in college and in life.

My son came from an at home daycare and was learning to adjust to this new school environment and the teachers lacked compassion, or even the decency to try and help my son adjust. Instead, they decided to say we should take my son elsewhere to adjust and then we could bring him back when he's adjusted to the school environment. And let me tell you, that will never happen. For the amount we paid, the least they could do was show compassion to the new student who is new to the school environment. But instead, they said "the teachers don't have time to help just one child". Never once was there violence, or bad behavior towards other children but my child was asked to leave because he did not adjust as fast as they wanted. So again, if your child is not perfect, I do not recommend this daycare.

Everyday I drop off and pick up they greet him by his name. His teachers are beyond amazing!! Even with his advancement in classes his previous teachers still check on him Mrs. Eva. His current teachers are Mrs. Maria, Ana, and Sara and I am so thankful for them. My son loves Mrs. Maria so much every morning he runs to his class and runs to give Mrs. Maria a hung, and his eyes light up when he sees her. I have to also give credit to Miss. Sue the cook. She is always happy and smiling and my son gets so excited when he sees her! Thank you to all the amazing staff even the ones I wasn't able to mention for everything you do for all the kids!!!

I still have 1 granddaughter in the school, this being her last year. They have very cute little programs. They do special holiday shows and special dinners with parents. Used to be parents and grandparents could also go but apparently they changed that to just parents. Your child will excel at this school and be very happy there as will the parents. My grandchildren had or still have Miss Marie who is lovely. Give your child a great experience of their first time attending school without you. This school is wonderful.
