They found an issue with the brakes that the seller had a warranty on from a different repair shop, and we were able to have new brake pads, rotors, and calipers from the shop that honored the warranty. It breaks my heart to be writing this review because I have finally found the best auto mechanic in town and unfortunately I will be moving out of state next week. Like many other car owners, I used to despise going to the mechanics for fear of being scammed out of money by being told of repairs that my car does not need. I did not have this fear the past year after finding Trinity Automotive. Dave and Jessica, the owners, and their team are SO nice, honest, and professional. They make sure to explain every service that goes to your car. Not even specific to auto mechanic shops, their customer service is unmatched by any other store I have ever been to! Even seeing their interactions with other guests you can tell they genuinely make personal connections with each of their customers. I hate getting my car worked on. The part I hate most is trying to find a good place to bring it to that will do a good job and not rip me off. The place I normally go to (not Trinity Automotive) is my go to because it's cheap, but that's really their only great quality. They do a decent job with generally poor customer service and I never fully trust what they're saying. Well my van's A/C went out and I needed it fixed. My normal place was full so I did some looking and found Trinity had by far the best reviews in my area. I called and set up an appointment and got a pretty good quote for an A/C recharge (I compared it to a few others). I went in knowing that there may end up being more costs depending on the reason it was blowing hot air in the first place. I also inquired about a possible transmission fluid change and asked for a loaner car because I had to go to work. I dropped the van off, grabbed a coffee in their very nice waiting room (clean, comfy chairs, WiFi, coffee, soda, water, tv), and hopped in the loaner. Honestly, not the nicest car ever, but it was clean, ran fine, and was included in their already competitive quote (nothing is free, don't say free, it's just included in the cost - sorry off soapbox now). I drove to work and not even 15 min later got a call asking about what they were seeing, meaning they immediately went to work on it (good sign). A couple hours later I got a text with a link to a detailed report with pictures of everything they found and then a phone call to talk through it. Turns out I really needed that transmission fluid change, had a A/C condenser that was spewing refrigerant, and had almost no oil in my van despite having changed it just a couple months ago. Not great news. The great part was the person I talked to, Jessica, was patient, knowledgeable, and had personally seen the issues and talked with the technician working on my vehicle so she could answer all my questions. I didn't ever wonder if I was being misled because I was shown proof. I had a few of these reports and phone calls along the way to make sure I always new what was going on and why. The added work meant it took longer than expected, but it was ok because I wasn't out a vehicle (loaner). When I picked up the van the A/C was ice cold and it ran better than it has in a long time. I think I've got a new go-to the next time I need some work done. read more

This place was awful, they had my van for 3 weeks to replace a head gasket, got it back and it sounded like a lawnmower. Brought it back and they fixed that but failed to verify that there weren't any oil leaks (by their own admission later). It continued to leak, so brought it back. They 'fix' that leak but it continues to leak more oil, so bring it back for them to clean everything up again because they can't locate the source. At this point I've had enough, take it to another place where they promptly find the leak, coming from an additional repair that could have easily been made while doing the head gasket. Also, the car had smelled like exhaust was coming up from underneath since I got it back from head gasket repair and the new place identified right away that there were bolts that had been sheared off of a plate under the car that allowed exhaust to waft up instead of out the back. Shenanigans is all I have to say, and expensive at that! I don't generally write reviews, but this was just too much. read more

They also called to see if the repair may be covered under warranty as I had the same repair at a dealer a year ago. It was not, but they are proactive and reach out to ask. Do not ever do business with TrinityAutomotive in White Bear Lake. Got my front breaks done October 2021. They had to replace under warranty 6 months later. About a month to month & a half later same problem arose. I called and left a message with no return call. Life got busy and I could not call them back in July I've finally sent an email about the same problem. They agreed to check my car out again. After the inspection they told me front struts needed to be fixed, back brakes, and calipers. They take pictures so you can see everything that needs to be done. I had a friend look at the pictures who said the struts did not need to be replaced. We had another friend replace the back brakes and calipers. We got no information on the front and brakes. The friend that replaced the back brakes looked at the front and agreed the struts did not need to be replaced right now but the front brakes did. Brought the car back into Trinity, and made them look over the front brakes. They agreed they did need to be replaced finally (3 weeks after we brought it in and they gave us quotes on everything else). But, they are refusing to do the work unless we put out money to them to have the struts done. I would say that's a pretty shady business that they will not warranty their work. Oh! I forgot to mention... when I sent in the email for The front and needing to be redone and I got the call back, the kid who I was speaking with did mention that in the past six months they have been getting faulty parts. So, an admission of receiving faulty parts and refusal to warranty them leads me to believe this is a pretty shady business. we do have you g child that I drive all over with and one person that I've worked with a lot there does know this. We are out roughly $600 and will never ever do business there again. read more

Through the numerous phone conversations with Jessica, finding out what exactly is wrong with my car and communicating directly with the technicians, i can finally feel at ease. Everyone was friendly when I dropped off and picked up my car. They had it done in a timely manner. But after leaving I found that the tire rotation either hadn't been done or it wasn't completed properly and my tpms sensors reset. I was told to bring it back. I bring it back wait ten minutes before being helped and he tells me that no one is there to do it and to wait another 15-20 minutes so someone can do it. So I left. Upon returning home I decide to check over the rest of the work that was done. I was charged 18.99 for a "premium" oil filter and upon inspection it's one of the cheapest micrguard oil filter that oreilly sells for 9.99$ I'm pretty scared to see what they would have put on if I didn't get the "premium". Maybe a paper bag. Honestly I was really hoping a family run business would do better. I was an automotive technician for 18 years and left the industry due to negative people always complaining about shops but I see now being on the other side of the fence why folks don't trust shops. read more

BUYER BEWARE!!!! Email to Dave / Trinity Auto on Sep 23, 2022, 8:55 AM: Prior to Aug 29th I called Trinity Automotive to inquire if they work on Euro vehicles; specifically VW. They informed me that they've "worked / work on lots of them." I explained that the reason which prompted my call was because I had noticed my engine surge a week or so prior and that I'd like a full vehicle inspection and potentially attend to any Mfg recommended maintenance based on the mileage. On 8/29/22 the following was performed: - Vehicle inspection which included a battery test that stated "no issues found."- Rear shocks - Spark plugs- Tune up - Transmission Svc Total amount paid $1668.11 Upon picking up my vehicle on 9/1 I noticed the engine surge immediately after starting it. I inquired about it and was told (by a young technician) that it's normal and that his vehicle does that when he starts it. I knew that was not correct. So I had Dave come and take a look; it was obvious that the engine surge problem was present. 9/2 the diagnostic report: -Confirmed engine surging is happening intermittently. With engine running, can remove dipstick from dipstick tube and observe excessive vacuum present. With vacuum gauge inserted to dipstick tube, engine crankcase vacuum is pulling 9 inHg of vacuum. This is an indication of a failed PCV Valve, recommend replacement. I okayed the proposal. One or two days later I was informed that the wrong part was delivered and that it would take another day or so. Total amount paid $409.91 On or around 9/5 I picked up my vehicle. Less than 5 minutes of driving there was a high pitched squealing coming from the engine. On or around 9/7 I picked up my vehicle. I was informed that it was a simple 2 minute fix of putting a cap back on (something or another).... I was also told that it should fix the engine surge. It's been either 4 or 5 times where I've come to pickup my "fixed" vehicle. 9/13 the diagnostic report: - "Battery load test failed" - I was told this test was a "more in-depth" battery test than was the initial test on 8/29 which stated "no issues found." Proposed fix was a $353 battery. I did some research and found a battery replacement estimate at VW - Brookdale for $274. On or around 9/13 or 14th I picked up my vehicle and drove it for about 30-40 miles. I parked and shut off vehicle. About an hour later my car wouldn't start. I waited about 45 minutes.... and it started. I drove it back to Trinity to have it looked at. I was told it could have been from running (charging) too many electronics with the vehicle not self charging. Perhaps this was the case - although it's never happened to me before. It's September 22/23rd now. It's been 25 days since I initially brought in my car. What i told Maddi, and asked her to relay to you: If Trinity doesn't get this resolved in an amicable way, I will shout this experience from the rooftops in Blaine and White Bear in hopes that someone else doesn't have to endure what I have. I don't care if you take it to a VW Dealership to figure out the engine surge problem. Even after being assured that Trinity has "lots of experience dealing w/ Euro / VW; It's abundantly clear that Trinity does not have the knowledge or expertise to handle this problem. I'm done dealing w/ this circus. This has been a colossal inconvenience; the time waste, stress and anxiety is incalculable. I'll be picking up my VW Monday 9/26. What is your proposal for an equitable solution? END OF EMAIL. As of 9/26 I've sent 3 emails, and 1 in-person attempt to be refunded for a part which hasn't fixed the issue. No acknowledgment from Dave of any mistake, nor offer of refund. I picked up vehicle un-fixed on 9/26 w/ no fix or resolution. read more

Ok, so here's the deal. I drove close to an hour to come here to get my brake pads installed. I wouldn't have found this place if it wasn't for Amazon. I thank them for giving me the opportunity to meet David and his wife, Jessica. Both were top notch in delivering excellent customer experience. I had an appointment that afternoon and so I waited in the office for the installation to be done. The office isn't your typical big box waiting area like Discount Tire or Firestone but I didn't need that much space. The office space was more than enough for me. Free WiFi is available here while you wait. I have to say, the service I received here was the best in the entire Twin Cities bar none. This has been the most solid experience as a customer I have ever had. Jessica was incredibly nice asking if I needed anything or even as simple as if I wanted the TV on. This is what other shops lack. That personalized service beyond the norm. I will not hesitate to come back here. Amazon, you did a great job having this shop represent you in providing auto services. This place used to be very friendly and do more than asked to do without extra charge when they are husband and wife shop but a recent visit make me rethink when I go back to them. They took a look on my car (which I told them that I might need an alignment and there is an engine light and a tire pressure low light. After the checkup, Joe told me they cannot fix it due to its frame not straight and they do not have the tool for a body shop job and still charged me to check the under body. Honest business - great service ! Sears wanted $425 for replacing front brakes - the sears guy scared me that if I do not replace the rotors, then my steering will be wobbling when I brake. I bought my own brake pads, rotors and when to Trinity Auto - he said replacing brakes may not be required, then said he will have a closer look then opened it up, showed me the pads and rotors and said it could last an year or two depending on how I drive :) $425 saved right there. Synthetic Oil change $30 which includes the filter replacement. Most others charge $100+ Rear defroster not working: Upfront estimation that they need to open up the panel and find out whats going on and would be $46 for 30 mins, he comes back in 15 mins and says the contacts are not intact, it will need an adhesive - called a few places who had run out of it and told me that I could come back next week or if I can get the adhesive I could do it myself and showed me how to do. And best part - charges me only for 15 mins i.e $23 Engine Air filter replacement, Free vehicle inspection and evaluation. Was it worth driving 45 mins + 45 mins from Plymouth to Hugo - 1.5 hours $425 saved/earned - worth every minute. read more

One of the first things I do when I move into any city is check for a good mechanic. When I saw Trinity come up with high reviews, I thought...okay, a little out of the way, but let's give them a shot. I could not have made a better choice. Their service is AMAZING. They really go out of their way to make you feel valued, which is a real white space in this industry. I won't go into specifics because others needs may be different than mine. What I will say is they really know their stuff. Not to mention, the employees are happy AND IT SHOWS. Probably the most unique thing I experienced is that they treat your car like a doctor with great bedside manner. They keep records of items in your car that may need maintenance at some point in the future and keep track of them as you come in to let you know when it should be fixed, so there's never a surprise. It sounds simple, but I've never been to a mechanic that did this and walked me through it. It's no wonder this shop has expanded so many times in such a short period of time. First time customer. The quadra lift system when out on my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Summit. Trinity quickly diagnosed the problem and got the part on order right away. The part only comes from Chrysler and was a min. 7 day lead time. Trinity provided us with a Ford Explorer loaner for the entire time we waited for the Jeep at no additional cost. When the parts arrived it was fixed within one day and we had our Jeep back. Customer Service was excellent and will be returning if I have future issues with my vehicles.
