At Trilogy, your "care" can range from slightly adequate, criminally negligent to downright abusive, often all three at once.
The staff turnover is so high chances are good a new team leader will come along and destroy whatever is working for you, such as "Jp" did in 2016. I never recovered the trust from the bizarre, arbitrary decisions he made without my input, or knowledge of until long after he'd moved on. He decided that someone currently his staff resembled a person I met only once during their shadowing period, who did not take a job at Trilogy, whom I was somehow and vaguely, in some indefinable way "inappropriate with", therefore that staff member was removed from the rotation of seeing me. I did not even learn this decision was made for a year after neither of them was on the team or even with the agency. Just make up whatever rules you want and wave your degree around to justify it. Also, if I were to continue to receive counseling, I would have to provide my own office/meeting space from now on, which could mean sitting in a Starbucks or McDonalds while anyone could hear my personal business. The man dresses like a hippie with a very unprofessional haircut, by the way
During my period of top-notch service, my apartment got destroyed in a flood. The criminal landlord that ran the place got away with not letting me retrieve what was left of my property until I threatened to lawyer up. The caseworker insisted I just "let it go" because his staff were people of color. The new place I had to take was a former clients north of Howard and upon going to get the keys the same staff member "Myrlene" approached the leasing staff suffenly and inquired as to how I could pay extra, pro rated rent that I previously had gotten waived. I needed to "learn some responsibility", so instead of getting new pillows, bedsheets and clothes I needed to flush $200 down the toilet for no reason other than her need to bully and dominate me. She said "if it were up to her" I eould have had to pay extra rent. Additionally, I was told by this "Myrlene" that I was not allowed to take issue with the crime, shootings or anything else in the neighborhood nor should I ever call 911 because I was Caucasian and it was "none of my business"
A staff member named "Cynthia" from a program I had nothing to do with became deeply concerned with my presence in the building from day one of her employment. I was reported for using the restroom on the wrong floor, waiting for a therapy appointment in the waiting area, taking issue with a man following me from room to room ("he's a good boy and didn't do nothing") and even being seen walking down Greenleaf "aggressively" behind a former supported employment specialist on a day I wasn't even in Chicago. She eventually forced a confrontation which got me banned from the building and denied most services available in it. In truth, this unprofessional person is only there to make sure that only people that meet her personal approval use services or visit the building, which typically means only uninsured "Beacon" patrons and especially only people of color.
They do get good people working here but they move on since they're more valuable to competent agencies that actually pay them what they're worth (thanks for everything, Tony, Sarah) .
No matter what is or isn't working for you doesn't matter, because a sudden wave of turnover will make everything like it's your first week with Trilogy again, and far too many of the self righteous busybody young women have very, very particular ideas about what a disabled persons lifestyle should entail, like because we receive benefits, we should be spending most of our time doing embarrassing activism activities, marching on Springfield wearing ugly, cheap shirts, being in one sided, toxic codependencies with severely developmentally disabled peers, and especially not enjoying one single luxury obtained from a healthy period of being able to work, like having a videogame console. 4 out of 10 new cst people instantly complained upon seeing I have a few things to do other than loiter and chain smoke.
I am no longer required to have my fate and my housing tied to their services, thank God.
This profession is garbage. It has nothing to do with getting people back into proper society, it is simply bratty, spoiled children playing Mommy with sick people and forcing their values on them.
They are continuing to move seriously disturbed people out of nursing homes into communities with affordable housing, and not minding them well and many forays into public end up with miserable encounters with people who need more supervision than they're getting.
People committing criminal damage to property, shoplifting, frequent visits by ambulances, fire and police have gone up considerably around my parts but these fresh out of college idealistic young people will continue to be self righteous that they're helping, and you're just a bad person for taking issue. read more
