I had radiation @ St Mary's Oncology Radiology with Dr Sharma for pain in my lower back & hip. I had no idea that the radiation was going to do so much damage to my hip! No one told me that at the end of my radiation txs I would need a hip replacement!! My hip was fine before the radiation! A few weeks later was when the pain really started & after 2-3 months it was unbearable!! Dr Gunzenhaeser - Orthopedic Surgeon told us that my hip was the worst hip he had ever seen & he didn't know I could walk with it! Two different times Christy helped by moving my surgery date & time forward, faxing my Physical Therapy orders & all of the other things that needed to be done quickly. Christy is very knowledgeable & she definitely goes above & beyond. If it wasn't for Christy's constant monitoring in my chart & checking in with me many times- my experience @ Beacon's wouldn't have been so smooth! Imagine the focused care you'll receive. I feel as if I now have a partner focused on helping restore and maintain my health rather than a relative stranger giving me their best guess from a few clues. Sometimes the front office staff and or nurses are having bad days, but my Dr, Kay Johnson is always consistent with me. She listens and never has one foot out the door. On occasion I have been a little concerned with the lack of a thorough exam (such as listening to my heart) but overall i've received excellent care whether sick or routine visit. The building itself includes a lab, orthopedist and some other specialists so it is essentially a one stop shop. It is always clean and well organized. There is a large parking lot, but getting in and out can be a little tough on busy Montgomery Rd. Added bonus, they now have a nice online portal where you can communicate, have virtual visits, and view bloodwork or invoices.
