I met Dr. Matt through a local running group where he not only ran with us but also sponsored the run. During our conversations, I learned he was training for the NYC Marathon as well, and I really connected with his "keep it moving," holistic, strength-based approach to physical therapy, as well as his genuine desire to understand running more deeply so he could better treat his running patients.
A few months later, I decided to work with him for my third marathon and my first NYC Marathon build. Having dealt with pain and injuries during previous training cycles, I knew how crucial proper strength training would be. My goal was simple: build the strength I needed to prevent injuries during the training cycle and avoid pain throughout the 26.2 miles. NYC is a tough course, and I knew I'd need all the help I could get.
I'm so thankful for Dr. Matt because he helped me achieve exactly that. Two weeks post NYC Marathon, I'm still completely pain and injury-free and have already returned to easy running. That, to me, is a huge victory! I learned so much from him, and most importantly, I gained real confidence in the gym, which is priceless!
My biggest takeaway is this: you don't necessarily have to stop exercising when you experience pain. What you need is a tailored, targeted strength plan aligned with your specific activity and goals.
I 100% recommend Dr. Matt and the entire Trident family for physical therapy, rehabilitation, and injury prevention. Can't wait to work with him again!
