I was impressed by how quickly the crew took down the tree. Dustin climbed and dropped branches right where they were supposed to fall. The crew had the branches cleaned up practically before the next ones came down. The team was courteous and quick, and the pricing was reasonable. I will be calling Mabe's for any tree services in the future.

Owner Dustin Mabe was easy to reach, and he and his crew took fewer than two hours to down and remove the tree and clean up. Their pricing, efficiency, and quality of work were impressive, and I will probably turn to them again if any of our other trees seem in danger of toppling. I say "probably" rather than "definitely" because of Dustin's sense of timing. When I first called him for a quote, we agreed upon a certain time for him to do a quick appraisal, but he showed up at least a half-hour earlier than expected. Then, when I called the next week to schedule the removal, he said he would check his schedule and get back to me the next day with his availability. Instead, he called me early the next morning to say that he'd had a cancellation and wanted to do the removal an hour or two later. This ended up working out OK in the long run, but it would not have under normal (non-quarantine) circumstances, and it's something for those without a lot of scheduling flexibility to beware of. You'll also want to confirm whatever quote that was given to you as it will not be e-mailed to you (though proof of insurance will). In short, Mabes does great work at an unbeatable price albeit with a few eyebrow-raising practices.

It was a big job, and they handled it flawlessly from start to finish. From the first call to schedule the quote all the way through completion, their communication was top-notch. Dani, one of the owners, was amazing--attentive, responsive, and truly invested in making sure everything was done right. Every member of the crew was kind, professional, and clearly took pride in their work. To add some context, the neighbor whose property borders mine had given full, "cut whatever you want" / carte blanche permission earlier in the week--even sending a bulldozer GIF for emphasis--so everyone moved forward in good faith. Unfortunately, that changed mid-project, and both the company and I received a number of repeated and, at times, excessive phone calls raising concerns. What impressed me most is how this team handled that situation. Despite the shift and claims about minor gutter damage, they remained calm, respectful, and professional the entire time. They are fully licensed, stood behind their work, and navigated everything with integrity--even when the situation became unnecessarily difficult. They completed the job beautifully, cleaned up thoroughly, and made what could have been a stressful experience so much easier. Huge thanks to Dani and the whole team--I would hire them again in a heartbeat and recommend them without hesitation!

We hired City Transfer to move my elderly parents after they were displaced due to eminent domain…read morefor the I-540 project near Knightdale, NC. This company is listed as an approved mover by the North Carolina Department of Transportation and promotes itself as a crane and rigging service, so we expected a professional and careful experience--especially given the complexity of the move, which included household goods as well as a welding business with heavy equipment and machinery. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. While they did complete the move, they caused significant damage along the way. Items were broken or destroyed, including glassware, a hutch door, and even structural damage to the home such as a busted door jamb. They were also responsible for relocating three outdoor sheds. During this process, they damaged one shed by knocking holes in it, failed to properly level or secure any of them, and left them unstable to the point that they rocked when you walked inside. When encountering a locked shed door, instead of handling it properly, they forced it open--breaking both the lock and the door. After moving the sheds, they left all the contents piled outside on the ground, exposed to the weather, and simply left. I had several conversations with the owner, Ron Lassiter, but found him dismissive and unhelpful. At no point did anyone from the company take responsibility or offer a sincere apology. Instead, the response was always, "file a claim and we'll see what we can do." It ultimately required hiring a lawyer and involving WTVD 11 News just to get the company to partially address the situation. I would also strongly recommend carefully scrutinizing the moving contract before signing. The terms are very specific and appear to heavily favor the moving company, which made resolving these issues even more difficult. This was an incredibly frustrating and stressful experience during an already difficult time for my family. If I could give zero stars, I would. I would strongly advise others to look elsewhere for moving services.
