I finally made the decision to move again after doing research for a vet with dermatology specialties and found Dr Cheryl Lewis. She said she was not a specialist in the field, but had knowledge in the area and would do everything she could to help him. She's truly amazing!! She has helped our boy by use of a few methods and he is so much happier and so are we!! Dr. Lewis is such a fun and loving vet. Both our Bichon and Maltese/Westie needed their teeth cleaned and one needed extractions; thanks to Dr. Megan Forgan who was so great with both of the boys! She was kind, considerate and passed no judgement, as I felt terrible that our one boy needed many extractions considering I brush their teeth!!! She reassured me that small dogs often have these issues as they get older. Then, our Maltese ripped his cruxiate ligament and tore the other under the knee, (the x ligaments under knee cap, which keep knee in place). Dr. Clare Leger, the orthopedic Dr. there told me she was not a certified specialist in orthopedic surgery, but had done many of the surgeries needed to fix my poor baby. I went ahead with having Dr. Leger operate. He is recovering really well after less than a month! He is putting his foot down and using the foot far more than I ever expected at this time. The poor fella had carried hid back leg around for 1 1/2 mths prior so I thought it would be a very long recovery. They do their own Blood Work, Xrays and other tests right inhouse, so it's a one-stop-shop so to speak. I love that my pet's results are almost instant. They do laser therapy as well which works wonders to help your pet heal. It helps to heal wounds much more quickly with the laser treatments which is a real benefit. After the past 5 mths of being in the clinic so often, I must say I really feel ALL the staff are just amazing! I walk in and feel I'm at home. I truly appreciate everyone there as I feel they do their very best for my two boys and me. Thank you to all of them from the bottom of my heart.

We've moved since we first began coming to Mill Creek, and while the drive is out of the way, we wouldn't trust anybody with our fur babies the way we trust Mill Creek.

Basically blamed me and searched for any abuse and only found a bit of extra ear wax in my dogs ear. Proceeded to put me down as a female "Where is your husband?" was the kindest rebuke. I asked for help to change the sequence of events around her last 2 surgeries I.e. she does not like going to the other Vet office due to the reception area staff. So much that she fights them and is belligerent (not her usual calm friendly pet me behaviour.) And afterwards tears at the sutures despite being wrapped up in layers of protection including a plastic cone for the tail and 2 of the largest e cones to wear on her head. I redress it continually. She seemed to be in pain. So I asked for options like more pain killer before and after procedure (amputation of tail due to injury 3 weeks ago) or a different dressing with moisture as she seemed to suck on the bandages to get them wet. Or an alternative to stitches. Each time just stubbornly insisted "I do this all the time and I will not hear or think about giving your dog a break in any way and u must force her to obey my rules as the only ones that can apply. " This is the nicest way to describe how he said things it was really to the point of get out of my office. Accused me of yelling when I asked for each alternative or some other idea to change the sequence of events to be more in my dogs favour. I came to this clinic because I read of a diagnostician Dr. Tomlinson there. Instead this Vet yelled at me the other way round and accused me of doing it. I tried reasoning with him I.e. we r going in circles is there anyone else to talk to? I expected a referral instead he took it personal..there is only me. Until I pressed for a different response. And finally he agreed to give her more meds and a referral to Guardian. This guy needs an open mind and a better attitude towards women and a caring for the patient my dog. She is suffering so I put up with his shitty condescending arrogance to try to help her. But it is a shame that he could not get beyond himself without being forced to even try. The receptionist and all the female just loved my dog and petted her and talked to her. I paid $90 for an exam fee and he would not even remove her bandage to examine the wound but asked me to do it. Then when done asked me to replace it. SOAB u know what that expletive means and I am a 72 yr old granny who tries to be professional. The birds in the lobby r cute and speak "Hello" "Pretty Bird". Which is more than I can say for Dr. Mann I feel sorry for any woman that has to work or be near him. My dog is a very gentle mastiff and deserves consideration. My husband was willing to go back after work and "talk" to him but then the list of this kind of attitude in men in Edmonton is long. He would be wasting his time. $382 later and $1700 at the first hospital all because the wind slammed our garage door shut on her tail and cut it off. I want her to heal and without pain this is my priority. If I had not met other nice men in Edmonton I would give up on this city.

The person who I got her from wasn't looking after her properly, so over the course of about a year and a half we've been doing what we can to get her health in order. I'm glad to say she is doing very well! Dr. Pettifor diagnosed her with gout and since then its been a battle but she is doing so well with her medicine and is a happy healthy dragon. I've rescued a few reptiles in my life and Smaug has definitely been the most difficult but also the most rewarding. I also find it harder to find an exotics vet than it was in Calgary - so I'm glad that we found one. She seems to care for the animals a lot which is important when you have a tiny lizard to look after (and other pets too). So thank you very much to Dr. Pettifor and all the staff here for helping with Smaug! We love her so much!

Zelda seemed anxious her first appointment (which she is when she first enters any new space), but quickly wanted to go home with every staff member who offered her treats (even after they gave her shots). She's seen both Dr. McLachlan and Dr. Knapp-Miller. All of the staff seem to genuinely care about animals and I always appreciate a good balance between holistic and western medicine. Because of COVID-19 restrictions, I've only been in with Zelda for her appointments once and the space seemed clean, calm and spacious. The comments and questions let me know the staff are getting to know Zelda and trying to get to the root of potential issues (like my sweet girl being disgusting and eating her poop) rather than just treating the symptoms. I had new pet owner worries between appointments and it was nice to get to speak to a vet tech between appointments to let me know when to worry and when something just seemed like normal puppy stuff.

Their comfort and care during the last 7 weeks of her life is something I've eternally grateful for. After the many weeks of alternative pet care including herbal formulas as well as traditional methods and the use of acupuncture, my best friend of 19 years was put down. She simply did not want to be a lone cat of the house any longer. the last moments were quite well handled. We were led into a room that had been lovingly prepared, lit with a candle and aromatherapy. We were allowed to settle in and then have as much time as we wanted after the end of life procedure. We were not rushed and I felt like I could spend as much time as I wanted after she was gone. I really appreciated that. I realize I've said nearly nothing about their actual care, but just how we experienced the last moment but if I can relay to you their caring and understanding, then I hope I've done that. I never really knew there were holistic animal care options with my first cat, and I'll do whatever I can share this business and these people with whomever i can.
