We were waived up to the entrance immediately upon pulling up. My next visit the line was much longer but moved rather quickly. All three employees I dealt with were very nice and respectful. We waited inside while our cars were inspected and were in and out within minutes. Great experiences both times and will continue to come here for future inspections.

Once again, I made an appointment on the MVC website for 830am on the very next day, completed the appropriate form online, and printed it out at home to bring with me to my appointment. When I arrived at the MVC a few minutes before my appointment, the receptionist greeted me with a smile, acknowledged I had completed the correct form but needed to make a minor correction, and directed me right to Window 1. The associate at Window 1 quickly scanned the form, processed the credit card payment for the transaction, printed a new registration, and handed me my new license plates and paperwork -- all within 5 minutes. I was done and back on the road to work by 830am. Thanks, again, for another easy experience.

Special praise to Jeanne at the reception who was is extremely efficient in taking care of so so many things as I could see her helping all the people in front of me. The layout is efficient for such a small space relative to other agency service centers. Reception is right up front with a lots of spare space to walk around, ingrass and egress. Bathrooms are afront, but I don't know how they are. There are almost a dozen counters with a numbered registration and queuing system. They handle quite a wide variety of services, although the official site lists exactly what they are, because there are too many to list in one review. There is always a police officer posted here, but happily it is a very quiet assignment. Parking is plentiful as would be expected. The appointment quotas and walk-in services are aligned to make sure it's never overwhelmed. Visibility from NJ Route 28 makes it easy to find and locals will know its Roosevelt Place northern entrance. The hours are standard ones, but the efficient processing is always a pleasure if you must come.

Fonthill Castle was the home of archeologist and tile maker Henry Chapman Mercer. (Also in Doylestown are two more Mercer buildings you can tour - the Mercer Museum and the Moravian Pottery and Tile Works building, the business Mercer ran and where most of the tiles in the castle were produced.) Henry Mercer seems like he was an interesting guy, and you can see that in his home - 44 rooms, 18 fireplaces, 200 windows, who knows how many staircases...! And designed and decorated in a way I've never seen anywhere else. The castle is an early example of poured-in-place concrete building and is a mix of Medieval, Gothic, and Byzantine architectural styles. And there are, of course, Moravia tiles (and some historic and international tiles that he collected during his life) throughout the house - almost more than you could imagine. We visited last Saturday to experience their "Fonthill Castle Holiday Lights Meander Experience," which allows you to visit the castle through a self-guided experience (there were staff in various rooms who were happy to answer questions) and enjoy a series of Christmas trees on display throughout the home. I definitely enjoyed the experience but am definitely planning a return visit to see the castle in better light (not at night in the dark - which was perfect for the Christmas tree experience) - they offer 60-minute guided tours though the house for most of the year! The castle is pretty wild, and I look forward to visiting it again and experiencing it in a new way. If you are interested in architecture, art, crafts, the Arts and Crafts design movement, or just quirky, unusual places, definitely add Fonthill to your list and check it out!

Later it became one of Washington's military hospitals during the Revolution, and parts of it are still original. They're doing some renovations now, but any history buff will find this place fascinating. Inside you've got galleries, a gift shop, meeting spaces, and staff who are genuinely passionate about keeping history alive. Go, learn something, enjoy the energy of the fun tour guides. It's under construction right now, but I've been coming here for years when I visit family in Jersey, and it's always worth the stop. Trenton may be scrappy, but the Old Barracks is one of its gems.
