As I mentioned, I contacted other companies and found a disturbing $5,000 swing between lowest and highest. Kusiak was among the most competitive in their pricing. Craftsmanship: Very pleased with their attention to detail. While they just completed the job this morning, everything appears to be in order and the work appears to be very professional. In addition to their competitive pricing, one of the main reasons I chose Kusiak is their application of a 6' ice & water protection. This is twice what others quoted as most only apply 3'. Warranty: This is what set them apart in my opinion. A 10 year warranty on labor is no laughing matter. Again, almost double the time frame what other companies quoted. I had a very nice conversation with the lady on the phone, she sent out a man to check things out and give me an estimate. Turns out the fascia around my chimney needed work and part of the roofing needed to be replaced. So I committed to the contract and paid 50% deposit which was my first mistake. I was told that it would take 3 weeks for my job to be completed. We then had the horrific weather which wrecked havoc on Munster. The three weeks passed and I could not get any definite, concrete date as to when they would be out to my home. I called a couple of times and nobody answered the phone. I called both representatives that came out and neither could give me any answers. A leaking roof is rather urgent I'd say. What is really upsetting is their lack of communication skills, reaching out to their customer who already put money down and reassuring them they're not forgotten. When I did get through on the phone, we're waiting on a date and we'll get back to you. This charade went on for awhile until I had to demand some action, nobody likes a run around. I got their name from seeing them replacing my neighbors roof a few years back, that's how I happened to find them. I have front second floor gable that needs attention as I told one of their estimators about how it sometimes leaks in the corners inside with heavy rains from the west. That would have been another job for them. He told me what the cause was and indicated the approximate cost, then later abruptly tells me we're not taking any more of those kind of jobs at the moment. That was quite some time ago, do you think someone would give me a follow up call and say, do you still need your gable repaired, we're able to take care it now? NO! Totally written off and forgotten! My is roof is from 2011, do you think I'm going to call Eenigenburg? LMAO Finally, the first Saturday in October a crew of three (3) guys from O'Hare airport area, Guatemalan immigrants did the work. They did an amazing job as I am extremely happy with their roofing skills and work ethic. It was the getting to that point that aggravated the shit of me. Also, I'd like to mention all these The TIMES Best of the Region awards every year is simply a publicity stunt for the newspaper. You can call every day for like a 3 week period and vote each day for same company. I have medical provider that does the exact same thing, he gets his staff, patients, family and friends to vote for him daily and with that strategy, of course you'll win! May 2021 - I had a 4 yr old roof with no history on who performed the work. Rather than constantly…read moreworrying about the next leak I told Ryan that I wanted an entirely new roof that was warranted. He offered me 3 options and I took the most complete option that included a transferable warranty. Ryan pointed out why the roof was leaking and other flaws in the original construction. In addition to the roof, we replaced 4 skylights, added 2 ridge vents, and one soffit repair. Plus, we added a roof drip edge all around the roof which had not been installed originally. We also replaced 4 plywood boards that had water damage. We also changed the shingle color from black to dark brown. This was a major project during windy Spring weather. I watched the workers carefully and was impressed by everything that they did. This is not easy work and I appreciated their efforts. Total Roofing has some very large equipment and this helps them be efficient. Most of the roof and skylights were done in two days. Two smaller crews did the finishing work on two other days (maybe 2 hours each). I would certainly recommend them for any sort of roofing repair or replacement!
