Truly can not recommend a business that operates like this. Spoke with Mandy on the phone and had a nice conversation, so I thought and she asked me to submit my storm damage estimates from my insurance so they could go over them and get someone to come out. I waited for a long time to hear from them and so I called and spoke to a gentleman who said he would talk to her and call me the next day.. That day came and went, no call. I checked my email and saw that Mandy had wrote 5 days after I submitted my Insurance work and it went to my junk mail that's why I did not see it..... it said the following," thank you for the email and conversation the other day.
At this time we are going to decline the opportunity to work on this project for you.
Best of luck on completing your repairs.
Mandy Manson"
I waited another day and called them and got the recording that said they were taking on full jobs which mine was. Roof, gutters and siding. I called a bit after getting that recorded message and this time Rod her husband answered and I said, I wrote Mandy back afer getting a denail email and asked what was wrong and why they would not consider doing the work and I never heard anything back. Was it the Insurance $ that was not enough or what? It can't be my credit, It can't be I owe people money. So what is it? I was told they were not taking on any more work. A lie. You mean your not taking on what I have for work. I was then told I was not a good fit. Which is a bit crazy I thought. So after talking to many others I heard what I believe might be the reason. But of course we will never know because they did not have the courtesy to say.
On the phone when speaking to Mandy I mentioned how important it is to have shingles installed correctly. I mentioned Owens corning and my relationship with them and how the shingles should be installed with perfectly straight nails driven in the right spot, what matters most-the nailing zone and getting those nails in straight and not at an angle and having blow through....I mentioned not have shiners too which are nails driven way outside the nailing area that are visible. I mentioned that I would like to be able to talk to the installers if I had any questions and I might even be on the roof. I mentioned all the terrible work being done by storm chasers and she agreed.
Owens Corning and any quality Shingle company has requirements that must be met if your shingles blow off etc they will inspect and if they were not installed correct then they will not stand behind their product. So you see It could be possible I asked to many questions or said to many things that caused this company to back out because possibly they are scared that their workmanship might not meet Owens Corning specs or mine. It's only an observation as we do not know why they turn down customers who have exceptional credit and expect good Iowa Workmanship. But then WHY waste my time asking me to send my Insurance work and estimate to them? Very weird! read more
