I headed down to northern Iowa, did a few stops in Rochester and Burnsville, and then drove back to the hotel. Driving up Highway 52, roughly ten kilometres (even in miles, I do the conversion) before hitting Rosemount, my rental car's light indicating that I was low on gas appeared. It wasn't a panic type of alert. In my head, I was calculating whether I could get to a gas station closer to the hotel. Nope. I needed to get to one a lot sooner. A quick search on my phone's map gave me this BP. It was on my way to Burnsville. Yay! This BP is brightly lit. It was a fairly dark drive over. I was happy to pull into the station to take care of my getting-empty gas tank. There were plenty of pumps available. I parked next to one and tried to figure out which credit card to use. I still have an active Discover card from my time living in this state. The problem is that the ZIP code is 00000 on my statement to accommodate my Canadian address. It means that whenever I insert this credit card into a gas payment system and I get prompted for my ZIP code, entering all zeroes is deemed either suspicious or invalid. My Canadian credit card generally works when I enter the numbers in my postal code, followed by two zeroes when prompted to enter a ZIP code. I decided that this card was the best candidate. Each gas pump now has a gas station TV channel. I caught some college football and $1 breakfast sandwiches at Burger King as I inserted my credit card to get things started. I loved that I was never prompted to enter a ZIP code. I simply inserted my card and entered my PIN. Done! I selected the type of gas that I wanted and filled my car's gas tank up. I was so happy. This gas station is clean. It had paper towel. The lighting is great. This place also has an auto service centre. I saw a woman go inside the convenience store to pay for gas. I didn't need to go inside. I did see beverages in a fridge from my vantage point. BP has an app. I'll need to check it out and see if it works for Canadians. I am thrilled that BP doesn't prompt for a ZIP code. It's such a pain for non-Americans! (430)

Sometimes, I stop again in Rochester before heading back. I don't believe that I did on this trip because the winds were gusty and I wanted warmth. I can do this entire day trip on a tank of gas with the right vehicle. With a rented Jeep, I hit Roseville on my way back to the hotel and the low-gas indicator came on. My usual gas station is the BP in Eagan. When you are about to roll in to a gas station with an almost empty tank and realize that the gas station has been demolished, that sinking, sick, empty stomach feeling is never good. Both my empty tank and stomach weren't expecting my go-to gas station to be gone. I can't tell whether it will resurrect itself as a better BP for if it's gone for good. Luckily, I did remember this Speedway roughly a block away. I rolled into that one. I love Speedway as much as BP. Why? As a Canadian, I can use my Canadian credit card at the gas pump and not have to deal with entering a ZIP code. I don't have one. Many gas pumps to cater to American credit cards. This one is Canadian-friendly. Yay! I was pleased to fuel my rental car. What a relief! This gas station was bright at around 8 pm. It was clean at and around the pump. No complains here. This Speedway does have a convenience store. I didn't need to enter the store, but it's good to know that it's there if I need snacks and drinks. I need to do some research on whether Speedway has an app. I know that it has a rewards program. I may need to sign up for it. This gas station is open 24 hours a day. It's comforting and cool. Most gas stations are 24/7, so I don't understand why this one is limited. Perhaps the gas station itself closes, so they don't want customers to get stranded when it's empty. The car wash itself is pretty average for the time it take to wash your car. It has side and above dryers, but they seem to cut the drying time in half. You can get away with only 30 seconds. Overall, the gas station is very friendly. I've gone inside to get coffee many times, and if you bring your own cup, it's basically half off.
