I was on this side of town, and I was passing by and decided to loop in before heading back downtown. There's plenty of parking surrounding the building. It was one woman in the bakery that came from the back. She was somewhat pleasant, and she was polite in answering my questions. I ordered a few different items to try with my family, such as a cinnamon sugar donut, pistachio cake, oatmeal raisin cookie, and a chocolate chip cookie. I also ordered a pound cake. I really tried to keep an open mind.  The best tasting of everything I listed was the pistachio cake. It had a decent flavor and was moist. Everything else was a bit different for me or not as moist as I would have liked. There are so many different options and I believe they serve lunch. It definitely looks like an amazing local establishment. I would say definitely try this spot for yourself and see what fits.

I ventured here after a Cajun brunch I usually despise this side of town because of the weekend traffic. But after a pleasant brunch I ordered the last slice or piece of tres leche cake from the lady behind the counter. It tasted wonderful, this is one of my favorite desserts to order besides tiramisu cake. The seating area is small just like the parking lot. If you're ever out this way and want to support a small business give this place a try for desserts

This bakery was cute and looked good on the inside. The serves was good, however, the food seemed to be blend and showing any originality. The empanadas where dough, and lack filling. The tres leches cake was very blend with not much flavor. Overall I would not recommend this as a place to stop. Seemed like a waste of money.

Dried out inside. No flavor. And definitely not Bavarian.

Immediately No. we ordered several items from this bakery. Being from South Florida, we are surrounded by amazing bakery's and after seeing amazing reviews on here, we thought we found a gem. Well, we were extremely disappointed! We ordered the following: -Tres Leches Oreo: Dry and stale - Caramel tres leches: Blah! No taste - Flan: Not even close to tasting like flan! -Bavarian Empanada: Stale, old and it was dry guava inside, not even Bavarian -Guava and Cheese pastry: barely any filling and again, dried filling Will never come here again.

apple turnover

Was super excited to try them out since they're right down the road and the reviews are good. Smells delicious inside and the workers are very nice, my boyfriend and i decided to try their apple turnover. Very happy we wanted to split one so me cutting it in half allowed me to glance inside... mold!! i don't know if they don't refrigerate them during the day or it's too humid where they keep them, but i was quite disappointed. there went my sweet tooth craving :(

Pretty self explanatory, but they have the BEST, most PERFECT Tres Leches. Worth the drive if you live downtown.

Great bakery. Authentic and amazing desserts. One of the best Tres Leches cakes I've had and the sugar cookie....worth the calories.

Traveling from Va, after thanksgiving night with the family .I was craving red velvet cake…read more I know big back thoughts but, it was worth it! We were welcomed upon entry! Cakes, cupcakes and cookies were on display. You can sit down if that's your thing. Although, it is pretty small. I tried the butter pound cake it was so moist and dense, exactly what a pound cake should be! My lady got the pound cake and I got the red velvet cake! It was moist and had the perfect amount of cocoa. It was topped with cream cheese icing, the creamy icing was also layered in between the cake! If you're looking for good cake this is the spot.

I ended up getting a few things, a pecan chewie, which was so delicious. The flavor was great and the texture was perfect and soft. I also got a white cake which was made with an apple jelly as opposed to sugar and honestly I had no idea what to expect. Took a bite and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. The cake was moist but not soggy and was sweet but not too sweet. So good. Lastly I got a strawberry cupcake but unfortunately after the other 2 I could not take a bite of anything else. By the time I got to the cupcake it had hardened after sitting for so long and was not really edible. This was obviously not the fault of the baker so I just act as if I didn't get that one. I would really recommend GG's for dessert, it has some great choices and the people are great, and that for me is always a plus.

I went on a weekday morning when it wasn't too packed, and I really enjoyed the authentic deli ambiance, which isn't the easiest thing to find in this neck of the woods. My server (whose name I didn't catch) was such a sweetheart and did an amazing job of making sure my drinks were re-filled, my food was delivered on time, and was proactive in offering me a cup of coffee to-go. After my meal, I enjoyed wandering around the other side of the restaurant for a few minutes, which included a cigar room, an enormous wine cellar, and a host of fine cheeses that I had never heard of before! All-in-all, I really enjoyed The Gourmet Shop, will definitely be back in the future, and would recommend it to anybody in the area who's looking for an authentic deli experience!
