Horrid. I expect laughing reacts for my review, but hear me out…read more $12 for tots without cheese. Had I had the cheese, it would have been $10 -- huh? The menu says "Make it vegan for $2 more!" ... like that sucks, but substitutions are alright. But, nah.. it was $2 more for the dudes to put one less thing on the tots. Cool stuff bro. So what about taste? They were mediocre. Salsa seemed to be Tostitos or any other bargain-basement jarred or canned salsa. The guacamole was a slurry of goo that really had no flavor. The tots themselves were nice and crispy, but no more than straight from a freezer bag. I get it -- speed of service, profit margins, etc. ... but don't settle with trashy ingredients for the toppings *and* charge a premium. So what about portion? Well, I figure there was a total of 18 tots given to me. For $12. Do the math. Toppings weren't skimpy, but I wish they were, just because the quality wasn't there. I should have just gotten their naked freezer bag tots. At least then I'd've known what I was getting. Never again. Feel free to throw me all of the "Funny" reacts, but for real -- meat eater, vegetarian, or vegan, stay away from this place and ignore these fake Yelp reviews. P.S. For the record, I didn't let the truck know of my disappointment. They may have been very accommodating. Who knows. I know the festival is taking a big cut of their profits, but they don't need to charge more for less food. That makes no sense. Good luck, guys.

Whoops! This is an overdue review from December…read more Xela Pan Cafe is a Guatemalan restaurant/bakery/convenience store on Buford Hwy in Doraville. Just a quick warning that, depending on which employee helps customers, there may be a slight issue with their understanding of English. They absolutely speak and understand Spanish. Xela Pan Cafe is in a small strip mall that is next to the strip mall where Kung Fu Tea is located. There is limited parking in front of the storefronts. This small business is made up of a restaurant, a bakery and a convenience store all run by the same employees. The convenience store sells a lot of seemingly random items, just about all in glass display cases. I noticed a lot of things to help with digestion and upset stomach, and hoped that this wasn't an indication of their food (Thankfully, it turned out that it wasn't!). The bakery items were in a separate area of display cases, but customers are free to self-serve themselves by using a tray to place whatever they choose, using either tongs or disposable gloves (I can't remember which they use) to take the items out of the cases. R and I came here for breakfast on a Sunday morning just before 9 am. There is an order counter, but that's for customers who are ordering items to go. Once the employees found out that we were going to eat breakfast inside the restaurant, we were told to seat ourselves and an employee would be by soon with menus. The restaurant area contains mostly booths, with some tables and chairs in an area between the order counter, convenience store and bakery areas. A very helpful and knowledgeable server came by our table, bringing a couple of glasses of water and menus. For a small restaurant, there were many items on the menu. We both ordered the scrambled eggs, rice, black beans, plantains and cheese. We didn't wait very long, in spite of other customers lined up at the counter to order takeout meals. The scrambled eggs with tomato and onion in them tasted a little bland, but I dressed it up with some bottled red hot sauce that was on the table. The plain tasting white rice, which had peas, carrots and corn in it, was pressed into a heart shape. The black beans in its watery sauce were very good. The plantains were cooked to a perfect firmness, and had a perfectly matching natural sweetness to them. The small block of slightly salty cheese also had a nice firmness to it. The price for each meal was very reasonable. Overall, this was a good dining experience.

There are certain things they make better than others. For instance, the chuchitos are pretty good! The Pepian that I ordered didn't really taste like Pepian, but more like a guisado. It was still pretty good, it just wasn't Pepian haha ! They have traditional drinks and they even have pan francés! The Guatemalan snacks they have are very convenient when you have antojos! I would say the service is pretty friendly and the ambiance is pretty authentic! We have been here several times and will definitely return!

Plan to spend at least $8 for lunch. My usual go to trucks are Mix'd Burgers, Seven Seas and Gekko isn't too bad either. What I like: Mix'd Up: Rockin Hero burger with extra Tzatziki sauce. (Lamb burger) $8.00. Mix'd Up : Sante Fe burger. Which is a black bean burger for the Veg heads or if you just love black beans like I do. $7 or $8....cant remember. It's only a dollar, go ahead....splurge a little. Lol Moving on...... Seven Seas: lamb gryro with loaded fries. It's worth every $12. The fries are loaded with feta and tzatziki sauce. Other than this.....like ordering from here Especially when I get to see the Owner's dreamy eyes. He's so handsome! (I can dream, right?) Gekko: Only been once. I tried a shrimp teriyaki bento box. It was filling and I think I spent somewhere between $12 to $15. Will probably try again one day. Well that's my long awaited review of Food Truck Thursday corner of 12th Street & Peachtree Street. If you don't want to spend most of your lunch hour standing in line, best time to go is 11:00 - and…read moreI heard after 1:00. We arrived today just after 11, and the line for Yumbii was reasonable and there were almost no lines at the other food trucks. Last week, we arrived after 11:30 and the lines were miserably long - at least 30-40 minutes for Sweet Auburn BBQ just to place an order, and then maybe another 10-15 minutes for the food. Honestly, the food wasn't worth the wait. I guess there's this expectation that street food is supposed to be unique - something I can't find at the everyday restaurant. And isn't street food supposed to be cheap - like average $5. But I still made the decision to try Sweet Auburn BBQ b/c I was so drawn to the smell of smoking meat. And maybe psychologically I was drawn b/c it had the 2nd longest line so maybe the food is really good. I got the $8 plate which included choice of meat, side, and Texas Toast - I decided on the beef brisket (ok) and the jicama & Asian pear slaw (good). Texas Toast was more like Texas bread - thick but not toasted, and plain w/ no garlic butter :( I tried my friend's salad w/ BBQ chicken - pretty good but nothing special either. If you're looking for a more authentic street food experience, your time might be better spent waiting in line for the other food trucks. So today, I finally had my first Yumbii - and it will not be my last :) My favorite was the sesame fries esp. the chipotle ketchup. The fries are dusted w/ salt & chili flakes, and you can taste a hint of the sesame oil - it really works! Fries are $3 and the portion is enough for 2 ppl. Yumbii tacos are $2 and $3. I had 2 tacos which was plenty - they are deceivingly filling! I enjoyed the fish taco ($3) which was surprisingly 1 big piece of fish (vs. the usual 2-3 tiny pieces you get at other places). I wasn't a fan of the spicy pulled pork taco ($2) - it was spicier than expected and dripping with oil :( And like week #1, we got a King of Pops to enjoy on our walk back to work. I tried the Mojito this time which was nice & refreshing - my only complaint is that all the herbs sank to the bottom of the popsicle which probably can't be helped. I'll just have to come up with a more creative way of solving that problem :) Overall I'm still giving 5 stars b/c I'm a huge fan of street food.

The lot has lots of trash and was really dark and run down but there is plenty of parking lol. Definitely don't let that scare you. Prob wouldn't go alone as a female at night but with people I felt okay. ***AMBIANCE*** Okay also not gonna lie the ambiance was giving all kinds of vibes lol when you walk in you do feel like you're in an authentic restaurant when the music is in Spanish, all tv's on Spanish channels, not a single thing is in English. All signs and menus are fully in Spanish. The people inside were only speaking Spanish. The only odd vibe was that there are casino machines lined up on the right and there was a loud base in the music. It was like we were almost in a gas station with the casino machines and a night club with the music all mixed into a Mexican restaurant. There were two tables of guys drinking and one guy sleeping on one of the machines lol. It def felt very hole-in-the-wall which usually does make for the best food so I didn't really care about the location or ambiance we were just there for a To-go order. ***SERVICE*** The lady who took our order was nice. I asked if they had any vegetarian options and she kind of didn't understand and then she just shook her head so I was like ok well guess I'll just get chicken since I am trying to eat a little chicken now despite mainly eating vegetarian-only. The wait was extremely long, but I knew it would be worth it. Just be prepared to wait! No one else was ordering but I guess they were in the back whipping it all up from scratch. Again it was very late on a Sunday so I'm sure normal hours it would be better but didn't come for the ambiance anyways and I didn't mind the wait! ***FOOD*** Now for the good part, the food was DELICIOUS!! Seriously loved the enchiladas. I thought they were coming with rice and beans from what the menu said but we just got enchiladas. They were still wonderful though!! You can't really see them on the photos under the salad but 10/10. Really excited to go back and try more things on the menu!! ***PRICE*** Menu didn't have prices and she just said 21$ when we paid. Idk if each was 10.50$ or if there was any kind of charge or anything but either way not bad! ***CONCLUSION*** Definitely will be back to try some tacos next time!! Worth a try just don't get hung up on aesthetics lol
