This local spot serves up authentic food in an unassuming spot - plus some of the best Queso Birria Tacos ever!!! On this visit, we of course got the tacos, the Chimichanga, and a burrito. We couldn't have the meal without their famous horchata, which we got a pitcher of to share - yum! Definitely one of my favourite recommendations for a trip to Cambridge.

Well, I drive to Shinwa and discover it's in a place called University Shops Plaza, which is filled with eateries. So many choices! I go to Shinwa and the wait was epic. I was hangry! Fresh Burrito had no line up and since it's fast food mexican, like Chipotle, Mucho Burrito and such chains, they make your stuff right away in front of you. I was pleasantly surprised that the food was quite good, for what it was. They had a special promotion, $5.99 for a small burrito. They say 10" but that is the diameter of the tortilla, not the length of the burrito, lol. I got the chicken, with rice, black beans, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and medium salsa. I found a rogue corn kernel in my burrito. Corn is one of the possible toppings (which I did not request). There is cross contamination, so if you have allergies, beware. The amount of protein was satisfactory. It was well seasoned and was real chicken meat, not weird chicken cutlet like at Subway. The other ingredients were good too. I would have liked a bit more lettuce though. Service was friendly and efficient. I would recommend Fresh Burrito if you are at University Shops Plaza and want quick food that's inexpensive and decent tasting. Lots of free parking in the plaza.

(on top of having better food places in general) I got the large chicken burrito with everything on it. It was 9.19 which is marginally cheaper than burrito boyz. It was pretty large and not bad overall. It was surprisingly fresh and decent for a quick burrito. The place is pretty new in the plaza and seems to be a cheaper and closer location to get burritos for UW students compared to SLC or the Laurier plaza.

Margaritas are good and the pitcher feels like good value. They rim the margarita glasses with some sort of sugar-tajin mix. Delicious. Great value in the kids meals too. The menus don't always show the gluten-free options or whether a particular restaurant has any. I was delighted to see Burrito Boyz had GF burritos right there on the Skip site menu. Beyond that, they have burrito options that include sweet potato, one of my favorite foods! I ordered a steak and sweet potato burrito with pretty much every topping you can think of. I like lots of topping options and heat. They did deliver on that. My hubby got a steak burrito with just a few toppings. He's more of a meat and potatoes guy and doesn't have the same adventurous taste buds as I do. Let's get to the disaster....the (and this is what they are officially named) Cheese Nachos. Because of our different tastes, most of the toppings I ordered on the side: jalapenos, salsa verde, sour cream, guac, etc. We chose nacho cheese and I also ordered refried beans on the side. We got our order in good time. It's really cool how you can see exactly where the driver is on the app. He was nice enough but really too rushed to be friendly. So, we open the order. There is NO CHEESE FOR THE NACHOS. They also left out the refried beans. I was seriously put off. How can you even eat nachos with ZERO cheese? I immediately went to the site and lodged a complaint. I did get a refund for the nachos, but I still wasn't happy. Hubby had to use a block of cheese I'd bought to make something else, but at least that saved the taste. I was still missing those beans though. This review was going to be three stars for the lack of those very important items, but then I bit into that burrito. OMG steak and sweet potato, so many other flavors. The GF wrap was grilled and had a nice char--best tasking GF wrap I ever tasted. I did pay for extra for extra cheee though, and I didn't feel the burrito had that. I also asked for hot flavor and although the nachos had that the burrito did not. We actually asked for mild heat on the nachos for hubby, so maybe they got that backward? The taste of that burrito will have me ordering again, along with the fact that they care enough to cater to the GF crowd. I just really hope they never leave the beans and cheese off the nachos again. Nachos with zero cheese is a major fail...but the burrito almost completely made up for it with the explosion of flavor.
