Tremont Towing manually wrote and charged a "Class A Tow Rate" of $274.00, which is nearly double the legal limit. Furthermore, they tacked on a $150.00 "Administrative Fee" citing FS 713.78. The car was hooked, towed, and retrieved in exactly 44 minutes. Under county and state law, an administrative or lien fee cannot be charged for the first 24 hours. There was no paperwork filed, no notice mailed, and zero justification for this fee. It is a pure phantom charge meant to pad their pockets. To make matters worse, when my wife went to retrieve the vehicle, the front desk attendant illegally refused to accept credit or debit cards, forcing her to pay $424.00 in cash under the threat that they would keep the car and rack up more fees. Forcing cash-only at a non-consent redemption window directly violates Miami-Dade County Sec. 30-473(k). They extorted $279.00 in illegal overcharges from a stranded pregnant woman by weaponizing her vehicle against her. On 3/28/2026, I parked my vehicle in the Miami Beach area near Eden Roc and paid for parking through the ParkMobile app under zone parking lot near Eden rock Hotel at Miami Beach. The payment was successfully processed, and I relied on your system in good faith to confirm that parking was permitted. Despite having an active and paid parking session, my vehicle was towed without my consent, and I was forced to pay $464.00 in towing and related fees. Your application allowed me to select and pay for a parking zone in an area where parking was apparently restricted. This is misleading and unacceptable. Tremont Towing put me on hold for 40 minutes and left me totally stranded. I had to pay for an Uber to go to their office, all the while I was still on hold until I entered the office. The manager said she didn't have enough staff and I watch her continuously put people on hold and put the phone down. Then she asked for $400 in cash to release the car. $400 for one car is enough to hire a person for the day to answer the ringing phones. These people are complete crooks. They towed my car after I had paid to park in the lot with the app that was provided there to pay. I started the time at 8:54pm, started it before I got out of my car to ensure I had it started. We go back out the next morning and my car was gone and had been towed. We contacted to Tremont towing company and they confirmed that they had the car. They said if we could show proof of paying to park they would release my car. We get there showed the lady at the front desk and she said, " I don't know what that is" we need proof. Lady this is the only proof I had and I had done the parking to last for 24 hours! She said we don't monitor those apps. So if you don't monitor, then how do you know who has paid and who hasn't?? So when I asked when they picked the car up she said they picked it up at 8:30pm. We weren't even there at 8:30!! I started the app again when I parked my car at 8:54pm. So I asked if we could see proof of the time of the tow truck that towed my car, she then replied that she didn't need to show or prove anything to me. I told her that we weren't even there at 8:30. She totally dismissed anything we said. Charged us $447 to get my car and we did everything that we were supposed to do with parking. I went inside to see where to do my installation, and then I went back outside to get the drill, and my car was gone. If you are renting a car and you get tow; they will tell you that you need a letter from the rental company that allow you to get the car.So basically, you can drive the car with your rental agrement but you can not get your car back, after paying the fee, from Tremont. (CAN YOU BELIVE??) The rental company (In this case ENTERPRISE group) they will not give you any letter, but Tremont will keep your car for three days and after they will release to them. So YOU, yes YOU, will have to pay the fine (and that is normal), plus two days of storage (even if is not your fault), plus the rental agreement to the rental company. These people literally tried to steal my car. I called the police they told me this company had it. I called the company they denied having it at least 4 times. I called the police back they said the company actually did have it and made a mistake, she just "didn't see it." Car is in the very front of the tow lot, literally the first one in the front. Called back again and the company just answered and hung up on me without speaking 3 times in a row then put me on hold until I just got a taxi there. I had to unfortunately encounter this business last week while I was trying to enjoy my long overdue vacation time in Miami Beach. They unlawfully towed my car from an authorized parking spot on Collins Ave. Mind you, I parked there on a Tuesday (photo attached). I went in to pick up my car (you can imagine I was angry) and I let them know they unlawfully towed me. They lied and tried to say I was in a loading zone (again I have photos to prove I wasn't), refused to release me my car (it was a rental), and threatened to call the cops if I didn't leave the premise. He said it so smugly, it was clear they were in bed with the local police. The rental car company had to get the car released a few days later resulting in hefty fees. After doing some google searches, I discovered this company has a long history of illegal towing in the form of class action lawsuits. They even were accused of not paying some of their employees, which is hilarious since they are boasted on their former reality show as a "family business" like they wholesome and honest. I was curious of how they had so many good reviews, then I realized it was just superfans of their now defunct tv show. I also noticed they are not accredited on the BBB website with a beautiful F rating. The fact that they have been in business for 38 years and not accredited is SUPER sketch and scammy on its own. It shows they are utterly unwilling to take any responsibility for their actions and yet they have a license to "legally" steal cars. I am mostly writing this review because I want to spread awareness and urge people to not let this deplorable company bully you and make you feel like you are the criminal.
