My husband and I are not from the area as we were just visiting for the Iron Man Triathlon. We arrived 2 days before race day and on the day before his race, my husband lost the front wheel (after setting it down). Last minute, we were calling all the bike stores in town and Dennis was the only one who could help us in such a short amount of time. I recently got back into riding again. It's been a long time. I've been going to spin, but they are two different worlds. I bought a used older electra 7 speed and have been riding that in my neighborhood. I'm on a hilly area and was struggling, but getting stronger. I decided I needed a new bike Werth lower gears. Checked out Trek in PD and test rode 3 different bikes. Shelby helped me out. She was very informative and easy to work with. I really wanted to dual sport because of the wider tires. Just picked up my older Stump jumper from service dept. It was going pretty well until I discovered a new problem with my rear suspension. The air shock was clearly leaking and bottoming out. (this was discovered by me on a short test ride in the parking lot) Having just spent over $200 for new cables, shifters, and housing, I was looking forward to taking a nice ride. Dennis was kind enough to inflate it for me but didn't address the fairly obvious fact that it was just going to deflate again... sure enough, 15 minutes into my ride... bottoming out again. When I then called the shop to inquire about a possible solution, unfortunately, I was greeted by a clearly flustered voice (that turned out to be Dennis) who apparently was bothered by my call and my questions. I wasn't complaining at all, I was just seeking a solution (repair or replace the shock?) What I got were short, unhelpful answers, in a condescending tone. My question is this: Why would you answer the phone if you don't have the time or proper attitude to help the person on the other end. How ironic and counter productive it is to treat someone so poorly when you would have been much better off not answering the phone. read more

I am happy to share the customer service at Trek Bike Palm Desert. Tyler, the Trek Bike store manager in Palm Desert, CA was awesome. In fact, his staff was helpful as well. I appreciate the support of being a new Trek bike owner (Rail Carbon eMTB). I have never owned a Trek before but knowing there's a network of Trek Bike Stores I can go to for high-quality customer service is awesome! Ok, so I haven't rode a bike sense I was a child and tormenting my younger brother by chasing him down on it. With that being said, I missed that feeling of riding a bike freely down the road, wind in my hair, and sun glistening on my skin. I went to Walmart first to look at bikes. Wasn't really feeling the selection. So I ventured here, to Palm Desert Cyclery (yes, I know such an extreme jump from $200 Walmart bikes). I came in just to browse the bikes and chiseled men; both did not disappoint. I wasn't planning on purchasing a bike, let alone a bike over $1,000! Until Scott helped assist me! He was patient, informative, educational, comical, and took his time to help assist me- as I had no absolute clue where I was or what I was about to buy! I spent nearly $700 on bike tuneups and repairs for two bikes and they refused to change the batteries on the speed sensor - one of the bikes was a Trek that came with this unit. Now we are struggling to change remove the battery on the Bontrager DuoTrap. We asked them to do it and they said that they don't do it. Will seek a new bike shop next time. Wife and I moved to the Valley a couple of months ago. Our beach cruisers had been in storage the past 4-5 years, so I was looking for a bike shop that could take care of servicing them. Tried calling a couple of shops but they didn't answer their phone or return messages, or they said that they were too busy to take new customers... Called Trek and they where welcoming and told me to bring them in anytime. We dropped off my 16 y/o Electra Rat Rod and my wife's 9 y/o Greenline Kruiser on Wednesday. Staff was super happy, friendly, and eager to help. From Gary helping me bring the bikes in to Bobby in service explaining in detail what they would do to the bikes. Trek texted me today (Saturday) and advised that the bikes were ready for pickup. When I arrived I was amazed at how great both bikes looked. They looked brand new! Tyler and Bobby took the bikes out to my vehicle and loaded them, I didn't have to lift a finger! I recently took in 2 bikes to be serviced and the team did an excellent job. The technician quickly diagnosed that my 1986 Diamond Back needed new tires, chain and brake pads, while the early 2000's Felt needed a new chain, brake pads and shifters. Both were ready to go within 2 days of dropping them off. Although the overall cost was a bit painful to swallow, both bikes are like new again, clean and ready to ride. I'm glad I made the investment and brought them to Trek. read more

In the age of COVID, I understand that bikes are in high demand and bike stores are busier than they have been in years . . .which can be stressful for the employees. Today was my 1st time at this location, and was looking forward to coming here regularly since this is right down the street from my house. My partner and I just purchased a bike from a thrift shop and wanted to see if Palm Desert Cyclery could add new tires and a chain. Maybe the store associate we spoke with had a stressful customer prior to us, because his attitude and demeanor suggested that we were a waste of his time. It was as if he assumed that we couldn't afford any of the inventory and it was clear from his body language and lack of eye contact. He said that his bike inventory of under $2,000 was sold out and maintenance was unavailable until late July. It was as if every question we had asked him was asked by several customers all day long and he seemed a bit annoyed. I'm sorry to leave this type of review, but please make the customer feel valued. I was actually interested in the mountain bike inventory but didn't feel comfortable asking anymore questions about them. I'll just go elsewhere for my biking needs. I'm giving this 2 stars because the bikes look incredible, but I'm not going to spend a couple grand on one if the customer service isn't 5 stars. read more

I only come here if I desperately need something and I think they have it. There are a couple nice guys that work there (Scott and Seth) I believe are their names. Knowledgeable, polite and helpful however when I come in but its still tough for me to give this place my business considering some of the following issues.. - bike service takes a very long time. Simple tune ups can take a week. - low selection on bikes, parts and gear - hours online don't reflect their actual operating hours. - if you're looking for a specific bike part there is a very good chance they don't have it but they can order it and it only takes twice as long for them to get it rather than myself ordering it online and it coming in 2-3 business days. - bike mechanics in the back are cold and barely willing to look at you or answer any questions If I run out of chain lube, want to grab some tire levers or a tube and im too impatient to order that off Amazon then ill stop in but thats about it. read more

Once again, I must expatiate this salient fact: there is no better bike shop in Southern California. Period. No hyperbole here. I have bought four bikes over the past 7 years from them--and not once have I ever felt pressured or made to feel inadequate or like some naive cyclist. They truly exude a sense of passion for the bikes they sell; even more, they genuinely strive to make sure you are getting the best bike for your individual needs. And my experience today was no different: had to get a tuneup for my secondary bike and purchase a new saddle for one that brought on my Specialized Roubaix. Corey was full of acumen on my options--and went out of his way to make me feel welcome in the store and I was the most important person at that moment. Put succinctly: man knows his customer service in spades. And then I had Danny and his mechanics in the back do an amazing job fixing the issues on my Trek commuter bike--and not once trying to force me into buying parts I didn't need. I can vociferously state I would not take my bikes anywhere else. These guys are masterful in getting your bike back in shape and ready to hit the rode. I went in yesterday looking for a pair of bike shoes. Jay greeted me upon entry and walked me to the shoe department. He had me try on several of the most comfortable bike shoes I have ever try. Sadly they were not wide enough so he looked up some sight that might carry the odd size I was looking for. He also helped me find an unusual bike carrier I needed. This store has an incredible selection of Oakly sun glasses. And I was amazed by the huge number of bikes on display. During covid other bike shops I have visited had few bikes, but not this store. I called on a whim because this specific bike was all out of stock in LA so I decided to drive 2 hours in traffic to Palm Desert Cyclery and I'm sure glad I did. The bike is great and the service was even better. Brad was very professional and no pressure to buy which made me felt very comfortable he even gave me a fitting for free and showed me the ins and outs of the battery system. I rarely give reviews but I have to give credit where credit is due is due.  I took my Pinarello Dogma to Trek Bicycle Palm Desert to put some upgrades on my ride with a tune-up as well as well.
