At NO TIME was I updated on the status of my car nor was I ever given any sort of timeframe of when my car would be ready. I spoke with the manager and explained that it was unacceptable to just forget about any customer and not keep them informed on the status of their vehicle. I feel he didn't act like he cared and definitely felt like he didn't care about me! I also explained to Blake the same thing about not keeping me informed and he had the same attitude as the manager. I guess Blake was too busy "playing" on his cellphone to care about me as a customer. I also told Blake that if there was another Discount Tire available for me to take my business, I would NEVER Return to the Discount Tire in Palestine!

Then asked him to see if I had a bad sensor because the low tire light stayed on even though the tires were at proper inflation. He said it probably had a bad battery, but since he didn't know which one he wanted to repair all four at a cost of 63.50 each. At one time, when they replaced tires, they rebuilt the sensors at no charge when they put new tires on. They even showed me the old sensor parts to prove they did it. When they took off the tires they told me I needed to buy new lug nuts at fifty dollars a box as I had one that was rounded off, I refused this also because Discount Tire are the only ones that have ever taken a tire off of any of my vehicles!! If it is rounded off, it is because of them! Have used discount tires for well over 20 years, but this was the final time!!!

It took him three times to get it done and it's working like a champ now! He told me it was a Learning experience for him and didn't charge me anything! You rarely see business owners these days able to care about anything but cash flow. But when you focus on your own knowledge base and your customer's happiness, you got it made. I'm a conservative driver and maintained air pressure. John gave me a very fair adjustment on a new set of tires. as for oil changes, Walmart has done a great job with each of my older cars. This is a local tire company in Palestine, Texas. We were on the last day of a 4 week road trip…read morewhen I began experiencing trouble. This was the 2nd stop to attend to tires in 20 miles. We were so lucky the trouble occured during work hours and in a town. Mattern's Tire Co was our second stop having replaced another tire just 20 miles up the road in Henderson. We thought it was the same trouble (failiure of the wall of tire due to poorly done alignment). So, we went to this store with the recommendation of some locals at a C-sore. Here they were ready to help us! They had the right sized tire in stock and proceeded to do the change. Whle changing it they discovered it was not the tire but the tire stem. They brought the problem tire out to us and explained what was going on. Not having a stem with sensor in stock they replaced the stem with the standard kind and put out tire back on. They did not charge us for this service! We did leave a nice tip for the store to share but the fellow taking it said, no thanks and that he would give it to the employee who actually did the work. I really appreciate a business that figures out what the problem and finds a solution rather than one that tries to sell you all the add ons. The store was very clean. It was big. And it was set up well for waiting. There was a pool table, a few tables (like patio tables) with chairs with a variety of magazines placed about. And there was a complete set of dominoes. The wait was not long. Everyone was very pleasant and friendly too.

Their Insurance company has until the 11th of October to refund my costs as the insurance appraiser ruled for me based on the aggregious threat to my life safety based on the negligent work performed here. As of this writing I know that what I first believed was negligence was actually malice . They did not perform work that they said that they would. The work they did do .. Place rotors on backwards etc. The misdiagnosis that I originally thought was to make money off of a higher priced service Manifold which I did not need and Water Pump that I did need actually need and ignoring things that could have killed me on the road I NOW know were done purposefully and that there are several others in Palestine whose vehicle has been damaged by Matterns Tire and Auto. They have until the 11th of October to pay the insurance claim for what I spent there. If they do not contact me by the 11th this yelp review will serve as my attempt to make sure that they don't do this to anyone else. So I borrow a friends hubby to help and apparently they pulled the track out of one side and zip tied the other... then charged me. So I paid 150 bucks for them to gut my car and not fix anything.
