A great B & B. We…read morestayed here for four nights as we were attending a local wedding. As former award winning innkeepers we were very impressed with what we found. The hosts were both charming and very helpful and also their two dogs were lovely. However for non dog lovers be assured that you go to them in their space and they do not live within the guest accommodation. We were greeted and offered a delicious complimentary afternoon tea upon arrival. The newish owners have found their calling and everything was in tip top shape, the whole place was immaculately clean. Breakfast selection had enough choices to tickle your taste buds but not too many to choose and the full English was well cooked with really tasty local bacon and pork and marmalade sausage. My only small suggestion might be offer more interesting bread. However the pain au raisin/croissant were superb. We slept well however i would have preferred a king bed as I wriggle. The pillows and duvet were excellent but we removed the duvet from the cover as the nights were warm. There is choice of TV channels and a small fridge in the room which to our delight contained fresh milk. I must also mention the good local tea bags as they made a very good strong cuppa. Bathroom smellies were also of a high quality and the bath towels enormous. Good location and off road parking made for a secure and comfortable quiet stay.

I was met at the door by the very friendly owner. She made me feel very welcome. She arranged to have my bill finalised and a receipt left on my bed and a taxi ordered in the morning to take me to the station early in the morning. Great service. The room was basic but clean and comfortable.great value for the £35 I paid for a good night sleep . Sadly I did not get to try the breakfast as I had to leave at 6:45 and breakfast did not start till 8:30. A little late for a business user. Would I stay again ? Most defiantly I will .

Had a wonderful stay here…read more Just came off 5 nights in London and were were in dire need to decompress. The Grosvenor fit the bill perfectly. Perched on The Hoe, it's about 100 yards from some of the most spectacular scenery in the world, Plymouth harbor and an easy walk along the sea to the Barbican area. The rooms are very comfortable (maybe a little old fashioned) with enough modern conveniences such as very fast wi-fi and flat screen TV - to make your in room time relaxing (we did not always find such good wi-fi in our travels). There are menu items (not a buffet) for breakie that are well cooked and served to a perfection in fine English fashion. I learned from the staff what eggs and soldiers are, for example. The hotel includes a small bar for that chapeau de soir after a long day of touring. The desk staff at any time of the day were charming and so helpful. For what we wanted in a hotel (not really a B&B in my mind), we could not have done better.

The staff at this hotel are really friendly and accommodating and offered me advice on where to go and how to get there. At breakfast you are encouraged to choose just exactly what you want from the usual breakfast options (and the food was good too!) and as well as starting the day right, you can end it right at their bar, which has a really good selection of bottled local ales (including the wonderful Cornish Knocker by Skinners). Most hotels in Plymouth seem to be in this part of town right near Plymouth Hoe. This makes for an unusual few streets that feel a bit odd because the people living in them are always being replaced on a daily basis.

Like most family run hotels there was the personal service and clients were called by their first names rather than the formal Mr & Mrs or Ms. We were booked in for 4 nights and on arrival we were greeted with the normal pleasantries and after a long journey a nice cup of tea for me and a coffee for my better half. We then unloaded the cases and were shown to our room. The room was well appointed and had modern wooden furniture which matched and a small en suite shower room with WC. The hotel also provided comp toiletries and clean towels every day. There was a colour TV with digital channels as well as tea and coffee making facilities. Parking.. There are 3 parking spaces at the rear, however there are no parking restrictions on either Bridge Road or the road at the rear of the hotel and parking is free. and you are able to access reception from front and rear of the hotel. We found the bed very comfortable and the drinks very reasonable from the hotel bar. The Lounge was well appointed and had a colour TV and a computer for guest use. The Owners went out of their way to ensure customers felt valued and welcome at all times. On the day of departure John assisted my partner to load the car due to my disability as we had to park in the rear car park. Only one negative point was that as I am just over 6 foot tall the en suite in room 4 although adequate could have been 6 inches wider So when you book if over 6 foot tell them. We will be back.

I thoroughly recommend this B&B…read more Rosemary (the owner) is very welcoming, and makes you feel as if you've known each other for years. The building is a beautifully converted barn on a dead-end country road, with central breakfast area and a galleried upper floor. Every fitting and piece of furniture is of the best quality, and the beds are very comfortable. In spite of a bereavement in her close family just days before our arrival (of which we were unaware), and having to look after another relative on the night of our stay, Rosemary found time to surprise us with a lovely warm fruit compote to have with our breakfast, having placed it in the Aga the evening before. Anyone reading this, please don't be put off by what you might think is a slightly high price: you really do get what you pay for, and it's worth every penny (as repeated numerous times in her visitors' book!).

[3.5 Stars] Stayed…read moreat this cute hotel tucked away in the corners of Tavi in early February. The rooms are extremely cute and charmingly appointed in antique finishes, fine soaps, novels, robes and slippers, a box of teas and shortbread cookies (packaged, not fresh), and a bottle of water from their true roman well. The staff greet you warmly at the door and seem to remember you like an old friend. The downstairs looks like an old tavern with plush arm chairs and couches. The hotel has a great restaurant for dinner with Michelin like entrees. (Will try to post photos of my meal later). The breakfast offerings were a little sparse, but pleasant. They always had a table with my room number waiting for me. The service was very doting, but inconsistent unfortunately. When I had asked about travel information for the area, they sat me in a huge antique chair and brought me a huge basket of travel books and old pamphlets. They even pulled books from their downstairs shelves and insisted I keep them during my stay. The night manager (or owner), offered to have horse riding reservations made for me at ranches they had relationships with and have me driven anywhere I wanted to go in the area. He told me to just talk to the staff in the morning, but when morning rolled around, the staff didn't seem to be in on all the promises nor did they know anything about nearby stables. Was fine. They helped make other calls for me and get me pricing, but a little odd. The day staff was definitely not as helpful nor knowledgable. There was a slight musty smell in my room. When I asked if all the rooms were like that, I was really impressed with their response. They moved my things immediately to a much larger much nicer room. The next room unfortunately was a bit musty too, but enjoyed the upgrade enough, that it didn't really matter. They have wi-fi at a cost. It unfortunately seemed a little spotty. Had to ask them to bounce their router a couple times, but they always accommodated as quickly as they could. Not perfect, but enjoyable enough. Would definitely consider staying here again.

A very relaxed, quality feeling full of anticipation of being completely spoilt! The menu looked delightful but was about £30 a head as I recall which is, I think, quite expensive for a non-special occasion. Highly regarded by several people who's opinion I would trust and on the list for the next special occasion. The chefs often win prizes in national competitions and the accommodation is, I believe, very stylish although I don;t have first hand experience of it.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Riviera Lodge Hotel. I think by North American standards this…read morewould qualify more as a bed & breakfast or at least in my eyes anyway but either way, it's a really lovely spot. We were in room number 1 that overlooked the parking lot. The room itself is small yet equipped with a double bed, night tables, wardrobe, desk and chair. There's not a lot of room to move around... especially in the bathroom. I should note, there's no lift so if you've got a bit of luggage, consider staying on the first floor (which is only two flights of stairs). I will say, I was surprised by the breakfast which was included with our room. I expected a continental breakfast, which there was (and a quite extensive one at that) but it also included a full hot breakfast too. So while we ordered our Full English we were invited to help ourselves to the buffet. The selection was fresh and with such a wide variety, there was definitely something for everyone. I'm only knocking it down half a star because, even through I did book a compact room, it was way smaller than I had anticipated, however, the room was clean and the dining room, sunroom and pool area absolutely beautiful. I would definitely stay here again... just in a bigger room. :) 4.5 stars.
