We used William Royster to put in a clay/sand arena. He did a terrible job. The arena is not flat…read moreand undulates throughout creating a surface that is not uniform and thus dangerous for horses. There are areas where the surface is up to 6" deep and other areas where it's less than 1/2" deep. We are now having to spend another $10,000 to have the issues William Royster created corrected and the surface redone. We would not recommend William Royster for any type of arena installation. He doesn't seem to know the difference between leveling with a laser transit (which is inadequate for a good riding arena) and laser grading, the latter of which is common practice for arena installations. This in part is why the arena didn't turn out flat. If you are pursuing having a horse arena installed be sure they are laser grading, which involves equipment hooked up to a guidance system to get a surface perfectly flat. This has been a very expensive mistake. I'm hoping to help anyone else avoid the mistakes we made.
