We had a very frustrating and disappointing experience today…read more My young son requires regular medication, and we had a scheduled call that was important to his care. The staff member we were supposed to speak with logged in late (this has happened before). After waiting about 10 minutes, I logged out and back in. During that brief window, she apparently joined, and shortly after, another staff member left a message saying we had left the call and that the appointment could no longer happen. In total, we wasted close to 30 minutes, only to be told there was nothing they could do. When I expressed frustration (which I think is completely reasonable given the circumstances) I was told to "calm down." That response was dismissive and inappropriate, especially when a child's medical needs are involved. Missed appointments, poor communication, and condescending responses are not acceptable in a setting like this. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this business.

I have never had such a great experience with a psychiatrist before. He doesn't just dose the meds, he takes time to get to know the person and offer recommendations. Wow. Thank you, Dr. Lin. I am very impressed by your caring attitude and skills.

It was worth every penny to be honest. In our first few sessions, we went over my family history and the results of the blood work and urinalysis which was so enlightening. I had been going through my life with low thyroid and cortisol levels and wouldn't have known had it not been for her. Her psychoanalysis techniques have me leaving each session with a "lightbulb" moment. I love how her approach to prescriptions and supplements are holistic and naturally derived rather than more popular synthetic forms. She is kind, nurturing, funny, and very approachable. Her front office staff is very flexible and accommodating. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Schuder. I swear me and my husband would be divorced without this woman helping each of us.

I enjoyed spending time with a diverse group of both men and women and made some new friends as a result of my time here. The counselors were all very friendly and helpful especially Trisha who onboarding me upon my arrival and then helped me with our counsel and advice throughout my entire stay. Jesse was also great too...had a very good way of drawing information and truth out of patients and had a wicked sense of humor as well. The one problem I had, and it was a substantial one, was the treatment I received from my assigned therapist Jessica and the head therapist, Brittany. They both harassed me about going through their additional Out-Patient program, known as PHP, even after I told them numerous times that I could not and would not sign up for this. They called my brother and my daughter in an attempt to get the to support their agenda, trying to scare them into convincing me. They both had what seemed to be rehearsed lines. In a meeting with both of them Brittany kept asking me why I couldn't go 5 times after I told her that I had to get back to the 2 restaurants I owned and operated. It was only after I told them that I had retained counsel and that I was told not to respond to them if they continued to bring this subject up. It was only after I mentioned this that they stopped trying to convince me I needed to go to PHP. I had conversations with several other patients, both male and female, who complained about them brow beating them about going to PHP as well and had called relatives trying to, again, scare them as well. I found this extremely unprofessional and was told by a Doctor friend who works for Hoag that the PHP program is a real money maker for them, which explained everything. The Patient Bill of Rights states that we are not to be subject to any 'coercion' but their actions and conversation went way beyond simple coercion into serious harassment and to some of the women involved created serious emotional distress. Unfortunately, this put a pall over my total experience at SolMar only salvaged by the good work of the counselors. I hope this will bring some attention to others who might be considering SolMar for themselves or loved ones. Kindly...

The last thing I would do is lie about a recovery center, my recovery is something I take seriously and just want others to be aware. I can show you proof I was there. I just want people to know what a horrible treatment center you are. Not to mention you are currently in a lawsuit due to your unprofessional practices. You may want to mention to incoming clients you are being sued due to people dying at your facility due to negligence. Oh and side note, one of the techs left a weed pen in the couch that us as clients found. We brought it to the attention of staff and he was just transferred to another house. I will never stop advocating for healthy treatment centers who actually know what they're doing. Please try Northbound so South Coast Behavioral Health. ASANA RECOVERY IS CURRENTLY FACING A FEDERAL LAWSUIT FOR FRAUD & NEGLIGENCE…read more READ THE LAWSUIT: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Cq3gnpNqva4opuuaMqTkKebBPMPAGeGB/view?usp=drivesdk I was a client at Asana Recovery, and I feel a responsibility to share my experience so that others don't end up in the same distressing and unsafe situation. This facility is not what it advertises. While the staff members were often kind and clearly doing the best they could under impossible circumstances, they were the only positive aspect of my time there -- and unfortunately, their hands were tied by the facility's terrible management, lack of clinical oversight, and unethical practices. To begin with, Asana fails to provide even the most basic elements of actual rehabilitation. There was no real medical supervision, no clinicians on-site, and absolutely no structure. Days passed without therapy, treatment programming, or meaningful support. There were no scheduled group sessions with professionals, no one-on-one counseling, and nothing that resembled a recovery plan. It felt more like a holding facility than a treatment center. The living conditions added to the chaos. Food was scarce -- there were barely enough groceries to prepare proper meals, and dietary needs were ignored. There were no outings & no stimulation. We were isolated and left to sit in discomfort both physically and mentally. It felt like we were being warehoused until insurance ran out. But what truly shook me -- and what I still struggle to process -- was what happened when I expressed the desire to leave. As soon as I mentioned wanting to leave AMA (Against Medical Advice), everything changed. Staff abruptly cut off my phone calls. I was told I couldn't have access to my personal belongings -- including my wallet, phone, and ID -- for 72 hours. Without my belongings, I had no way to safely leave or contact anyone. It was a deliberate tactic to trap clients inside. This wasn't just my experience -- I personally witnessed other clients being manipulated or pressured into staying, even when they were clearly not receiving appropriate care. One person begged to go to the emergency room due to a serious medical issue, and they were denied. It was terrifying. The lengths Asana will go to in order to keep clients on the census -- whether or not it's safe -- are absolutely unethical. To be clear: the staff I met were compassionate and tried their best, but they had no real authority. The core problem is the facility itself -- the leadership, the system, the absence of actual clinical care, and the way they manipulate and trap vulnerable people for profit. If you are looking for help, please avoid Asana Recovery. You deserve real treatment with licensed professionals, safety, dignity, and respect. This was not that.
