My car died in the center lane of the NJ Turnpike. I was lucky enough to get to the breakdown Lane and called the Turnpike's emergency number. They told me a tow truck would arrive within a half hour. And to my surprise, they really did arrive within half an hour. The driver, Frank, was polite and efficient. They are only getting 1 star because it would not allow me to leave a review . This company is awful , unprofessional and deceitful . Our driver broke down on the side of the road for a battery issue and was offered a courtesy tow. Then after they jumped the truck was told he was being charged $750 which went to $802 to $1289 . The driver was not told this information and the last time I heard of courtesy someone will let you know what a charge will be before they do anything. The other part of this bait and switch company and the City of NJ is that on a restricted highway you can only use them, and we had roadside assistance as well. Shannon was awful to deal with very rude , unprofessional and said we were wasting her time. I had to reach out to our freight broker to let him know what was going on prior to payment and she then sent a tow driver out when I gave authorization for my card to make the payment increasing the payment to $1289. When I talked with the police officer that was kind and professional he said the driver had 10 hours he could have worked on the truck as well and was not provided that information. I will be filing a complaint with New Jersey Consumer Affairs. Yes, we had to take care of it and every person have their day . What you take advantage of people today can shut your whole company down tomorrow. We will take the loss this company was of no assistance and the people is just as road price gouging trucking companies and drivers . It was a horrible experience with the whole ordeal taking 3 hours, on a cold dark evening sitting on the exit ramp of NJ turnpike exit 8A. Treat's Garage driver did not know the rules (or intentionally misguided), causing significant inconvenience! In speaking to the NJTA representative, the tow company is expected to tow to the nearest safe location. The driver denied the request to tow the car to my home, which is 1.6 miles (4 minutes) away from the stranded location or even a tire shop 2.3 miles away. Instead he stated that THEY HAVE TO tow it to their garage (Treat's garage), which was 15.4 miles (22 minutes) away!! He asked to then contact AAA to tow it again to any other preferred location. It is ridiculous and illogical to inconvenient the stranded traveler in such a way!! This just feels like a scam where knowing that Treat's garage provides repairs and tire replacement services, they want to unprofessionally generate more business!! And if the car owner doesn't get it repaired by them and doesn't get it towed out of their parking lot by 9:30am, then they charge $46!!! read more

GROSSLY UNPROFESSIONAL & UNETHICAL: Failed to perform their due diligence and wrongfully towed a vehicle under false pretenses. This likely implicated them in the THEFT of my vehicle. While I don't think their involvement was intentional, it = NEGLIGENT BUSINESS PRACTICES. They didn't even have the courtesy of contacting me about having possession of my vehicle - although they had my name and address. They essentially HID MY VEHICLE for 30+ days while it's whereabouts were being investigated. = LACK OF MORAL STANDARDS. When the vehicle was finally tracked down, their fees had grown to over $1,600! This was far more than I was willing to pay, especially since the vehicle had been "stolen" from me, and frankly more than it was worth. I really didn't even want to be bothered with pursuing legal action - but I had been wronged and I was not going to accept a personal loss. I contacted Shannon, the so-called "Boss", trying to find a reasonable solution. And, I graciously warned her that they "may" have liability, but I was not accusatory at all. I was shocked by Shannon's response... over-the-top HOSTILE, CRUDE, and downright ABUSIVE. She acted like a rabid beast - cornered. UNBELIEVABLE ...and my only request had been to get a few more days to negotiate a settlement with the responsible parties. (Lucky for them I did not have to pursue legal actions. I had a serious collision with a pothole/obstacle on the turnpike, Exit 9 on-ramp at midnight. First time dealing with a tow from the Turnpike. After realizing that my insurance roadside-assistance couldn't help me, I called Mackey/Treat's. They were there in 15 minutes. The driver was very helpful and the tow to their garage was reasonable. I knew I had 2 blown tires, and Treat's worked with me to find appropriate replacements. I got a call letting me know that my damage was much worse than just tires -- still no charge -- based on what they could see from the ground (not the lift). Initially, I was going to sell my vehicle (2004 Highlander) to Peddle.com for $1100. Shannon, front desk at Treat's, was super cool and charged me for only one night storage, even though the car was there was 4 days. The Peddle carrier didn't show the next day, fortunately, and I had second thoughts on selling, so I paid Treat's to provide an estimate on the damage just to know what I was dealing with. The estimate came to $3400. I cancelled the sale to Peddle and authorized the work to be done at Treat's -- used cars are extremely expensive right now, so it was worth it. Plus, I've owned the car for 12 years and trust it. The mechanic, Adam, was able to get the job done for $3000, and that's all I was billed. They even fetched the busted rims, axle, control arm, etc. out of the dumpster so that I could take a picture for insurance (see pics). They walked me through the problems, and couldn't have been nicer the whole time. That control arm required dropping the engine to replace -- serious work, plus the struts, tires, balancing, alignment...Adam found used rims at a bargain price to help keep cost down. I've never had the cost of a repair come in under the estimate -- ever -- and the car drives better than before! In short, they were super friendly, saved me a bunch of money, and were easy to work with. I only wish they weren't 35 miles from where I live (Cherry Hill) or I'd use them for all my work! read more

I had my heart set on going to Mavis and driver tries to persuade you out of the place of service you want. Any guy that's familiar with a car knows how outrageously they over charge you for everything. I just need one new tire and me being curious i asked what the price could be & their flat rate was $300 not even including the tow. to be confident in saying that is crazy. Be smart and go to Mavis or Pep boys and don't let them talk you out of where you want to go. I'm not cheap but I'm also not going to give away free hard earned money. They tried to rip my driver off and removed the drive shaft from my vehicle telling me I have to pay to have the drive shaft put back on. when I challenged the bill and service Shannon from the office started yelling and cursing at me in a very unprofessional manner. We're supposed to be picking my friend up from the side of the turnpike and helping him out after his battery died on his way home from a business confrence at the Hilton, and instead impounded his car upon arrival to the shop later in the night and refused him access to his wallet so they could get the payment they nagged him for; after making him wait one hour without any type of communication- and called the cops on him! What amazing service. Our motorhome needed a battery charge in our driveway. We called around and felt very uncomfortable with some of the garages we spoke to. When I called Treats Adam explained what they would do and the charges before they came. I made an appointment for 2:30 and they showed up at 2:30. They charged the battery then checked the alternator level to make sure we don't need a new battery no phoney upcharge or shady business. The guy who came to the house wouldn't even take a tip. A tire came off my truck late Sunday night on the NJTRNPK just before exit 8. My towing bill $584.37 which I fought down to $449.37. This company is a rip off. $72 for towing/service fee, $3.50 per mile (10 miles according to them), winching $125, storage at $35 each day (midnight Sunday which is technically Monday11AM Wednesday the original billed days was 4, fought it down to 3), clean up $100 (the driver literally picked up one tire which he was going to leave but decided to pick it up because we drove by it, got that taken off), admin fee of $25, yard fee $45.00 (this is in addition to storage fee), then there's tax. Stay away from Treats Garage, advice the officer to contact a different towing company. In addition, the manager was extremely rude because I challenged the clean up fee and days of storage. She shhh'd me (literally, as though i was a child), then proceeded to say "you're smarter than me and i'm an a**hole". I was truly discussed. NEVER again. Needed a tow after having mechanical problems on NJ Turnpike . Called AAA and NJ Turnpike Authority had to use a contracted agency which ended up being Treats. Worked with Adam and Shannon who were great. I live 125 miles away from the location we broke down. Adam diagnosed the issue and discussed options available to rectify the issue. The part the vehicle needed could only be located through the auto dealer and was a substantial cost. Staff were understanding of my dilemma, worked with me as I formulated a solution and reasonable. Not knowing this mechanic and if I could trust them I was pessimistic initially. Adam and Shannon kept in continued communication with me, very reasonable, up front and honest. After working with them (mind you all through telephone communication) I was very satisfied and thoroughly trusted they were committed to the customer and would stand behind their workmanship. So I had my car towed today... Had left my wallet in my car told both drivers that I left my card in the car, but I could Pay the $107 +5% if I used my card. I informed the younger kids that I had my card in my wallet, he said he would get it... He proceeded to play in his phone while the older guy was moving cars around. By this time my friend arrived to give my car the Jump it needed to start my car. As I watched them get into another car and pull up to the gate... The cops showed up.... Apparently me wanting to pay for my car isn't allowed. After having a discussion with the cops I was told I had to wait 2 hours to get my car because the driver had another call and it would take too long to swipe my credit card... After the cops told me they couldn't do anything, I asked for my house keys and brief case so I could email my boss... They tow truck driver stated " you should have asked for that earlier".... About 30 minutes later I had my friend call the business card he gave us.... The tow truck driver told him that I had the chance to pay earlier and he is going how after the call he received...he was then told I'd have to wait to get my car until the next day... When I asked him for a storage fee, he said there was none if I got the car before 12.. we will see about that in the am.... Not only that my windot is wide open... It's suppose. To rain tonight so we will see who will he responsible for that damage, if it happens.... Anyway... What these drives also td me is they had no access to the shop or the jump box that was there, yet, when they get there they walk right through the shop.... I've never heard of a business refusing payment in order to screw a person over.... As a small business owner and it really kills me when I see other small busineses treat potential customers like rubbish... They brought me to their shop and proceeded to swindle me out of the 80 dollar tow cost because my AAA card had just expired even though my membership was still active. I got car problems on I-95 Jersey Turnpike while driving from FL to CT after a family vacation. It was Saturday at around 5am when our car wasn't drivable as we were about to lose a front tire due to a worne out front hub bearing assembly. We then were refered to Treat's Garage by the highway authority. Once there and after many attempts to get our car fixed so we can make it home after being driving after 20 hours, the owner or operator without blinking an eye took our car in and worked on it. The man spent 4 hours fixing it on a day that the establishment was closed and there was no mechanics available. Big names like FORD dealerships deny us from getting the service we needed and gave us many excuses. We were six people including three children trying to return home on a Saturday morning. I give them no stars! AAA called them out as they couldn't tow cars off the NJ turnpike. It was a minor thing ( my wiper came off) They came out and explained that they would tow me to their shop but they could not help me once I got there because they were closed! The shop was far from where I was headed and I felt it would be easier to go to the rest stop garage for something this minor. I refused the tow and called a family member instead. Now they are proceeding to swindle me out of the $84 dollar tow cost! Even though they did not tow me they charged my card any way (twice!!).
