He slept in a recliner with metastasized pancreatic cancer for 5 days before his hospital bed arrived, no sheets were provided and they had not made any arrangements for him to be lifted from his recliner into his hospital bed. Further, I was told that they provided 3 visits per week from a nurse's aide to do things like bathing, shaving and so forth, but today marks an entire week since he came home and only after SEVERAL calls and text messages did they finally send someone on Saturday who said she was UNABLE to do all those care items because poor accessibility due to him not being in a hospital bed! She also noted that we should have already received all the supplies for her to use (bed pan, wash pan, etc), yet they have still not arrived after a week with Vitas! Today I asked when I could expect an aide to return since it's been a week and they only showed up once after I had to beg them to send someone, and they told me that nobody was on a schedule for this week!!! His "nurse" called me shortly after I complained and said that while the aide should visit 3 times a week that they'd only bathe him once and that "the family needs to step up and help some"!! He's been home for a week, sleeping in a recliner while Vitas has had a nurse come over twice to check his blood pressure and temperature -- not exactly wonderful care! If you want your loved one to die with dignity and you don't want to have to beg hospice to provide a minimal level of service, avoid Vitas at all costs.

How can I give them zero stars?…read more I can't even begin to explain how horribly my grandmother was treated. She was mistreated / manhandled and neglected. Anytime I would call the nurse's station, I would get the same nurse. Unprofessional, always automatically jumped to defending herself (when I'm simply asking for something for my grandma), rude, gossipy (literally gossiped about me to her coworkers while I was on the phone), and the list goes on. It was like pulling teeth trying to get info from her. It's like she didn't care how my grandma was progressing. I hated calling because I knew they'd give me a hard time. Not long before her hospital stint and rehab, my grandma could get in and out her scooter and a car. She could go to the bathroom herself, get to the fridge in her scooter herself etc. Now she is completely bedbound, cannot even get out of bed. What's the point of rehab when they essentially let her deteriorate? I think they only did rehab once a day, if that. They didn't communicate with us as a family about her progress. We, as a family, are so so disappointed. I am nurse and my entire family is in healthcare. I wish I could say this is just an exaggeration of a review, but sadly it's not. I'm appalled at how bad they let my grandma get. Even on my hardest days as a nurse, I never treat people the way she was treated. We're so so sad. We feel like she'll never recover now that she has lost so much muscle mass. This didn't have to happen. Understaffed I'm sure and under-qualified to care for people. Horrible communicators. Many of the staff members are nasty and don't follow through on their word. One nurse told me if I'm not happy with the care she's getting I can get her discharged. Who says that? And with attitude to boot. Ugh I could go on but y'all get the point. The ONLY nurse we trust there is Pam! What an angel. They don't even deserve her there, she's so caring and kind. Even checked in on my grandma when she wasn't working. Simone is good also. I believe she's social work. But that's it. Whatever you do, DON'T send your family member here. You'll regret it.

There are no structures there; merely private residences and a dead end. The two reviews given previously of 1 star are TOO HIGH. The rating should be zero. It should not be listed by Yelp, and the fact the county allows such a mess to be listed says a lot about their involvement in Boys and Girls Clubs. What a disgrace. The telephone number attached to this listiing is never answered and no calls are returned. There is no value for the children involved, because any child unfortunate enough to go there will be greatly disappointed. And if, as a parent, you were careless enough to send your child there, you would be doing them a great disservice.

His arms are bruised and skin broken open and scabbed from rough handling. he has never had issues with incontinence but because the staff is lazy and afraid of liability problems they put him in a diaper and tell him to pee in it instead of respecting his dignity and helping him to the bathroom. in their care he has gone from being a normal human being to a shell of a person in just three weeks. we have done everything we can to find him a new place and finally ready to move him. so, my wife told them the day before that he was moving and the morning of with three hours of heads up to please get him ready. but when she shows up, they have done nothing. It gets even worse when I show you the food they actually expect you to eat. Who did they hire as the cook ? Homeless person ? The kitchen staff needs to be fired ASAP. Also the manager who let this be served. The only good thing I have heard is the nursing assistants are very nice and do a great job. Why has my dad not been given any of his test results ? My 99 yr old mom was admitted to this facility after she had a small stroke and acquired covid…read morewhile in the ER for 6 hours! I tried to call the facility numerous times at different times and the phone usually just rang and rang with no pickup. Trying to get any info on her condition or speak with her was impossible. I finally put a bad review on their site and got a call the next day. I was not able to visit her and when I finally was able to pick her up and take her to assisted living neither my brother nor I even recognized her when they wheeled her into the waiting room after a 30 min wait. Before the stroke she was living on her own and had no memory issues. When I settled her into her new room in Vero Beach she was so weak, depressed, disheveled. I was told that she was getting PT/OT at Emerald, but I don't believe it. She was so weak she couldn't do ANYTHING and needed help for EVERYTHING. I was with her for 10 days and by the end of my visit she was able to move herself and sit up in bed, swing her legs around and stand to get into the wheelchair. And that was with no PT, just my help getting her to move. Her memory improved and she carried on conversations just as before the stroke. She has no lasting problems from the stroke. This facility was chosen for us by the hospital. I don't suggest that you ever put a loved one there. My mom is fortunate that she did not have bed sores by the time she left after 1 month because I doubt she was ever out of her bed.
