Their food is typical Ligurian style with local classics and lots of options for pasta, fish and meat. I wanted good seafood so, I ordered the local fish stewed in a tomato gravy with olives. This is a huge dish and takes about 30 mins to prepare and, enough for two people to share :-)) at €17 for this main, it's the best fish I have had in a long time. It's a dish made with mussels, prawns, scampi, sardines, cod and couple of other local fish I don't know the names of. Caution : if you don't like bones then don't order this dish ;-)) I even ate the prawns in their shell as it was a thin edible shell. Many people don't like this but, this type of prawn should be eaten whole without peeling :-))) For dessert I had a fabulous milk based cake with a strawberry jus. All in all a fabulous meal and the place was packed outside with no tables free for the evening. Prices are very reasonable and I would have paid almost twice that for the same food in France or Germany :-) If you want good local Genoa cooking with some decent local wines then check this place out. Juno and Jupiter be praised that he indeed is. I don't remember what we ate, but I do remember us being utterly floored by how good it was. So much so that in a four day stay, we came for our evening eats TWICE. The owner is one of those happy, lucky few who truly loves what he does for a living (and extremely good as well) and it is so evident in the food he serves. Heed the words of the first reviewer Crystal. Personally, I think it's the best food north of Napoli and that includes that wonderful arena of gluttony, Bologna. If you goto Torino, go here. They make it with a young basil with pine nuts giving it that neon color green and richness. We love Da Tapulin and have recommended to friends who were lucky to discover Levanto. We found this restaurant through Google Reviews and generally had high hopes, but were blown away by the experience. It's a block or so away from the crazy shore of Como but still was getting a bit loud by the time we left. We waited just 15 minute and he felt bad that he even gave us each a glass of wine! Now on to the food. This place serves southern style Italian seafood. We started with the mix of fritto misto which was calamari, shrimp, and anchovies. It was so lightly fried but so crunchy and the flavor of the seafood really came through. Delicious! Our server also recommended 2 dishes and I simply cannot remember the name of. One was a tuna type fish that was a whole filet.. Its a bit oilier for my liking but my husband raved about it. My white fish was cooked with bread crumbs and tomatoes. It was light. Loved it! This is a local joint. Our taxi driver knew about it and said it was a local favorite. It's a great restaurant kind of on the homey side with really nice people serving really good food. Thumbs up!
