Wonderful sawing technique???) but I have actually popped in here a couple of times and always found the staff to be such sweeties that I thought I would give it a go. Tucked away between houses on Northfield Road this is a building supply company that specialises in wood and timber. I've been in before to ask about chippings for some misguided (and ultimately doomed) gardening project I had in mind and they let me have a load without even charging me. I've also popped in to get some planks and pallets (again a gardening project that never really happened) and they hardly charged me anything at all. Staff are lovely and if you live in Harborne and want a new fence panel (or have grandiose plans for raised beds etc) then I would definitely recommend this place.

The Handyman has been about the most useful shop to me in Tewkesbury that there is as it stocks…read moremost things you could need for most DIY projects and the staff are always willing to offer help and advice if you ask for it. The building was quite badly damaged in the floods a couple of years ago but as a consequence they were able to start again and re-open with a new shop and a really well laid out shop floor. The prices can be a bit on the steep side for some items but there again it probably isn't much more than the larger DIY chains and if you get a trade account you can save 10% straight away. I…read moresay that because at most normal hardware outlets (read 'B&Q') you are served by people who seem quite inept (sure there are many that are not). Always with a smile, always with a view to actually helping you. The people are knowledgeable and will even point you toward cheaper alternatives that will do the job you have in hand just as well as the product you initially came in for. Therein lies the best part of interacting with the staff here: they want to understand the job you are doing first, and then they will sort you out with the right product. I've bought a range of fence panels, treated wood for external construction, screws and bolts of different types and even had these delivered to my home address. Great quality and service from my arrival to product delivery. I happily travel that little extra distance to go here and get my stuff.

The timber yard is at the front of the store, once you select what you want, a chitty is wrote out for you and you go and pay for your goods. The bigger items, requiring a fork lift truck are located at the rear of the store, with payment being made as the same method as mentioned. The problem is usually with the parking as there are limited spaces, which is compounded if a delivery is being made at the time of your visit. Worth bearing in mind is that Travis Perkins offering the same type of items is only round the corner if you wanted to compare prices or if they did not stock what you were after.
