I moved my way up in the company over the next 3 years until they brought in Kris Rockwood as the VP of Sales. Kris comes off as very self centered and extremely concerned about her own goals. She continuously put me down and she made me resent myself and my significant other. I'm so glad I was able to move to another company who gave me a change to be myself and feel good about who I am. I'd never go back to Britten as long as Kris Rockwood is still there. She is not a leader.

Instead, they lumped my title in with a bunch of other titles and did some very generic, half-hearted efforts. When I contacted them to see why they didn't follow through on any of my leads, they told me my book was hard to market and no one wanted what I was selling. If that's the case, why did they take my money in the first place? Why didn't they tell me my title wasn't a good fit for their services? I asked for my money back but that was never going to happen. The press release was made from Microsoft Word - unprofessional and unpleasing to the eye, all hacked together. They promised a professional press release. What I got was an email list. They said they sent out the press release. I got one bite asking for a free copy of my book. They gave the impression that book sales would go through the roof. Just another email marketing scam.

The strength of this publication is the events calendar and nightlife section. Families, singles, tourists, locals, young, old alike, will find something to do in these pages. The features are very good, though uneven at times. Also, they tend to lean to anti-establishment causes, but if you can overlook that (doesn't bother me but may others) you'll still love the NE. This magazine, which is available free from newsstands or for $52 for a full year, has little room for improvement. The publisher knows they have a winning formula and they stick to it. But to get to five stars, how about some more intriguing photos from this beautiful region (enough of the bar scene photos of whoever and whoever staring drunk into the camera) and some harder-hitting local features?
