40 bucks a night is hard to beat, but i've stayed in plenty of budget roadside motels and this one just doesn't stack up. the people that work there are SUPER nice but the room was gross. one holey sheet, no blanket. the carpet is plush, which is just nasty for a hotel. water smelled like eggs, shower did not appear clean. water damage in the asbestos-looking ceiling was creating stalagmites and despite it being a non-smoking room it still smelled like smoke. my biggest problem was the A/C, which was on a thermostat and would shut off after a certain point, but the problem was the AC took the fan with it.. so it went from white noise to dead silence every 20 minutes and i couldn't sleep with the thing kicking in and out. it was too hot for just the fan.
there was a fridge and freezer which was greatly appreciated.
so this part.. started by something that was my fault to begin with but c'mon, i can't be the only person to ever leave something behind, and hotels do return things for people quite often.. but it kicked of a ridiculous set events..
rushed by the housekeeper wanting to know when we'd be out, i left my pillow behind. i know, it's just a pillow, but i've had it forever and i have a bad neck and this a weird special one given to me by my chiropractor. the housekeeper apparently told the desk i threw it out, so she was going to keep it, and so no one called to tell me i'd left it there. are times that tough that people are lying to acquire 15 year old nasty pillows? i was hours away when i remembered. i called, they said they'd save it for me, which i greatly appreciated. i would to pay to have it shipped to me but a week later they hadn't yet been able to. in the interim, because i didn't have the damn pillow, i pinched a nerve in my neck while sleeping and couldn't turn my head for three days- lost two days of work and I couldn't drive. i eventually ended up having to drive out to get it- almost 5 hours round trip... i finally got it back and before going to bed noticed they'd swapped out my pillow case and it smells like someone else's head. you took my pillow case? WHY?? and why in the world would you USE my pillow?? i'ts not like sleeping on this thing is going to magically bring health, wealth or prosperity. it's not even one of those fancy tempurpedic pillows. the whole series of events is just bizarre, and i don't understand how i went from leaving my pillow on the bed to having it end up with a different case and smelling like someone else. it's just freaking WEIRD. read more
