I'm finally writing a review for these guys, they deserve it. I've used Transit Cab a couple of times now. These cabs are clean and the drivers are chill and very professional. If you've ever flagged down a random taxi after a night on Gaslamp, you have probably experienced the avarage, sub-par taxi ride in San Diego. This cab company is not like that. One of the drivers, Daniel is a cool, pleasant guy to chat with and he is passionate about helping his company succeed. Ask him about the politics of taxi driver's rights, and you'll find yourself learning something new. Their website, www.securetaxi.com, has a fare calculator so you know what to expect. On your first ride you might wanna mention that you found them on Yelp, I got a 10% discount for doing so. The only thing they need to do is decide on a name and get on Facebook :]! Did not answer their phone with their text service so when asked if they were a taxi service he said yes so I asked.again who it was I called and he.asked who I called so I said.you know what never mind if.you can't answer a simple question of who I called I wouldn't want to ride in your cab. read more

I called a bunch of taxi services to price out a ride to the airport on Christmas. I thought it would be cheaper than paying to leave my car there for a few days. Transit Cab said from Mission Valley it would be $15-18 to the airport, and there would be a 10% Yelp discount. This sounded good so we booked it. Everything went fine, the driver showed up early (it was a VERY early pickup) and was courteous. I was already thinking about the good review I was going to write. I noticed on the driver's window it said the charge was 20 cents for every 15th of a mile ($3/mile) which is very high. Then we got the airport and our fare was FORTY DOLLARS. FORTY DOLLARS for a one way trip from Mission Valley to the airport. I called to complain afterwards and the guy didn't care. He apologized meekly and said something like, "well, they quoted you a price but didn't know where in Mission Valley you were" Bullshit. If I had ANY idea it was going to be that much, I would have parked there instead of getting a ride. And we did tell them where we lived before they gave us the quote. Get a specific quote from these guys before riding with them. It's not so much that it was crazy expensive, but that their quote was SO far off. On the way home we took one of the regular cabs at the airport and it was $2.70/mi which is a bit cheaper. Lesson learned: I'm parking my damn car at the airport from now on. read more

I don't have a car, and my recent move necessitated that I get my cat to the airport to be shipped as cargo during a weekday when pretty much everyone I know was working. I very rarely take cabs, and on the occasions I have I was with someone else, so I have not had to arrange the logistics. Based on the positive reviews, I called Transit Cab and asked if they would accept a cat in a carrier in one of their vehicles. I was told it should be okay, although I could tell they guy on the other end of the line had never actually thought about it before. So I went ahead and arranged to have them pick me up. My driver arrived on time and got me to the airport very promptly. He put up with my cat's panicked howling and even wished her a safe flight! The price seemed very reasonable as well. I would give five stars, but as I have little basis for comparison I will go with a solid four. read more

I had a really unfortunate experience with this cab company. I was on my way back from an out of town trip and went to the airport taxi line and ended up with these guys. Halfway through the trip I realized I was on the wrong (more expensive) rate, rather than the airport rate. I would have said something immediately, but it was already too late to just re-start the meter, and I wanted to secure my belongings before any potential confrontation because the driver was very impersonal. When I got to my destination, the driver did not help with our bags -- he just popped the trunk and sat in the drivers seat. Normally that would be fine, but I wanted to ask him about the rate after I got my stuff. I asked for a receipt and he just stuck out his hand because he wanted money. At this point I still didn't know if it was an accident or not so I just paid him, plus full tip, because I generally give people the benefit of the doubt. In return, he handed me a blank "Fare Receipt" from a different cab company. I didn't realize it was a different company at first until I tried to contact them and they corrected me. I got out and got my things out of the trunk and the driver immediately sped off before I could say anything else. Maybe the receipt deal was an accident, too (he ran out and used a different company's rather than no receipt?). Maybe it was just a bad driver and the rest of them are fantastic. Either way, the 1 star rating is for the _company_ because so far they've yet to respond to me or acknowledge my complaint. read more

Phone wasn't answered. Online reservation wasn't confirmed. Cab never showed. Was never called. What more is there to say? Reviews looked promising but I was completely let down. Plenty of other cabs in town. I suggest you try any other service than Transit Cab. read more

Just got a ride from Daniel to the airport! He was punctual, and got me here asap! He also gave me his # so I can call him if I'm out and about on the weekends and I need a ride home, super nice now that I don't have to worry about that anymore:) Also, he was able to have a conversation with, not a creeper like most cabbies:) read more

I called Transit Cab the day before I needed a ride to the airport and they were quick and efficient in scheduling me for a 5am pickup. My driver arrived at my home promptly at 4:55am and got me to my terminal without a hitch. He was courteous and friendly (the same cannot be said for the cab ride home from ANOTHER cab company.) What a pathetic piece of crap service. Unprofessional, undependable, and liars !!!! DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE IF YOU NEED TO BE SOMEWHERE ON TIME ! Oh sure, they say they will be there when you ask.... but then they don't show up or even call - leaving YOU to keep calling and calling and calling. And whomever keeps answering on the phone keeps saying "20 more minutes"... "20 more minutes" ... "20 MORE minutes". I made a reservation the evening before, called 30 minutes before my necessary pick up time, and even had to call at my pick up time.... only to be told..AGAIN... "20 more minutes". I had to call another cab service (Solana Beach taxi) who came right away to pick me up - I was still late for my appointment thanks to piece of turd Transit Cab. And to think I found these guys on YELP !!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS ! unless you want to get ripped off, abandoned, and lied to. I have never called a cab before to pick me up at my place, and I was worried about many things: will they be late? will they forget about even picking me up? will they get lost to where I need to be? will the driver be creepy? will it be expensive? all the reviews on Yelp for San Diego cab services are so scary! so I was glad there was this one that popped up. I called Transit cab, and Daniel picked up the phone. I called about a day before I needed a ride. He was available to pick me up at 4:30am to go to the airport from University Heights. I was worried that no one would be free at that time, but he was! when the day came, he called me to let me know that he was 10 mins away. He came at around 4:25. earlier than I expected which was great (I'm always worried about being late so earlier is always better). the car was clean, he was nice, and we got there quickly. Since I found him on Yelp, he gave me a 10% discount. I would definitely recommend him to people who need a cab in San Diego that will be quick and efficient with good prices. read more

I've had Daniel as a driver multiple times (to the airport and to/from PB late night) and he is wonderful! Always prompt, patient (dealing with 6 slightly intoxicated girls) and gives a 'heads up' curtesy call. Won't use anyone else! read more

I called transit cab and booked a day in advance to the airport. Daniel called 30 minutes prior to my scheduled pick up to confirm. He then called once he arrived at my address. I mentioned yelp and received a 10% discount and received an additional 10% discount card for next time. I felt safe, and was in awe of the wonderful service. Often times taxi's are late, but Transit Cab was on time and I sincerely appreciated a confirmation call. I will definitely call Daniel at Transit Cab every time I need a taxi! I had to take these guys to the emergency room, so time was of the essence. From the dispatcher to the driver, it seemed like they had a very good sense of customer service. From the time I hung up the phone, to the driver showing up took about 20 minutes. Which is pretty good, since I live in Linda Vista and they're based in Hillcrest and service downtown a lot. The only gripe I had was that the driver didn't seem to know my area very well/how to get to the 805 N. But other than that, I'd say the price was right and the service was good. My wife and I had to take an early flight out of town recently. We called and arranged pick-up with Transit Cab the night before since we had to be at the airport before 7am (on a Saturday). I took the cab from airport to Hilton and accidentally dropped my cell phone while getting out. The driver, Daniel, was kind enough to come back from several miles just to return my cell phone to the hotel. Called the evening before for a 5:45 am pick up in University Heights to the airport. Dispatcher was professional and repeated information back to me. Driver called me 10 minutes before pickup time to let me know he was on the way and then again promptly at 5:45. Uneventful trip, although I did request surface streets and instead he took the 163/I5 N freeway route. Driver was courteous. Asking if I read the bible and go to church, however, could have been left out of the conversation. Luckily it was a short ride. $2.80-3/mile, plus 10% discount. Fare $18. Overall: I wanted an on-time pickup and I got it. Appreciated the communication of the driver letting me know he was on his way. It was a safe quick trip. read more

Don't use Transit Cab if you have to be somewhere at a certain time. I reserved a pick up to go to the airport the day before. Cab didn't show up on the scheduled time. I even waited an extra 10 minutes. I then called yellow cab (the 444-4444) and they picked me up in 5 minutes. Thanks for the crappy day. The airport agents gave me crap for not showing up an hour early. Transit cab is a joke! read more

Ride of Terror To keep it short, my taxi driver nearly got us both into a life threatening accident two times! First time he nearly missed a freeway exit and tried to head into 60 mph traffic from a dead stop. Second time he began to turn into on comming traffic as he made the on ramp, to another freeway, into his off ramp. Then I had to tell him how to get to the airport. Make sure you don't read to many bad reviews, read Good reviews Only. I believe I manifested a bad ride by my curiosity to read many bad reviews. I can not say that I was impressed by this cab company. In fact I was so dissatisfied that I filed a police report. The cab picked my friend and I up late in the evening from downtown and drove us to our residence. As my purse had been stolen, we only had one credit card and $5. He refused to accept the $5 and wouldn't run the credit card until we persisted. According to him the card was invalid and he kept insisting that we pay. I told him to take the $5 and I would go inside and get the other $5 for the rest of the fair. Once I told him this I preceded to exit the vehicle which he had parked by my apartments front door. At this point he yelled stop and got out of the cab, came around the back of the vehicle and started towards me. My first reaction was one of self defense. Immediately I struck him. At that point he immediately struck me back and knocked me to my feet. I am only 5'3" and have some pretty ugly bruises and scrapes. As soon as i stood up he got back into his car and took off. My first action was to get his cab name and number. After this I immediately called the police and the cab company to let them both know what happened. Absolutely TERRIBLE. Was heading to Colorado on vacation with my girlfriend so we decided to order a taxi to make life simple, Especially since we were bringing all sorts of gear and bags. Made a reservation online and felt good to go. A couple hours later i decided to call and just confirm. Was assured that the driver would be there on time and not a minute late. Our pick up was scheduled for 5:40. 5:40 comes and no Cab. So I call and person tells me their on way. 6pm rolls around and still no cab. I call back and confirm AGAIN the address. A weak apology later and the guy says driver is right around corner and asks for my address for a 3rd time. Really? I ordered a cab online. It's your job! Your business says Cab Company. That's what you do, pick up people and drop them off. It's now 630 and my flight is at 8 still no cab. Thank god my neighbor came out and offered us a ride. I wouldn't recommend this company in a million years. So terrible. Customer service was awful. I get to airport at 6:55 an hour and 15 later. I finally get a call from them assuming they are at my house. Fat chance I would answer call and waste another breath on talking to these jack asses. read more

Called on a Sunday morning 11am, was quoted 10-15 min but Dan was there in 10. Short 3 mile ride from Kensington to north park cost $16 plus tip, which seems a bit pricey to me. Dan was very nice and friendly, and seemed genuinely curious as to how I found them, whether I had used them before, etc. It seemed like he really cared about the business and making it succeed in San Diego for the right reasons. I needed a ride to the airport on short notice and I must have called about 6 - 10 cab companies and had to leave a voicemail for all of them. No big deal, but Transit Cab was the only company that called me back quickly and they were the only company who was able to drive me to the airport on short notice. I was so afraid of missing my flight, but just as they promised, they called me 10 minutes prior to arriving at my door and drove me to the airport on time with friendly conversation on the way. When we got to the airport, I told the driver I found them on Yelp and I received a discount. I will definitely use this cab company again! read more

2.5 stars is what I would really like to give. I was in North Park with 4 friends and we couldn't get ahold of any cab company that my friends were Googling. I decided to Yelp it and found Transit Cab. They picked up the phone right away, gave us a very cheap rate and within 5 minutes of calling, we were picked up and driven downtown. The guy seemed nice enough, but kept insisting we give him a good review on Yelp because he could get some kind of bonus of something. I am not okay with people asking for good reviews, so yeah, they get deducted for that. Had it just been that, I might have given the 5 star review and written his name on here to help a guy out, but I also don't want to get him in any type of trouble since the reason I am giving them 3 stars has only very little to do with him (the review request). So after a couple of hours of drinking downtown, we needed to get to cabs cause we were going in two different directions. The one group didn't have much of an issue getting a cab cause they were going to Clairemont. My boyfriend and I, however, were going to Pt Loma and we couldn't get one flipping driver to drive us there. I never had to take a cab when I was living in San Diego, so being a tourist here puts a brand new light on the city. Cab drivers in SD are rude. So light bulb, I thought I would call Transit Cab and see if they could help us out. I call, tell them where we are and they say they will be there in 15 minutes. Meanwhile, I turned 2 cabs down that were actually willing to drive us cause I thought waiting for the cab I ordered was the right thing to do. Finally a Transit cab pulls up and I try to get in, but like with all the cabs, the doors are locked. He asks me where we are going, I tell him and he shakes his head and drives away. Another 30 minutes goes by, no phone call from Transit cab and no other Transit cabs drive by, so I can only assume that was the cab we had ordered. Finally, when most people had cleared out of downtown and things were slowing down for the cab drivers, we got a cab to drive us to Pt Loma. It only took 1.5 hours total to get a cab and we really should have just fricken walked, but yeah. If you are going to downtown, sure, use them. If you are trying to get out of downtown on a Saturday night, wait until 4am and you might have some luck. read more

It was 7pm on a Saturday night when me and my friend's decided we wanted to go out. We had to be downtown by 10 in order to get the deal we wanted @ the club. I tried calling around for a specific time pick up for 9...but all the other reputable places were booked. I called them, they got a driver out to us that actually arrived 5 mins early but waited for us to be ready. Awesome service, great price. read more

I called an hour ahead to schedule a pickup, told them it was to go to the airport. I'm waiting outside, after 10 minutes call them to check, and they said someone should be there soon. I finally catch a cab that happens to come by, and then they call 20 minutes after my scheduled pick up time saying they're outside my apt! No good to be late to catch a flight! read more

I had a business trip and decided to take a cab rather than drive and park so I called Transit Cab. When I called for a quote the guy on the line was rude and sounded like he had something better to do but that's not the issue at hand. The issue that bothered me the most was that he quoted me $34 but when I arrived to the airport my total was over $60!!!! For that amount it would've been much nicer to get the Lincoln Towncar service from one of the other guys. The only reason I'm giving them two starts is because they called 30 minutes prior to arriving just to make sure that we are still on, which I thought was great. They have always been late.10 minimum, 20 minutes generally. Never trust them when you want to make it anywhere on time. They will say that they can pick you up in 15 minutes to get you to commit to waiting, then show up after 30 minutes or more. The drivers themselves seem like nice people, but the people taking in requests will promise times that they just can't deliver on. read more

Excellent Service Overall. I was referred to Transit cab from a local friend and I reserved them for a ride from the airport two day before my flight. They were easy to talk to and took down my flight and contact information. I arrived on time and got a hold of the driver to comfirm my arrival. The driver was very firendly and met me at baggage claim. The driver was helpfull and assisted with my luggage. Overall it was a pleasant experience. read more

I used this cab company for the third time last week and had a much different experience than the first two times. The cab driver pulled up in a green van that was falling apart. I wasn't even sure we would make it to the airport and I am pretty sure the breaks were iffy because every time he stopped the car instead of holding down in the break he put the car in park. If you want a nice and calm ride ask for Daniel and ask for a town car which is the same price. Good value-just not as great of a car ride to the airport the third time using this company. read more
