AK is great.. If you are looking for a solid pick up, ride, etc... AK is the guy. What I appreciated about him was he was on time, and his communication to make our ride happen, was excellent. He works through text and he is quick to respond. We had to change our ride several times and he kept working to make it work. His airport pickup was smooth. His pick up our home was early and he was on time and ready. He's also a really likeable guy with couple of young kids. I love supporting him and will now always use him for our rides. Flying into San Diego and not needing a rental car but needing transportation to and from my hotel has always been a bit stressful for me, especially the return trip to the airport. I was very pleased to find AK Cab on Yelp while looking for a taxi to take me to an early morning medical appointment. AK is a family-owned company and I prefer to give my money to such companies. AK answered the phone himself right away and was able to book me for the ride I needed right away for the next day. It's so much easier to text and arrange a ride with the driver directly rather than a big calling center. I can easily arrange a ride a few days in advance with plenty of time for confirmation and perhaps book a return ride at the same time. When I first stepped into AK's green taxi cab, it was a couple of years ago, when I was leaving Snoop Dogg's concert at the House of Blues downtown, San Diego. AK is seriously the nicest and most reliable cab driver in all of San Diego, and trust me, I'm talking from experience. I love to drink, but never drink and drive, so I ride taxis almost as often as I drive my own car (ok maybe not, but you get my point). Anyway, that night, on the way home, I asked AK if he wouldn't mind going through the drive thru. Most cabbies say no to this request because they want to get as many customers as they can in one night, which I get, but you never know, so I tried. AK didn't hesitate one bit. He even asked me what kind of music I liked, put on the popular radio station, and turned up the volume. PARTY CAB! He was a cabbie in no hurry, which was quite the shocker to me. AK didn't mind taking me through the Inn-n-out drive thru and since we all know that food is the way to my heart, AK had me! Now ladies, if you need a cabbie that will get you home quickly and safely, which is of utmost importance, and you happen to be in the San Diego area, AK is the cabbie for you! I promise you will love him. Guys, you probably don't particularly care as much for safety, but AK is a cool cabbie! He will never let you down. Oh, and if you become a loyal customer, he will save your number so you can text him or call him at any time, and he will be there for you. Oh, and if he has your number, he'll call you if you leave anything in his cab. This point is so very important! My friend, for example, dropped her ID in the cab. Had she not used AK, she would not have been able to get that ID back. We've all lost something valuable in a cab before, it's no bueno. Another very valuable perk to being a loyal customer is that AK will pick you up when no other cab company can because say they're too busy or booked for the rest of the night. So he is perfect for holidays, such as New Years or St.Patrick's Day when flagging down a cab at 2 a.m. truly is impossible. Seriously, AK is the man when it comes to taxi cab drivers. Just remember that if you are going to use him, give him at least a 20/30 minute heads up! read more

So it was time for me to leave my friends' apartment and head to the airport to get back home. I checked yelp for taxis and AK Cab popped up. I don't know where he was at the moment but I asked for a 9:15am pickup and he told me that the earliest he could get me was 9:30. I thought that was fine. He actually arrived at 9:15! He pulled up in his yellow and black Prius and texted me that he had arrived. Traffic wasn't as bad. The cab was clean and there is plenty of space for a few bags of luggage (as a cab should have). So anyway, AK was very personable and made the cab ride enjoyable with conversation as we rolled down the highway past the palm trees and cool breezy San Diego weather. Dude was super helpful showed up right away. I'm not a big fan of Uber and lift so it was cool to see a cabdriver that just showed up to give me a ride, he was ready to go. He gave me his phone number told me if I need a ride to give me a call or shoot him a text. However later on in the day when I needed another ride I tried getting hold of them and I couldn't get a hold of him, that was a bummer. read more

We have used Orange Cab service for years and over the last several times we've had to use them, the service has gone down and has been nothing but problems for us.. We travel a good deal for pleasure and I travel a fair amount for work so we needed to find a good, safe and reliable taxi/car service. Pros: AK is very pleasant and always happy when he shows up for your ride AK always shows up earlier than expected and is waiting for you when its your time to go His cab is roomy His cab is clean and in good order He drives a Prius so he's reduced his global footprint in a big way AK has a great attitude and he takes his business/craft seriously His fares are competitive/reasonable He uses 'Square' to process a credit card payment ( I mean, really if you don't...I can't be bothered) He uses SMS/TXT to confirm appointments and is responsive when appropriate (When he's not driving} He doesn't run his mouth on the phone to a friend while driving you somewhere He's friendly but respectful too if you're not a chatty type. Cons: You really wish there was more than one of him! We have lots of needs for this type of service and just wish he had clones! With that, you need to plan ahead for when you need a ride. Not sure last minute will work...you could always try...we plan ahead so we can be assured of his services. After being stuck at the car dealership with my 1 year old son for 2.5 hours waiting for the shuttle, I decided to call a cab and found AK on yelp. I gave him a call and showed up 15 minutes later. I was so happy and relived when I saw the little yellow Prius arrive. The driver (also the owner) was very polite, courteous, clean cut , friendly, respectful and much more which is rare nowadays. Unfortunately, I do not use AK as much as I would like, because, well I do not live in San Diego anymore. However, I do have family and friends in the beautiful city, so when I do venture out for the night, you best believe we're gonna call up AK! Why you ask? For the simple reason that he is truly the best cab driver I, or any of my friends, have experienced. No joke. He has always, without hesitation, been more than happy to come get us and safely drive us to where we need to go. This is a must in a city that offers plenty of the night life experience. I know what you're probably thinking, "there are plenty of cabs who will take you to your destination, so why AK?", while you can find a number of cabs in SD, you will not find another one like AK. I remember that one time my friend left her ID in his cab and of course she was bummed. I mean, I would be too because I know what it means to leave something in a cab...chances are you will never see it again. Well, luckily for my friend, our other friend is a loyal customer of AK and I forget if we called him or if he called us, but either way my friend got her ID back, TRUE STORY! Even though I've never left anything in AK's cab, I've had a couple of great experiences of my own while going out downtown. I remember one night where we called AK and, of course, we were running a bit late (to meet AK outside, not to go out). I felt super bad and when we got outside we all apologized to AK profusely. However, from the moment we got in the cab it did not even phase him at all! He was super happy and energetic from the get go. WOW. I mean, most cabbies, understandably, would be a little annoyed because more time with you means less time with other customers. Well, not AK. I called AK cab because of his high 5 start yelp rating and I was not disappointed! When I called the night ahead of my flight, AK answered the phone and we set up an appointment for pickup the following morning. When I text to confirm, he remembered the time I mentioned on the phone and called me back to confirm which time was correct. The morning of my flight, AK was 15 minutes early and waiting for me outside my house. He was friendly and we chatted a little as we drove to the airport. It was totally comfortable and he paid attention to me instead of being on the phone with someone else. For some reason, so many cab drivers are always on the phone talking to someone else making the entire ride uncomfortable. AK was friendly and even avoided answering a few calls that came in on his phone while we were driving. After dropping me off at the airport, I realized I forgot something at my house! Doh! So I called him back immediately and he circled around to pick me up. It cost me another $95 round trip, but he only charged me $75 and we had a great conversation about his family and plans to buy a house. I made it back to the airport in time and off to my plane I went. I will definitely use AK Cab again in the future and I recommend him highly to anyone else looking for a ride around San Diego! read more

Probably the best taxi service I have ever used - and I have traveled extensively both domestically and internationally. One of the things that most appealed to me in the reviews were several comments that the driver showed up earlier than the reservation time. Sure enough, he arrived early and then texted me to let me know he had arrived. He told us to take our time, no need to rush out the door.
