We spoke to the compliance manager for the first time on Friday night before we left on Sunday morning when she called to say good luck and she'd be gone for the weekend. So unprofessional on every level. They got two stars because our dog made it.

I can't recommend Pet Express more highly. I reached out to a few companies when my friend, Cindy,…read morewas turned away from her flight to Hong Kong because she hadn't followed the proper procedures to travel with her two dogs (she had been living in LA but was moving home to HK). Cindy had given up her home, given away or shipped her possessions, had no family in Los Angeles, and is legally blind - all combining to make it a dire situation. While the other companies were slow to respond (or replied by automated emails), Alicia from Pet Express called me as soon as she saw my emails, realizing that this was a critically timed situation and she really just jumped in. Her guidance was remarkable. Cindy was in a hotel, and with her visual disability, dealing with the forms and process was a challenge, but Alicia and her team patiently walked us through every step. And we made it all the more challenging since I started the process but then was traveling, so THREE other friends of Cindy's all jumped in to help out - adding to the communication chain. But again, Alicia and her team dealt with every challenge and kept us all in the loop. They worked effectively with Cindy's vet to get all of the forms, measurements, breed info and so much more to make the process go smoothly. And while other companies said it could take 2-3 months (or longer), and many charged more than DOUBLE what Pet Express did, they expedited the process (at no extra change) and Cindy and her dogs were on a flight to Hong Kong in less than a month! And this could have been an incredibly stressful situation for Cindy and her dogs - but Pet Express assured it was stress-free! And the care of the dogs was always of paramount importance to them. They worked with us to be sure they were well-cared for, comfortable, and that their medical needs were also attended to (one is on meds). They made the drop-off process so easy. Cindy felt do comfortable leaving her "babies" in their care. And the delivery to her apartment in Hong Kong was timely and professional and the dogs arrived safely. Pet Express even took the time to share photos once the dogs were in their spacious and comfortable crates - and the dogs were drinking and eating right away, so we could tell both dogs were comfortable! Professional, caring, knowledgeable, efficient, reliable - the only company to use. We are so grateful!

Run, do not walk, away from this company…read more They are simply horrible, incompetent, and not trustworthy at all. I sent my pup to Portugal and they charged me a lot of money to put my pup in a van and drop him off at Lufthansa. I paid for the crate. I brought the food and medicine for my pup. I handled all the USDA certificates. They put my pup in a cart at 8 AM for a 3 PM flight (airline rules they claimed) and my dog suffered a trauma that can not be ignored. They literally put him in a cart, taped his food and medicine to the top of the crate and transported him in a van to cargo. They did NOTHING else. They had no idea if anyone was going to give my pup the medicine and food. There was no customs work and no absolutely no warning that the customer would have to do their own customs work. Think about it! If DHL sent packages to Portugal and the recipient had to go to a DHL center, handle the customs and retrieve the package themselves, then DHL would NOT have a real business. That's Jet Pets. Their service is shite. They do not nothing, they don;t alert you to the impending chaso. They do not fucking care. My wife arrived at the Lisbon airport at 11 PM thinking she was picking up our pup. Instead, she found herself at the back of a very long line at customs with absolutely no directions or instructions on how to deal with this. Jet Pets just abandoned us. Portugal is heavily bureaucratic and they kept sending her from cargo area to the customs area at the airport and then back. These places are miles apart. She did this at least twice. My wife was at the airport for five hours. She waited until after 3 AM to retrieve our dog. She got home at 5 AM, completely and utterly stressed. She paid a customs fee (negligible) but also paid a car service 5 hours extra to sit and wait with her. And for FWIW, I spent five hours on the computer and my cell phone vainly trying to help. All because Jet Pets didn't think to have a customs broker handle this. Nor do they tell us which would have been a deal-breaker with me. What they do say is call Lufthansa Cargo which suggests everything is all covered when it fact Jet Pets wants Lufthansa to deliver the bad news about the customs. What they do is bad for the client and worse for the poor animals. Jet Pets incompetence extended my dog's crate time by five or six hours minimum. We calculate our pup was in the crate for 36 hours. My wife and I honestly expected the worst because he is 10 years old and not a small boy. Their service should NOT be sending an animal out and then expecting the client to fend for themselves. They send a customer out knowing what is in store for them with absolutely no warning. They don't fucking care. What happened to my wife and my poor pup was inexcusable. Seriously, save yourselves anxiety and grief. Run--do not walk--away from Jet Pets. They suck!

I would highly recommend Sandy and her team! Let me start off by saying that the first time i contacted Jet Pets on October 29th, 2020 and Duke only just arrived yesterday (March 2nd, 2021). In total, the exporting process took 5 months and we moved from Chicago to Auckland, New Zealand. We were supported throughout the entire exporting and importing process by Sandy and Micaelin, who were prompt, understanding, and answered all of my questions. It can be daunting to move your most beloved pet abroad and it can get overwhelming. Sandy made the process so easy. Sandy discovered that Air New Zealand had placed an embargo on all pet shipments, so she made a call to contacts in Hawai, Fiji, Singapore and came back the next day with alternatives. Despite my nervousness, I trusted her expertise when she advised that Singapore was the best option for us. Then Sandy made a vet appointment schedule for Duke so I would know exactly when to take him to the vet as New Zealand has very strict rules that Sandy knew off by heart. It turned out that the whole schedule had to be changed a couple of weeks before Duke left because there was a snowstorm in Chicago and it was too cold for him to fly, so Sandy helped us with the new schedule. She figured out what one of the warmest days would be in Chicago so he could escape the snowstorm. When Duke got his blood drawn at my vet, he got unnecessary blood test results so again Sandy helped to correct this. Sandy requested an extension from the Ministry of Primary Industries in New Zealand as a result of Duke having a lapse in his vaccines for eight days, and thankfully it was granted! When Duke finally escaped the snow-storm in Chicago he was picked up at taken to Jet Pets in LA where I received an email with pictures of my Duke. After being there for three days, Duke finally left for Singapore on Saturday, when I contacted Sandy after hours because I was nervous about his arrival time she was responsive and sent me all the information I needed to track his flight. Should I have the chance to relocate again (which I certainly hope I never have to), I would choose Jet Pets without a doubt.

We had the pleasure of Dr. Susan Chao come out to our home on Friday, March 20. We had a 9 am appointment (the first one of the day) and she arrived a little before. She had called me about 15 minutes prior to let me know that she would be arriving within 15 minutes. When she arrived, my husband and I greeted her and had her walk to our backyard, as this was the place I had wanted for our little girl because she loved being in the backyard to sunbathe. Dr. Chao was wonderful at guiding us through the process, explaining every step of the way and allowing us to take our time to say goodbye to Muffin. She also allowed us to give Muffin treats during the process (Muffin's last meal was a chicken nugget from Burger King and pureed chicken that Dr. Chao brought, which Muffin really did enjoy eating). Dr. Chao also did cut a piece of Muffin's fur for us to keep and placed it in a small plastic box, which she put in a small mesh bag and gave it to us as a keepsake. Muffin passed away on March 20, 9:31 am. Dr. Chao gave us some time to spend with Muffin right after and just walked towards the side of the house so that we could have privacy. Afterwards, she placed Muffin in a basket and then we walked with her towards the front of the home so that she could take Muffin with her to eventually be cremated. About two weeks later, I contacted Hearts and Halos to ask if Muffin's ashes were ready for us to pick up (please note that the company can also mail your pet's ashes to you, but we just preferred to pick it up in person). I had a hard time getting ahold of them via telephone, so I emailed the company and was able to arrange for a pickup time. I was told via email that someone was supposed to contact us that day that I had emailed them about Muffin's ashes though... This past Thursday, my husband and I went to Gardena to pick up Muffin's ashes (please note that Hearts and Halos office is now in transition to moving to Hungtinton Beach). When we arrived, an employee came out and gave us a small gift bag, that held her ashes, seeds to plant in her memory and also a small brochure regarding aftercare and additional resources for the grieving process. I do like the box that her ashes came in and also I love the small wooden heart with her name engraved on it and a small halo right above her name. The total cost for these services is $840 (you can pay via check, cash or credit card). You can also have additional items, such as an urn (which cost $60) or your pet's paw print, that will cost extra. If you do not wish to have your pet's ashes back, the cost would go down to $675, in which your pet will be part of a communal process to preserve their ashes and then will be scattered in the company's memory garden. Just as a price comparison, when we had to put down our other 2 dogs at the vet (both of our other dogs were of an emergent case and so we would not have been able to plan for their euthanasian earlier and so we would not have been able to utilize these home euthanasia services even if we had known about them at the time), at minimum, it would have cost $455 if we had made an appointment and had this service done during the day. However, both times we had to rush our dogs to the vet were during after hours and without an appointment, so the cost was around $560, which also did include their ashes. So, these home pet euthanasia services can cost an additional $100- $300 more but we felt it was worth the cost. We did not have to rush and deal with the stress and anxiety of the car ride from our home to the vet and also sit in the waiting room while they prep our dog and then say goodbye to them in the vet's office (where both of our dogs really hated going to the vet). The ability to allow Muffin to be in the comfort of her own home and to have foods that she enjoyed during the process was worth it for us. I highly recommend home pet euthanasia at home if you can afford it. I like to think that this was the much better choice for Muffin and hope that she was happy with her chicken treats right before she left us, keeping her in good spirits than to be stressed and anxious if we had chosen to bring her to the veterinarian instead. Thank you Hearts and Halos for helping us during this process.

Saying goodbye to my beloved kitty was something I had been dreading, especially because she was very skittish and easily stressed, but Dr. Denise made the entire experience as peaceful and gentle as it could possibly be. Her suggestions (like adjusting the environment and approach to minimize stress) made such a difference and helped my cat feel more at ease during the transition. Her assistant was equally kind and thoughtful, offering quiet support and handling everything with such sensitivity and respect. Together, they created a space that felt calm, dignified, and full of care. This is an incredibly difficult decision for any pet parent, but I am so grateful I had Dr. Denise to guide us through it. Thank you for helping my sweet girl pass with peace and love.
