They are friendly, affordable, and professional. I was actually surprised at how quickly they were able to do my dog Zero's vaccines, wellness check, and routine bloodwork. It was easy to book an appointment , staff was responsive to my questions, and the facility was clean. Highly recommend!

Dr. Dolin nd his team at Essex have been treating our pets for over four years. When it was time for us to get pet visas so that we could take them to France, we relied on them to help us. We were in great hands! We discussed what we wanted to do with Dr. Dolin several months in advance. He explained what the process was: vaccination requirements, the importance of properly timing them, the paperwork involved, how to best to prepare them for the trip and what to do during the trip to keep them comfortable. The office scheduled the vaccination and follow up appointments for us for all 4 pets. Once our pets had all of their vaccinations, Dr. Dolin filled out all of the paperwork and told us how we should post the applications to Albany. Everything went swimmingly. If you need passports, it is really important to work with a vet who is familiar with the process. Essex are pros at this!

While there was only one situation where we saw Dr Lynch where we were trying to assess a vomiting issue ($500 all day stay, with tests and no resolution) and later Dr Clark prescribed simple regular Pepcid dosing that seemed to nearly completely solve the issue, our experience has been overall great. I have seen other reviews that speak about how practical they are - not looking to push for expensive treatments when there's a simpler answer (Dr Clark seems very adept at the simple solution, once with a knee issue that we solved with anti-inflamatory meds and glucosamine, and later with the vomiting situation) and I totally agree with those reviews. Ultimately it was Dr Werner who helped us put our beloved girl down and they handled it so well. We got an appointment same day, late in the day when there were no other visits. Dr Werner did a final exam to assure us this was the right time (and also noted to us how hard it was in that she was behaving like a puppy while she was a mess otherwise). We were devastated and they were so compassionate even with after care (complimentary paw print, ashes returned promptly, follow-up sympathy card with grief recourses etc.). We believe we will be back someday with another rescue. Thank you Werner AH *heart emoji* !!

PET PARENT BEWARE!! I have been taking my cats (2) for wellness exams and vaccines to Dr K for…read moreabout 14 years. Never had an issue until I brought my one cat to be treated for an ear infection. Dr. K prescribed an ear cleaning solution and antibiotic ointment to put in the ear. After weeks of following the Drs instructions, my cat's ear started bleeding. I called the vet to tell them this and asked if I could bring him in. They refused to take him and told me to email pictures, after which they told me to continue with the antibiotic ointment. The bleeding did appear to clear up a little, but then I started to see my cats third eyelid. I questioned the vet, which he said this was not related to the inner ear infection and was a symptom of his feline herpes virus flare, and I should continue administering antibiotic ointment in the ear. My cat was treated for feline herpes virus before I got him. He would have occasional flares when stressed, but I never saw his third eyelid come down during one of his flares, so this seemed odd to me. But I trusted Dr. K for 14 years, so I followed his instructions. A few weeks later, my cat started experiencing neurological symptoms - head tilt, walking off balance/stumbling, tremors. Brought him back to the vet, turns out his ear infection had turned into a severe inner ear infection, ruptured his ear drum, and potentially spread to his brain. Dr. K prescribed oral antibiotics, and told us to "check in with him in a few days". I decided to take my cat to a different vet for a second opinion. The new vet said it was the worst ear infection she had ever seen, and was baffled that Dr K 1) did not initially take ear cultures to determine what bacteria was present in the ear and 2) did not prescribe oral antibiotics for that particular bacteria. She also stated that antibiotic ointment in the ear is a rather "antiquated" form of treatment, and usually ends up making things worse. Long story short, the new vet did everything she could to fight this ear infection for a little over a month, but unfortunately nothing was working. Due to the severe infection, his herpes virus began the severely flare and his symptoms started taking over and shutting down his body. My poor little guy was experiencing so much pain and suffering that we ended up putting him down in the beginning of April. This was something that could've been totally avoidable if Dr K had recommended a different form of treatment. I trusted Dr K & Pequannock Animal Hospital for 14 years, but after this experience, I will be finding a new vet to take my other cat to. I hope this reaches as many pet parents as possible and hopefully will prevent anyone else from experiencing the pain and suffering both my fur baby and myself experienced

The actual care our pets have received at Eagle Rock is generally very good. Dr. Lewis in…read moreparticular is exceptionally caring, listens well, appreciates our concerns, answers our questions thoroughly and is typically very compassionate. Additionally, the staff is generally pleasant, conscientious and professional. But - and the but is substantial - Eagle Rock's policies seem to almost always necessitate expensive additional, many times unnecessary or repeatedly declined tests, shots and treatments. There has never been a "quick stop by for a vaccine" before boarding or "can you take a quick look at this" with Eagle Rock in the 5 years we've gone there. There is always an upsell for something additional. After a recent upsell on an annual exam only 7 months after the last annual exam, I calmly explained that the only reason we needed to come in was for the shots. I was told the recommendations were Eagle Rock's policy; I was offered a call back from Dr. Miller, who is listed as Eagle Rock's owner on their website. Dr. Miller called me back, and when I suggested we plainly acknowledge that for our 3 (rescued) pet household, Eagle Rock's veterinary practice management and visitation monetization strategy was starting to wear thin on us, Dr. Miller condescendingly denied even understanding what I meant by "upselling" or "practice management" (both core ideas presented at virtually every veterinarian trade show in existence - Google it). He then followed up with a parochial lecture on "standard of care" which implied irresponsibility on my part ("maybe you don't think your dogs require so many visits, but they age 4-5 years so we want to see them again") and - with the suggestion that I bring our dogs to Petco for vaccinations since "money is clearly an issue" - a cheap one as well. I ended the call with "Well clearly I have been 100% mistaken, nevermind". I can't remember exactly what couple of words Dr Miller said, but the unmistakable tone was "Yes, clearly *you* were mistaken." The customer doesn't always need to be right, but any business, if they don't agree with the customer, should at least acknowledge their opinions and experiences. But if a business chooses to belittle a customer, they won't be a customer for much longer. Have it your way, Dr. Miller. One less family of pets for you.
