I've been going to Tranquility for about 4 years now for my 4-year old cat, and the staff has always been pretty good. Dr. Antonelli (unsure if she is still there or not) was incredibly informative and has amazing bedside manner! My cat was diagnosed with a heart murmur at around 6 months old and the maintenance used to be fairly simple with a yearly ultrasound and daily meds alongside his yearly routine wellness check and bloodwork. That was more than fine, until about a year ago when I noticed the drastic price change. What once was a $900 scan visit turned into an $1300 visit for the exact same protocol and results. And not only that, within the recent year I feel the staff tried pushing the amount of recommended appointments to re-check his heart rate, which they could never get a solid read since I had a 45 minute drive and my cat hates the car and is usually stressed causing his pressure to go up. The staff would then explain to me how "it's totally normal", and would result in them recommending me coming back yet another time to try and get read. Even those quick visits and follow ups have gone up substantially in price. Personally I felt it was becoming quite excessive. Another occurrence that happened with a recent bloodwork appointment. I waited almost a week and a half for one of the new doctors who examined my cat to call me in regards of my cat's results. Concerned, I was playing phone tag most of the morning to connect with the vet and get the results. She finally got a hold of me and suggested that while everything is good and there was no change (good nor bad) to the murmur , it's "totally fine to up the scans to every 6 months instead of once a year". Right then and there made me realize that it was time to find another vet, as I was under the impression they were trying to bleed every last drop out of my wallet. Again, the vet care for the most part in my opinion was fine there minus a few hiccups. But with the outstanding price increases, I unfortunately had to find a new vet elsewhere. read more

Sadly, found out just a week ago that 3 of the vets at Tranquility have left. One was Michelle Hewitt (there 23 years) and the other Dr. Krotje-Wall (there over 30 years). So, I must decide if I follow Hewitt to her new location or stay here. I have not been a fan of the "concierge" service here for the past 10 months because honestly, IF masks really worked, and IF most other retail outlets are open to the public, why can't I come in and actually SPEAK with my vet and be WITH my pet? Not everything can be explained verbally on a phone call, nor can I see what is going on when you take my pet inside. There is no documented transfer of China's COVID virus to animals and with such a low morbidity rate (unless you have other ailments) this mask and distancing stuff is insane when you're healthy. Might as well panic and shutdown for the annual flu too. I think once people realize some of these vets have left, there may be an exodus, who knows. read more

Stay away from this joint! If you love your pet and care about their long term outlook please find another vet. I took my pets there for years and true they were always more expensive but I thought they were decent, then the place changed hands and all they care about is maximizing every visit for its dollar potential. That would include surgeries, drugs and treatments your pet doesn't need. How messed up is that? Just one story I'll share here, they told me my cat had asthma and started him on steroids, which lead to diabetes. I took him to another vet and we were able to get him off insulin and he told me this cat IS NOT asthmatic! Tranquility had me going there every single month for a steroid shot, around $100 a month, which lead to diabetes which costs thousands and he wasn't even asthmatic!! They're disgusting!! read more

I have been to many vets over the years but non have gone above and beyond for my animals like Tranquility has! I cannot recommend them enough! They contact you on their days off and on weekends if need be! They love your animals as much as you do! Five stars isn't enough! read more

When Dr. Hewitt was here, I loved this place. But now, I'm giving this clinic 2 stars on the sole basis that I brought my dog here for a booster shot. I was charged an extra $35 because the vet used his stethoscope for literally 5 seconds to hear his heartbeat!! 5 seconds = $35??!! WTH! Final bill was $67. Robbery! This is the 3rd time they've done this. I have been going here for over 14 years, have had the Best vet, Dr.Hewitt, care for my past 2 dogs. Now, I'll look elsewhere and will not be recommending anyone to this place, like I have in the past. i've never liked going to the vet because of how expensive visits are, but then again, how much would healthcare for people cost without health insurance? i'm glad that tranquility is upfront about their costs and tell me about it before providing the service. that way, i can make sure that my doggo is well cared for while being conscious about how much it is. read more

I would 1000% stay away from this place if you care about your pet!! They are dishonest. The vet wanted to remove all of my dogs teeth, which I was hesitant about and said not too. He removed half of them, a few months later I went to a few other vets & showed them the x-rays & had an exam All the other vets agreed that it was completely unnecessary to remove my dogs teeth. & the vet at tranquility didn't even remove the infected teeth. This place is dishonest & only care's about making money! After having such an invasive surgery they didn't even have the decency to do a follow up call, which further proves my point they don't care about animals. The other vets with more years of experience couldn't even believe how much they charged me at tranquility. This place sucks stay away. read more

Paws Applause is amazing! My Shitzus absolutely love the women here!! Danielle is an absolute sweetheart!! She is very accommodating and is fantastic with my dogs.. My Shitzus always wag their tails like crazy, when we pull in the parking lot and I let them out of the car. They immediately smell and are aware of where they are going.. They pant and practically pull me over when I am taking them in!! Paws Applause does a perfect job on their grooming!! I've tried a couple times to take them somewhere else, when Paws Applause is closed for vacations. Their reactions were so sad.. I can't say enough positive things about these girls and this establishment!! I recommend them 120 percent!!! They are fantastic!!!! read more

Dr. Hewitt is a family friend and came highly recommended by my nephew. I started taking my first Pekingese there when I lived in Morris County (over ten years ago). Casper came down with IMHA which is an autoimmune disease with a fatality rate of 50%. Dr. Hewitt and Dr. Christensen were so compassionate through the whole week of me traveling back and forth from Essex County (I moved from Morris County). When it was time for Casper to cross over the Rainbow Bridge Dr. Hewitt was with me the whole time. The compassion with everyone was so amazing. Tranquility Veterinary Clinic made a donation in Casper's name for continuing research for this horrible autoimmune disease. I now bring my two Pekingese (brothers from the same litter) all the way from Nutley, NJ to see Dr. Michelle Hewitt. Every time Dr. Hewitt yells their names "Rocky" "Benny" they start getting all excited tale wagging and pulling me into the examination room (never saw this at any other veterinary clinic). They say children and animals know great people and hands down all the vets and staff are awesome! We drive about an hour and past many other veterinary clinics because we are so happy with the care they provide to our very high maintenance dog. Dr. Christensen & Dr. Hewett are never tired of our first time dog owner questions and really show us care and concern every time we call or visit the clinic. They have helped us to eliminate our dog's brutal skin allergies and have gotten his gastritis issues under control as well. My pup Fin recently was diagnosed with a condition that required surgery to alleviate. It was an extremely stressful time but Tranquility made the whole thing much easier on my family. Dr. Hewitt is so knowledgeable, caring and understanding. While the Doctors at Tranquility were unable to perform Fins surgery, they found someone quickly. John tirelessly worked with us to find a surgeon and a time that would work. I am so amazed by everyone at Tranquility and will definitely be bringing all my pets there from now on! If I mention "going to the vet" to my chocolate lab Mousse, she gets very excited and heads to the door.
