It's a bit tricky to get to it if you're on the other side of the street right now due to construction. There's no direct way in so you'll have to go all the way around and enter through the back street. FYI. There's a decent size floor space for about 12-14 tables. Not long/wide enough to have a long wedding party table though. The catering has to set up in the other side of the room with cash bar. The other corner leads to bathrooms. A bit crammed where the catering set up is and only single file fit through the area...more like a corridor. It's in the heart of Old Town so I'd say the best part is the location, location, location! I was expecting an upscale wedding reception(because I was told to dress up) but it's more suitable for a semi-formal at best. I would love to use the space for old country-ish party some day...hmmm... maybe for our 10year wedding anniversary??

I drive up Lomas past the Garden Center all the time but I only recently read the sign and decided to look up what it was. Behind all the trees, there is a little Albuquerque gem. I looked up their website and read all about a plant sale they had going on. I got two cute little plants and was excited to see the space. The actual gardens were closed when I went but I want to go back to check them out. I would also definitely go back for another plant sale, the prices were great and they had some fun stuff to choose from. One note, the parking is terrible when they are super busy. I doubt that they are super busy too often, probably only for events and such but when it is, getting in and out is a huge pain.

My husband and I had our wedding here last year. It was reasonably priced and had a ballroom as…read morewell as a smaller room where you could get ready. There are some rules like no bubbles or confetti, but they are all outlined in contract. We had employees there to supervise and help out. Because it was early April and the gardens don't open till mid April we couldn't have the ceremony in the gardens. It turned out to be less expensive. But when it came time for taking pictures, the staff let us and some of our guests take photos in the garden. The gardens are beautiful and well maintained. They made for a beautiful backdrop for our photos. Although it was not open on the weekends, there is a garden shop that sells fun garden themed items. There is a small courtyard in the front which also makes for good pictures. What's interesting is that the building itself doesn't look that special as I would drive past it every day and wouldn't have known about it if wasn't for the sign. It's a great hidden gem in the middle of Albuquerque and was a very nice venue to have a wedding.

The acoustics were fantastic! No microphones or speakers are needed. There is a nice pipe organ on the balcony. I would have loved to hear it play in there. Another nice thing about the chapel is the proximity to the duck pond.

I was recently at a wedding at UNM's lovely Alumni Chapel. It brought back memories of my own…read morewedding 15 years ago. I love this wonderful and intimate space. I'm not sure how many people fit in the chapel, my guess is about 125, but that's just a guess. There is a beautiful Retablo at the front of the church, and it has an old world feel, with its rounded adobe walls and wonderful New Mexico flavor. You do have to be affiliated with UNM, either as a student, a faculty, or an alumni. But, boy oh boy, it's one of the best perks of being an alumni, at least it was for me when I was getting married. Since I'm never planning on getting married again, I can now only remember, smile, and enjoy other people making beautiful memories at the start of their lives together.

Four Hills is a nice neighborhood on the Southeast side of Albuquerque. In the middle of the…read moreneighborhood is the country club, and the neighborhood is built in a giant ring around the golf course. They've got big, nice homes, and lots of places to explore. The neighborhood is smooshed between an arroyo (ditch) and the Kirtland Air Force Base open space. It's rumored that the mountain behind the neighborhood contains (or once contained) the nuclear weapons that could wipe mankind from the face of the planet. The mountain is just to the west of the neighborhood, and there's a long concertina wire fence that keeps onlookers out. Beyond that, there's an electrified fence that lights up when a jack rabbit occasionally runs into it. They also have a high speed rail out there, that they use to launch missiles on a train track to see how they perform. To the west of the neighborhood is a big open space that's currently, or once owned by the AFB which you can explore. There's some old underground bunkers out there that look like they were training for the military. Really, I'm not sure if you're supposed to be out there or not... If you're into skateboarding, the huge concrete arroyos make for good skating, just watch out for flash floods. Mind the Ditch Witch! To the east of the neighborhood is the Manzano Open Space, where you can climb all over the four hills that are the namesake of the neighborhood. It's a fun open space with some snakes, but some interesting geography. The neighborhood is nice, with little crime. This can be attributed to the fact that there's only one entrance/exit to the neighborhood, so it's tough for the bad guys to make a getaway. My main complaint about this 'hood is that there's not as many sidewalks as there should be through here. It forces you to walk in the street. The bummer part for this neighborhood is that there are no stores or anything close by. You have to cross the arroyo and drive out of the area to get anywhere. It's on the opposite side of Albuquerque from everything. It's a good 15-20 minute drive to see anything in town.

I was surprised when my roommates told me they bought a house in this area (mostly because it was close to central) its been an adventure living on the complete opposite side of EVERYTHING but it's not really difficult getting to where you need be. The freeway is close and driving down central is always an adventure in itself. I don't hear lots of noises especially at night: no booming radios, no screeching tires, no yugins running around causing havoc. (Not yet at least fingers crossed) close to sprouts, smiths, the icon theater and other various stores. I didn't think i would like this area because it's so far from EVERYTHING but its growing on me and i love tramway and how close we are to the sandias (lots of good photo opportunities) So if your in this area or are considering it..... Do it!

I went to Revel for the first time this weekend and it was an excellent venue. It was large, had two restrooms inside the concert area, along with two bars both upstairs and downstairs. There are two sets of stairs to get up to the 2nd floor, along with an elevator. I LOVED that you can go in and out from the concert area to their food hall/ outer bar area. They had sooo many food options and they were extremely reasonably priced! I will say my favorite thing they had was their awesome photo booth- $6.50 for two prints in either black and white or color which were extremely high quality. The bartenders also allowed me a water cup which I refilled multiple times so I didn't even need to pay for water! Definitely check out their calendar for upcoming shows!

It was so nice to be able to sit at the bar and have a drink before stepping in the auditorium area to see KALEO which was fantastic. Also, once inside the auditorium there was another bar/bathroom/merch table, so convenient! I would love to return for another soiree or uptown funk dueling piano show or catch a game on the big screen.

During our visit to Albuquerque we didn't get to see any wild hot air balloons but saw so many at…read morethe museum! The museum is beautiful and colorful. I love the subtle nod to hot air balloons in the architecture of the building and the high ceiling that allow the beautiful arrangement of balloons to be displayed. It was not busy during our visit which was great to basically have the museum to ourselves. I do wish there was a guide on how to walk through the museum as we headed for the middle section first, before realizing that there was somewhat of a flow through history. The museum is full of information and great stories of the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, balloons in general, and how they have shaped history. Who knew there was so much to learn about hot air balloons! The children's area was fantastic and interactive, that all ages can enjoy! There were a couple of exhibits down during our visit, but overall would definitely recommend during your visit to Albuquerque!
