Train Moment has quickly become my new favorite fitness studio! Working out is definitely an important part of my lifestyle, and after having a baby not too long ago, I finally have the flexibility in my schedule to get back into a routine/attend classes. Catch me here a lot in the future! The 'strength forward' fitness experience is exactly the kind of movement I enjoy! These are full body, group workouts that run about 45-50 minutes total. In that time, you go through three zones: two that are strength-focused (the bench & the rig), and one that is cardio/high-intensity focused (the climber). The climber is a new-to-me machine but I love it, as it's low-impact training that skyrockets your heart rate. I really enjoy weight training so the bench zone, which includes dumbbells and med balls, is really great. As is the rouge zone where you'll find a pull-up rack, kettle bells, and resistant bands. The coach leading the class takes a few minutes in the beginning to walk through and explain each set, so it's really straightforward! Each session hones in on different parts of the body, the number of reps vary from class-to-class, etc. It's great that every time you show up you're getting a different workout. As for the facility itself, it's a vibe! Entering the lobby, it's bright, white, clean and simple. Same with the lockroom/bathrooms; exceptionally clean and modern. But then when you enter the training room, it's completely the opposite: dim lighting, all-black-everything, including blackout blinds that lower when class begins. Badass energy, ya know? Also, don't feel intimidated because there is such a strong sense of community and inclusivity here. All of the coaches I've experienced are high-energy, motivating, and super approachable. Thanks for the positive vibes and a great sweat!

The evaluation is molded by the person working with you. At Vita I was fortunate to be assigned to Joe. He is cerebral and knowledgeable with an eclectic array of skills. His multi-faceted approach is ideal for someone such as myself, as templates never fit. I am not the norm. Joe understands movement, strength, body manipulation, and the gestalt of health. My aches, inflexibility, and aging are handled with analysis, searching for what in his bag of tricks will work best. Joe is like a Zen Master, and I leave Vita feeling exponentially better. The facility itself is clean, modern and comfortable, with enough space to feel private. I can't say enough good things about her and the things she's doing at Soul. She's a top notch trainer and is just an all around great person. Her workouts are always challenging and tuned to your needs. In addition to personal training, I've done a few of the other classes. On Tuesday's Kellen M does a Primal Movement class. If you've never done Primal (MovNat, etc.) then you don't know what you're missing. This is truly "functional" fitness at it's best. On Fridays Marina H does a strech class that is phenomenal. If I didn't already have another contract gym membership, I'd just stick with Soul. Their overall schedule is well-rounded with strengh, yoga, kettlebells and other movements. They also puts on a bunch of community activities like Maker's Markets and fun events like roller skating (if only I could). Do your body a favor and give them a try!

I really have appreciated Eileen's guidance and how much emphasis there is on movement, function, and form. The workouts always have modifications, and I appreciate that everyone moves at their own pace (and that moving quickly is rarely the emphasis). Since I've been coming, I feel (and look!) stronger, more comfortable using gym equipment, and increased awareness of how my body moves. I like that there is a wide variety of offerings throughout the day, a diversity of ages and backgrounds in clientele, and a little bit of something for everyone. There are events, like an annual Brewer's tailgate, in addition to hosting different practitioners of fitness/nutrition/wellness. I think that Eileen's has got something going on that more gyms could look to and that Soul Collective is worth giving a try if you're looking for a gym that values movement and holistic health!

I had a YMCA membership but have…read morealways been curious about the WAC and how if might differ/be better, etc. My initial impression was, I'm in a gym on a college campus. It was busy when I went (5:30pm on a Monday) which made getting a leg or arm circuit done on the weight machines a bit tricky. Now, if you wanted to use an elliptical or other cardio equipment those machines were mostly open. Some things I absolutely loved about this WAC location: The indoor track inside (9 laps = one mile). In the winter, it's like you're walking in a snow globe. There are huge floor to ceiling windows that offer great city views. The staff! Very warm, helpful, patient and kind. The steam room and sauna in the locker rooms. Keys to lockers are provided as well as towels and there's shaving cream in the locker room showers. Free parking so long as you download the parking app used here and scan the QR code before leaving the gym (parking is free for up to 3 hours). Olympic size/caliber weight room on the second floor (this gym is only two floors and does not have a gym). After my one day workout sesh, will I be back? If I lived downtown on the east side of the city then yes I would hop on the WAC train and member up. But being a 15 minute drive from downtown, and not always in the mood to workout after work I don't think I will be calling this gym "mine" any time soon. Regardless, it was a lot of fun to try this location out and to see the nice amenities the WAC has to offer downtown.

While one of the smaller WACs, it has lovely views of the city from its location on the 6th floor of the 411 building. Theres an indoor track that runs along the outside of the gym, and a second floor (the 5th) has more weight training areas and another group exercise studio. They do a lot of classes if you're into that sort of thing, and while the equipment isn't super fancy it gets the job done and there isn't usually too long of a weight fot anything. The great thing about the WAC is I consider it a "full service" type of club with free lockers, towels, coffee, very nice showers and other services (for a fee ) like PT and massage. The WAC is more expensive than a planet fitness but you definitely get what you pay for here No pool sadly at this site but there is a steam room (and maybe a sauna?) In the locker room. Nice friendly environment to work out in - 5 stars!
