Karla is a super host! Our English Cocker Spaniel Maizey was there for 10 days and we found her just as we left her. She was exercised and well fed! We'll happily return to use Karla and TrailsEnd Kennel again. Karla, Maizey says "Thank you"! read more

Karla is the best caring animal lover and responsible kennel operator! I would highly recommend this place. It's so assuring to have a place you can trust to leave you furry friend and this is it. We will use again if we are in the area. Thank you Karla read more

Trailsend Kennel - Pet Boarding Near Me - Mackinaw City, Michigan

She was very friendly and organized. There is a good sized grass area (fenced in) that our dog went in when he first got there. If I were back in the area, I would use her to board my dog again. read more

Great set up and worked great for us to be able to go to Mackinac Island without taking the dogs. I just wish they were open longer hours for day stays. We dropped our dogs off as soon as they opened and were able to make the 930 ferry, but we had to take the 5pm ferry back to be back by the 6pm closing. We needed just a bit more time on the island to do everything we wanted to do. read more

Karla took great care of our 2 dogs while we visited the island. Very fair pricing and clean facilities. They require shots and flea treatment to be up to date which is great. Couldn't have gone better. read more

My dog Oscar and I ventured off on a 14 state, 7000 mile road trip this summer. He was my co-pilot and got to enjoy every minute of family time, swimming, backpacking... except that I couldn't bring him to a music festival in Northern Michigan. I was very anxious about boarding him... in the year since we rescued him from the SPCA he has only stayed with us and friends... but I was very impressed with Trails End. I won't repeat Lily's observations (9/22) but can vouch for all she says. I was especially impressed with how clean the kennels were and mostly with how wonderful the owner was. Oscar clearly loved her, and when I went to pick him up 3 days later, I thought he might want to stay longer :-) read more

Great place! I was nervous to board our dog for the first time but we were going to the island for the night and had no other choice. As soon as I walked in I was at ease. Great place! Nice big kennels, air conditioned, outside yard. He wasn't even phased and didn't act like he wanted to leave. Highly recommend! read more

I recently used Trailsend Kennel while vacationing in the area. I felt that my dog received great care and I didn't have to worry about her while we did some sightseeing. Facility was very clean and well organized. I highly recommend her and will bring my dog back next year. Thank you so much!! read more

One of my dogs is epileptic and I boarded both of them at Trailsend overnight, the staff was great, and my dogs loved it. The kennel is very clean with no doggy smell. I would definitely board here again! read more

Place is very clean and my dog had a wonderful time staying here for the day while we went to the island. They also offer boarding. Individual kennels have large indoor & outdoor areas. Dogs all are taken out at least four times a day. If your dog likes to play with other dogs like mine does, they will get to play with other friendly dogs in fenced in area. If they prefer to be alone, they will get to enjoy the play area by themself. The staff was friendly & I felt very comfortable leaving my dog there. Also is in a convenient and easy to find area. read more

We liked what we saw.... Small facility, well designed and it was immaculate inside and out, nice fenced in play yard. Your dog will have its own "room" that your pooch can be inside or out. Our rarely boarded cockapoo did very well here. Very convenient to the ferries/ and just off of I75. Owner caring and accommodating. Reasonable rates. read more

I can't say enough about the service of Trailsend! We "booked a room" for our two doggies just before a last-minute trip to Mackinac Island and were surprised at how friendly and non-irritated the manager (owner?) was. She answered all of my questions in great detail, again when I made a follow-up call, and was super-friendly when we arrived. The kennel is VERY clean - from the play area, to the desk, to the kennel "rooms" themselves. I also appreciate that she allowed both of our dogs to stay in one kennel (some kennels will not allow this) for the price of one dog! ($35.00 for 9:00-5:00 one day stay.) read more

It is a very unprofessional place. They didn' t call me back to tell me that they didn't have a room for my dog. I got there, and I found out that there is no place for my dog. I missed my ferry, and I had to take my dog to a different kennel in St Ignace. It was a much nicer place and the hours were better. read more

I had a great experience in early July 2015 when I left my cat at Trailsend to take a 3 night visit to Mackinac Island. Karla accommodated me at the last minute, and even tho she cares primarily for dogs, she set my kitty up in a beautiful 4 foot tall cat cage with fleece lined shelves for climbing and dozing. The cage was placed outside the main kennel area so she was not pressured by the proximity of dogs. (My cat has lived with dogs, so would not have cared, but it was a nice courtesy!) When it looked like we might get hung up in traffic and be late on arrival, Karla waited for us -- her home is right on the premises. This is a very nice country setting, with large, clean, free access indoor/outdoor dog runs; and a fenced yard for free play. Overall a great spot for traveling pets! read more

I boarded my chow chow at this kennel and they were wonderful! They were clean and professional, and best of all they knew how to handle a breed that can prove challenging in a boarding situation. This is the only kennel I will use in the Straights area. read more
