Okay, so it's been a year since my last visit (lies came here last summer as well) and I have to say I am not disappointed! The wife decided on a 2 scoop sundae yesterday and convinced me today that it was a great meal replacement for dinner. That's all I needed to hear and am now in agreement. In the average metropolitan chain the scoop of ice cream is about the size of a peach. At Trails End, the kid scoop is a large apple. Not sure the difference between that and a regular scoop (small grapefruit?) but it is a lot of creamy goodness. If you don't have kids, this is a fairly standard ice cream place with a few interesting flavors. The ice cream is quite good, though not exceptional. I had a mocha cookie ice cream that was good, but it won't go down as one of my all-time favorites. If you DO have kids (which we don't), then this place might get a full five stars, especially from your kids, as they have a MASSIVE playground with some really cool play sets. This ice cream shop is such a treat and conveniently located a quick drive from the Attitash Resort. The servings are plentiful, with a child's cone clocking in at what most other shops would call a small. My friend had the chocolate peanut butter ice cream and she loved how the peanut butter was both ribbons through the ice cream and also large chunks. Open late-ish, a definite plus. I came with a family of seven after an afternoon exploring waterfalls nearby. My kids, still not tired out, spent their first 20 minutes enjoying the wonderful playground outside. It's all wood and delightfully original - they had a blast. Eventually, the kids realized there was ice cream inside. We went in and I was in heaven. The place is decorated with maps! Trail maps are under the table glass, regional maps on the walls - I loved it. Oh - the ice cream? Fantastic! Huge scoops too. The kids were more than satisfied with the kid's size. I have to say I could not disagree more with Derek A. Trails End Ice Cream Shoppe is an outstanding dairy bar that will not disappoint. The ice cream they serve is outstanding, the portions are plentiful, the service was great, and the prices are more than reasonable. The place closes at 9:00 p.m. each day and when we arrived at 8:40 p.m. one Saturday night the parking lot was completely full and people were still rolling in after our departure. So, how can the masses be wrong? ...and yes, they do have a great playground for the kids, but the patrons really appeared to be "kids of all ages". read more

They used to carry lots of local "bobby sues" ice cream and we loved it. Each time I go, I see less and less of bobby sue's and more of hershey's. If i wanted hersey's i could go to the grocery store. There are tons of ice cream shops in the area. They are giving me less reason to go there. read more
