Redwood Ankeny - Open Floor Plans with Flexible Living Space

    Redwood Ankeny

This Redwood at this location has varied size homes and all have attached garages. Unfortunately…read morethe room for 2 normal sized vehicles in their garages are tight. Decent room sizes and walk in closets for the rent paid. The configuration of the floor plan on 1 particular end unit is odd to me where placement of living room furniture has to butt up or close to the kitchen counter. Otherwise all floor plans are similar as in like a storage elongated container - garage door to mud room door with front side door leading to rooms and guest bathroom and out to the sliding door to the small square footage patio. Some units have kitchen windows facing the street but most share a common wall with their neighbors. Same is true of the bedrooms. You get a window at each bedroom. I call this type of housing multiple ranch style duplexes. You pay for everything. There is no basement to go to during tornado season. Lots of pet owners and a mix of races and ages rent here. There are poop bag stations everywhere but at times, we get inconsiderate dog owners who do not pick up after their dogs. The floors are manufactured tiled and the older units are scuffed up. I would like to see these floorings replaced but especially the worn carpets in the bedrooms. They are very flat from years of abuse. My dog love the different scent on these carpets. They dont provide washers and dryers which you can rent from them for $50 per month each. Im sure that has risen. I do like their high ceiling but to some renters, that is excess electric bill to pay. There is no option when it comes to your internet provider here. They have a few locations in Iowa, N Carolina and Illinois when you rent from Redwood. Plenty of nearby gas stations to choose from. The library, grocery stores, eateries, doctors and veterinarians and a movie theatre are close by. So is the police station and fire-station. Unfortunately like most corporations, they too have a high turnover of office and maintenance staff. They do try to have small get to know gatherings sporadically throughout the year. They do organize a neighborhood garage sale during a summer month but i stopped participating 2years ago. This past summer was their 2nd year. There isnt much sales traffic when this happens. Sometimes you get inconsiderate neighbors who allow the slamming of kitchen cupboard, side and front doors. I had a couple whose husband rumble his big motorcycle from the garage before taking off. He also worked on vintage cars in the garage. People do forget that they share common walls and everything they do has a dominoe effect when in a rental complex. The maintenance staff is prompt and professional. The past office staff is professional, cordial and can be helpful, depending on the situation given. Be mindful of their office hours. They do have open door self tours on some units. I will miss my independence and this location when i leave here next year.

My fiancée and I moved in here in 2021 and since then we have had three landlords for this…read moreproperty. our first landlord who originally rented the place to us was amazing, he lived right across the hall in the building from us and whenever we needed something he made sure it was taken care of but his wife ended up getting sick and so he had to move. When the second landlord started we would place in maintenance requests and they would be ignored. For the last three years we've had roaches, black mold in our bathroom from leaks and our appliances haven't worked correctly. The first week of February 2025 we were appointed another landlord and she came in to do her inspection and told us we would have to get rid of our cats even though we had lived here with them for four years and it didn't state anywhere in our lease we couldn't have them. They were also supposed to be documented in their office as ESA because they are. I have brought up the maintenance issues to her but she still hasn't come in to fix these problems but she is expecting me to remove my animals. So it's basically not what she can do for her tenants but what we can do for her. We also still pay the same as everyone else who have updated apartments and there has been nothing done to ours in four years. That being said I do not recommend these units as the company has had faulty landlords who don't keep documentation for their tenants and when a new landlord starts they come in and basically punish their tenants for the old landlord not doing their job correctly. SAVE YOUR MONEY DONT RENT HERE!!

DO Not move into Belmont Park Apartments in SE Ankeny…read more I have lived here just a titch over 5-1/2 years. New investors and manager took over approximately 2 years ago. The quality of life here has gone downhill ever since. I received water flooding from the rain coming in through the front door and lobby and into my apartment which is located on the first floor. It saturated almost my entire living room and I had standing water in the kitchen with the water coming into the living room from that direction also. It is now eight days and I am living with mold in the floor covering because the manager has so far resisted all attempts and requests for professional remediation for the damage caused by the water. It smells and I am keeping all my doors/windows open during the daytime. I even had to have friends provide me with fans and he goes off line and does not respond to texts and calls often times. I even told him I had a letter from my doctor stating this was detrimental to my health and professionals needed to be called in. And this is not the first instance of a problem that is not resolved appropriately under the new system. I have had other issues prior to this. There is only a portal online for requests and the only number I can find for a contact is the same as the manager's number. I did not get the pictures immediately because I was on my way to the hospital when I discovered the problem at approximately 7 a.m. on May 21st. I do have pics but they are after a rug doctor had been used to try and suck up water from the carpet.

I've lived in the apartments between 1700 - 1730 (or whatever the last apartment is) on Pine Rd for…read more4 years. Management has changed since I have been there - but 3 things have remained: 1. When it snows less than 2 inches, they will be there to shovel the 'nothing' off of your steps at 6AM. I'm sorry - not actually shoveling, more like SCRAPING the nothing off the stairs. (Don't need an alarm clock on those days, because they definitely make it known they are out there) When it snows more than 2 inches, and you have to swim through the drifts between the garages, they are nowhere to be found - I end up shoveling and laying salt myself. Either ALWAYS shovel and lay salt or NEVER. I don't care either way. Am I paying more for this service that is provided only part of the time? "bundled" into my rent? 2. Pest inspection/spray - a guy sprays twice a year in the kitchen and bathroom. They only give you 2 days notice for that. The note states "no need to prepare your apartment in any way" YEAH OK - any normal person is going to want to clean their apartment or at least pick up things that are personal items that they don't want some random person to see. That causes a headache. 1 week notice would be a lot nicer. 3. NEIGHBOR WITH LARGE MEDICAL VAN. This is probably the most annoying thing of all over the last 4 years - one of the people who live near me between 1700 - 1730 or whatever, drives a Huge Mercy Medical van.. if you have seen these apartments and garages, you will know they are 'staggered' and his garage is one that happens to 'stagger out' so it is closer to the parking area along the sidewalk.. He parks his van there making it nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get your vehicle through that parking lot, or let's just hope you're not parked right next to or behind him because good luck getting out. At one point there were 2 of those vans in 2 different driveways. talk about jam-packed. Things that large should be required to park along the curb or in the street. Thanks.

An idea - snow blow/plow the snow in between the apartment buildings on this road., then it's easier for your tenants to take their trash out to the curb, without nearly breaking a neck or tipping the trash can over.
