It's not as nice, clean, or big as I'm used to, and it's definitely more crowded than I'm used to, but I'm from San Ramon so my opinion is irrelevant in that sense. I had no issues here, good service, nice employees. I appreciate that the line for checkout is all combined instead of each register having their own line. It makes it feel faster (even if only psychologically) and also more consistent for everyone. I guess it's more fair in a sense, since that's first come first serve. The line moves fast, way faster than what I'm used to. Being stuck behind 10 people here is like the equivalent of being stuck behind 2 people with full carts on a single register. read more

I had to ask TJ's employees for help looking for items too. I was in the area so I stopped by really quick to grabbed an item. At checkout, I asked the cashier if they have the new lavender bag since I didn't see it and my best friend was looking for one. The cashier said yes and ran to grab one for me. Thankfully I didn't have to wait in long lines trying to get one! I would come back if I'm in the area, the cashiers are pretty awesome here. The workers are also helpful and friendly. Great customer services every time I come here. They have a great salad selection and frozen foods. Solid Trader Joe's and one of the rare ones that not only has a decent amount of parking but a decent amount of parking in the BAY AREA. Good stuff. There's regular parking and they have a covered parking structure which was perfect since it was raining when we went. Of course like many Trader Joe's, it's super packed and busy especially so since it was near the holidays, but I was able to weave in and out of the crowds and all of the cashiers were super friendly and highly efficient at the same time. We got some discounted drinks and snacks (located towards the back near the restrooms) and I got some sour jelly beans as well as cat treats. Pretty good! read more

I give them 4 because they seem to constantly be moving round things for no reason, and the last time I was there a manager gave me a hard time re a return. Also my car has been bipped while shopping there (not their fault I know but hey it's worth watching out for or going to another location). The staff is helpful and friendly. The cashiers are great! Does run out of stuff randomly. Like last week no carrots, just those peeled baby ones. The week before they were out of yogurt. Their excuse is it's a Sunday or it's a Monday but buy more knowing you'll run out on Sundays or Mondays. But love TJ's in general so they still get 4 stars. read more

Trader Joe's on Lakeshore is where I shop for 95% of my groceries. Do they have every single thing I need? Not always. Is the majority of their inventory better quality and lower priced than other stores nearby? Absolutely. I go to Safeway for Diet Coke, aluminum foil, and a few other odd ball things, but beyond that, it's Trader Joe's. And don't get me started about the staff. You don't have to look beyond 6 feet to find somebody to help you. No matter how crowded the store is, or how long the line is, they seem to get you out in record time. I've heard people complain that the checkers are too chatty, but I find them delightful. If you're not a people person, you might want to stick with Safeway where you barely get a greeting or a thank you. read more

I used to live in Orange County and at every single Trader Joe's, the employees were so freaking kind and I would have little chitchats with them and they knew me and here, I feel like all the employees fucking hate the customers. This location has become increasingly hostile. At best it's micro aggression from the checkout staff, at worst, it's full on aggression. We have documented the last 3 experiences: 1. I inquired to the manager about the possibility of moving the matzah display to a different location so that it is more easily spotted (it was placed away from all food, in a corner hiding by the manager's desk at the checkout area). A store clerk overheard my ask and began to rolls her eyes and chuckle. As soon as the manager said he wouldn't be moving the display, he and store clerk started whispering and laughing as I walked away. 2. My husband was checking out and a checkout clerk asked my husband where he's from. Then started asking about what we were buying and if the ingredients will make food associated to our ethnic background. 3. Today a checkout clerk stared us down so intently that our own checkout clerk indicated it also made him uncomfortable. I can only imagine it was because we purchased an item called Israeli Feta for our salads because right when our clerk scanned the item, was right about the time that we got the long stare down. This is a store we frequent and it's become increasingly hostile. If the manager doesn't see a problem with it, I don't see how it will get better. read more

I really like this Trader Joe's location. My favorite thing from here is there tomato sauce! It's delicious. I've only been able to find it at Trader Joe's. I prefer this location when I'm in a pinch and need to run in and grab just a few things. It's local and convenient! More often than not I run in here when I'm doing to Arizmendi across the street! I can grab my few groceries, grab a pizza and head home. The only downside to this location which is not fault of Trader Joe's is the parking lot. Omg it is trash but at the end of the day most parking in Oakland stinks so at least they have a parking lot option with free parking if and when you can find a space! read more

TJ's is my pocket grocery store that I go to for my usual and some special items. The Lakeshore location is a very popular spot, especially on the weekends when the farmers market brings a ton of foot traffic. They have a parking lot, which is shared with other stores and I'm sure illegally by the other shoppers of the market. (I've done it too.) Each TJ's is generally similar but has its own personality and love how the location name is painted on the wall. Some of my go-tos are the garlic dip, hummus, spinach dip, applewood smoked bacon, soyrizo, Semifreddis cinnamon twist bread, red lentils, red enchilada sauce, dark chocolate peanut butter cups, tomato soup, their homemade pizza dough but I guarantee you that I'll leave with a several more items than I intended. The workers are always so nice and helpful, especially when they provide wine/food recommendations. I may have to go on a TJ's spree soon! read more

Went late one night because I was next door at Walgreens. Overall great experience as with any Trader Joe I've been to. Long woo poo flew line moved fast and security was present in parking lot. I don't think I've ever had a bad or unpleasant experience at any Trader Joe ever. All the employees here that I interacted with were top notch as in any location. Inside all the patrons were polite and well mannered. The line outside was long - the lady in front of me seemed a bit on edge and put the second strap of her backpack around her shoulder as I lined up behind her - I thought that was a little sad - obviously she learned fear from past bad experiences or maybe just watching the news or reading too many notifications off her nextdoor app. I think the result of being around emotionally badly hurt people is that it spreads like a disease to the next person. Who writes reviews for Trader Joes??? I do! Trader Joe's is a staple to my diet! They have almost EVERYTHING! This particular location is really really really busy whenever I go... near Lake Merritt and a busy street full of stores and restaurants and a farmer's market. Parking is horrific and inside the store it can be difficult to maneuver a cart cuz of the volume of shoppers... I'm also always a bit confused with where to find what because this store in particular is deeper and more narrow so the way they have cashiers and etc is just a bit more funneling and trafficking... I called and asked did they have any yellow watermelons? She said yes we carry them. I said great I will be right over to get them. I drive 20 min. Wasting a tank of gas. I go to customer service. I asks where would the yellow watermelon be located. The kind gentleman Asian man immediately goes to look for them. He goes over and beyond! That's the one star him! He than goes back to customer service and asks the white lady and the black man. The Blackman says well you have to call before you come! I beg your pardon I did call. Who said I didn't call. I'm very annoyed now bc I don't think it's his place. So the white lady speaks she said you did call. You spoke with me. I told you we do carry them. We do but I didn't go see if we had them. I said I told you I was on my way! Than her Very Rude self says very LOUDLY NEXT TIME YOU NEED. I began to walk Off bc she shouldn't be speaking to me like that! Been to this one off and on during the years. I've started to come more often due to convenient location near gym I go to. It's in a busy area but getting to it is super easy due to it's proximity by the freeway. Parking is great. There's always a spot in the two level parking garage immediately adjacent to the store. Staff is friendly and helpful as is usually encountered at Trader Joe's. I have a very simple shopping list so they've always had want I wanted in stock no matter what time I've shown up. read more

I like trader Joe's. I especially like going to this one. They have lots of parking. And as of March 15th, 2021, they still are being careful about covid. They clean the carts between uses. THANK YOU!!! They have one way into the store - - and another way out, so you can easily social distance while entering and leaving the store. The staff is friendly. Like all Trader Joe's, they allow you to try something and get your money back if you don't like it. In fact, you can even ask to try something. And they will usually open it there and let you try it. In a hurry, and need a bite, you can get something from their Deli for a reasonable price, and they have flatware and napkins as you leave the store (if you don't have any in your glove box. They have a bathroom if you gotta go. I just tried to stay out of there during the peak times. I prefer going early. read more

Big parking lot/garage and they share a space with Walgreens. They're very organized and efficient for COVID times, and employees wear gloves and face masks. I docked one star because too many times I've found expiration dates WAY too close to the date of purchase, like within that week or less. No bueno when I need my groceries to last. I love the unique finds they offer from around the world. They've got some great signature ready-made items (egg and curry salad, wraps, poke bowls, etc) and tons of delicious vegan dips! Welcome to Oakland, California! My very first grocery store in the area after moving to Oakland. I came around 8pm and I lucked out with no line. This TJ is smaller than what I'm used to, but makes up for the quick checkout (built like Fry's) where cashiers were right across each other. I think they must have about 20 checkouts? I also lucked out and found a parking right up front (score!!). There are additional parking I think on the second floor? Halla at me if this is wrong as it was dark by the time I came out shopping. I was pleasantly surprised that it didn't feel cramp inside and the aisles were adequate for people to cross by one another. Selections were good, but I did go around the world 3x and finally found the teas. It's on the end of the aisle across the coffee (back wall). Haha... All in all, my first experience at this TJ location was great, staff were super friendly, all located in a very cool and hip neighborhood in the Lakeshore area. Lastly - I'm still new in Oakland but I'll definitely be posting more reviews as I visit different grocery stores. Oh I Almost forgot - Walgreens is right next door, and I also saw Peet's Coffee. Ok so we're just going to sell out of Ube pancake/waffle mix and not restock? Noted. I've observed that this Trader Joe's doesn't carry a lot of items other locations do. Or more like once they sell out they don't restock. There's no Ube pancake mix, Japanese fried rice or wasabi mayo at this location...there used to be, but not anymore. Now seeing as how I love the store, that's definitely not a problem for me. Everything is always on point, and the service is pretty friendly. I watched a segment on CNBC about why people love shopping at Trader Joe's that was very insightful. Since there's a limited number of patrons that can be inside at once, the outside line is not that long. Last Friday I was able to walk in the store without even waiting in line. Now at the risk of not going too deep with this review, TJ's is my favorite grocery stores. The price point is great, the items are delicious - made with the freshest ingredients and I love the overall vibe of the brand. I've recently started following @blackgirlsintraderjoes on IG and grabbed so much food and lifestyle inspo from that page. Pet peeve: please ask your employees to park further away from the entrance. Maybe upstairs only. It's inconsiderate when you see employees lounging in their cars, on break, in prime spots. I just think those should be left for customers. I love this place and come daily. A decent staff, although service has declined since its opening. The food is good. I struggle and just role the dice with fruits, meats and often, wine. Also, while I don't think the parking lot is TJ's property, they really need to maintain it better. The Stop lines and letters have faded. There needs to be "do not enter" signs so people know not to go against traffic to access the spaces behind Pete's and Verizon. read more

If you live near the LakeShore area, you'll have plenty of grocery stores to choose from: Whole Foods, Safeway, Lucky's, etc. ...but Trader Joe's is the best!! This is a smaller location than what I'm used to, so sometimes I can't find everything I want here (their snack area is smaller than I'm used to). However, they still carry the staples and you'll get the great TJ's brand items. They get 1 minus point for having rotten fruit/vegs out sometimes. Also, they have a decent parking garage but it does get extremely busy during peak hours (note: weekends, lunch time, holidays, and after work) Lines move quickly and the staff I've interacted with have been good/great! Here is why this store location is getting exactly one star. First of all, I shop at TJs various locations....Berkeley, Emeryville, College Ave... The problem is this. Immediately outside the store, on the property between the curb by the flowers and the parking lot, are a bunch of itinerant hustlers who are aggressive with shoppers going in and out of the store. One of our neighbors even bought them a bag of food. Here's what they did with it...they tore it open and threw it on the ground..pigeons came over and ate some of it. It was a mess as well. Calls have been made on numerous occasions to TJs Lakeshore to insist that they get these hustlers to leave. TJs has not enforced their rights effectively as a business to get them to leave. Offering lame excuses is useless. Instead they ignore it and make it everyone else's problem. TJs is a great place to shop. However, allowing us to be hustled and harassed like this is totally unacceptable. read more

This Trader Joes is different from all of the other ones I've been to in Las Vegas and Los Angeles because of the check out system. There was only one line that feeds to different cashiers whose stations are arranged in two rows. This seemed to be a more efficient method for better customer service. The merchandise seemed to be the same and the service was similar to others. Hawaii residents will always appreciate gifts from Trader Joes because this grocery store will never come to the 50th State due to the high cost of shipping. This makes it easier for people like me to bring presents home for my sisters, nieces, mom, coworkers, etc. Everyone has to eat, right? read more

Nothing like realizing the cashier forgot to put one of your items in your bags because they were too busy asking about their break.
