I went straight to the vintage dresses and found a roaring 20's dress as well as a new with tag gunne sax dress with the puffy shoulders and light pink lace. Gunne sax is really sought after in the vintage clothing community for its limited releases and style. I was thinking of wearing the roaring 20s dress to an artdeco themed bar like Monroe or decidable in sf. I have no idea where I'll be showcasing this beautiful Victorian Gunne sax dress but I can't wait to post them! Thank you the amazing owner for her cheery attitude as she was helping other customers and then helping me. It made the visit so welcoming and I felt like I could browse around and admire everything. Btw! There was this huge "tv display" the size of the back wall with curtains. I was curious what was back there but I loved it. Wish I had more time to really navigate the whole store. I guess I have to come back soon!

I have small hands, but as most people know true vintage runs VERY small compared to current sizes. These gloves completed my costume and I went on to win "Best Overall Costume at the Clarke Very Victorian Tarot & Tea Party". This shop is hard to find, you can't see it from the street, so look for The Pub restaurant located in the Creamery building/ Arcata Play house. The store is behind the restaurant down a little alley. Amazingly low prices for the quality you get. Going there is like a treasure hunt!

The selection is truly impressive, from literal Victorian clothing, to 1970's disco jumpsuits. My daughter found a gorgeous dress with a black tulle skirt and red satin rhinestone embellished sash for only ten bucks! But the real star of the show was the girl who worked there & I wish I'd gotten her name. She had short dark hair & was the sweetest, most wonderful young woman. She couldn't have known how much her kindness mattered, but it did. We have just moved here & my daughter is having a tough time, worrying about whether or not she'll fit in or be happy here. This salesperson was precisely the kind of person my daughter admires and we talked briefly about anime and video games and...maybe it didn't seem like much to her, but it meant a lot to us. Adina asked questions about the event I was attending, various questions about the fabric I did and didn't like, and while I was in the dressing room brought me all sorts of beautiful and fun items I would never have pulled for myself but looked FANTASTIC on. I've never had such a positive experience with a vintage/thrift store. I felt like I had my own personal stylist and I felt like Adina was actually invested in the outcome and not just a sale.
