When we checked our dog in we were greeted by the owner and reassured that our dog would be in good hands. If you stop to chat with the owners, they are friendly and can tell you the history of most items in their stores. The antiques they sell are on the higher end of the price spectrum, but are also grade A items. I've enjoyed browsing there several times over the years. Another reviewer has made claims of racism because they were monitored while they browsed. I was in my mid-teens when I first visited their store and I, who appear to be white, was monitored. Though a bit distracting, I didn't take it personally. If you are looking for first class antiques stop by their place and have a look around. If they get to know you and you're respectable, they won't hover as much. As for Midland Texas, only people that weren't born and raised in the community mistakenly see racism everywhere. They see what they want to see.

Bring cash or coins (cards cannot be excepted by their machines). It's $5 for 7 minutes of anything you want to use- shampoo, conditioner, water, vacuum, etc. I brought our own shampoo because some of the reviews said the shampoo is sub-par, but I personally cannot speak to its quality. The machine sits waist high (so no bending over!!) and even has a leash attachment to keep your doggo from running away which was super helpful cause our dog HATES baths. All around great experience and especially helpful for apartment dwellers who don't want to wash their dog in their bathtub!

So I called the number listed on Google to check their service schedule (because google shows a daily schedule, but their website says 24/7, and you don't want to drive there from one town to another and find it closed). The person who answers the phone says, "I only speak normal English." I shouldn't have to continue with the conversation, but then I continue to try to know what their schedule is, so I can plan the best time to go. So I ask again... he continues interrupting me. Finally, he says, why do you call me? If you can't come, wash your dog at home; you don't need an appointment; the place is open 24/7. I don't want to support this type of business where they can't have a regular and respectful conversation with a client, no matter what language or if the person has an accent. Note to the owner: if you don't like to receive calls. Make sure google list the proper schedule for your business and the complete information on whether the clients need appointments or not. You can also delete your number from the listing so people won't call and you won't be bothered. And yes, I prefer to wash my dog at home, thank you!

Now, my dog has never been aggressive towards anyone. She is a rescue dog, and what her old home was like, we could tell she wasn't in a good environment. So we have been training her to not jump on people. That's the only bad thing she does. The last time I picked her up I was told she jumped on her but not attacked. I did tell the girl they had my permission to push her down and tell her no because she does like to jump on people. She gets excited. I am just so upset this is just now being told to me. Obviously it isn't clearly a 3 because if it was I wouldn't get phone calls from their customers thinking my phone number was the groomers phone number. The Barnes & Nobles Booksellers in Midland, TX was less than flattering…read more I'm not even knocking the fact that it is a single story B&N. On January 4, 2026, my daughters and I shopped here. Their calendar selection was extremely limited. The ones they had were a bit damaged--that is, bent up or partially opened or missing the cellophane wrapping. There were a few sections that needed repairing and or sprucing up. In saying that, the huge children's section was pretty great. The prices were a bit exorbitant compared to Amazon. I resisted buying copies of books I loved that I recently read through my local library. The restrooms were not open. Not sure why. Lastly, there was only one person checking folks out. I even overheard the staff at the resource center discussing this. Glad y'all have one, but there is immense room for improvement.

Okay so here's the thing:…read more Barns N Noble as a company and as a whole are AMAZING, i love Barnes N Noble so this review DOES NOT go for the company, but for the store In Midland, TX Now, the thing about this store is, it is peaceful, it has a great selection for it being a smaller Barnes N Noble but it's the people that work there. I always feel extremely uncomfortable going into this store because the workers are always talking under their selves then looking at people and it makes me wonder "oh man what if they are talking about me?" Sometimes when people will ask about a book they ALWAYS instantly say they don't have it and they will look it up and then continue to say they can order it but it will take a very long time, basically trying to get the person not to order the book. It seems very highschoolish or cliquey if you will. There is only one lady there who has a welcoming smile and expression but it seems like everyone else just wants you gone. It seems like if you come in there just to relax, maybe grab a cup of coffee and read a book or maybe go on your phone or even just walk around they don't consider you someone to even ask "Do you need any help?" I don't know, it's a very off vibe to me. One time I was standing and aisle away from my wife, they offered her help 3 times and literally just looked at me and walked off..... kind of.... Weird? I for the love of God wish I could remember one ladies name that works there cause she has always been so sweet and helpful everytime she sees me and always ask what I'm looking for, even if I just want to get away from the rest of the world. She's the best. All and all this is your run of the mil Barnes N Noble but if you want me to be honest some of the workers look like they should have a change in careers. One time there was a kid who like didn't even pick up one of the workers walkie talkies I think it was and it was laying in the ground and she yelled out super obnoxiously "CAN I HELP YOU SIR??" And the kid was so embarrassed and shook. Like, he's a teenager, it's not like he's stealing from the store. It's just a very off putting vibe in there occasionally but it's still a nice place to shop and relax and grab a cup of coffee unfortunately just not as often anymore since it seems like it's not welcoming occasionally.
