So I used to come here all the time for my feed and chicks, I even liked stopping by just to look…read more But after recently I stopped going for a few reasons. 1) Other than knowing where items are in the store, there is a giant lack of knowledge when it comes to how to care for animals and what you should buy for them to keep them healthy. I don't work here and I know way more about chicks than anyone working there. 2) I get situations where the employees are careless and pushy to get things over with, but this isn't always the case. I do know some individuals that I will go there just to say hi to even though I'm not buying anything. 3) the prices are more that tractor supply due to them being privately owned and their variety for chicks is small. 4) My last straw was when I came in to buy a chick, and what I bought was not at all what they advertised it to be. I bought a blue Cochin pullet to add to my flock of ladies. Months go buy and the chick started looked absolutely nothing like the breed, and it started showing signs of a rooster. It grew up to be a male cross bred chicken that was completely white and it was seriously mean to the point of leaving scratched on my mom. I wasn't offered anything in return for the mixed bread (which it was supposed to be pure bred Cochin). So at this point I just gave him away and never got chicks from them again. You shouldn't be selling cross breeds for the price of pure bred. My assumption is that he was a blue Cochin mixed with a white silkie.

As a loyal Tractor Supply customer, it was my go-to place for their proprietary brand of dog food. When I visited their local store in Bandera, Texas, I was told the particular type of dog food I normally purchase and which was advertised on their corporate website happened to be on sale with a 20% discount. It was out of stock. I was provided a rain check, however, I needed the food that day and unable to wait an entire week for the shipment to arrive. I asked if the Tractor Supply located 30 miles away would honor the website discount and was informed they should. Much to my surprise, after traveling the 30 miles for one item, I was informed by the store manager that he had never heard of the discount being offered and indeed would not honor my rain check. This, in my opinion is a terrible policy on the part of Tractor Supply. To make matters worse, I contacted the corporate headquarters not once, but twice, promising a communication by the company within 48 hours. It's been weeks, without any communication. Tractor Supply has now lost a good customer and is in need of a standardized policy relating to discounts offered, good at each and every location. Managers and employees need to be authorized to honor discounts being advertised and offered on the Tractor Supply website. Just one more business that most likely will fail in the future...

After waiting about 10 minutes, my dad came out and said the guy was still on the phone and had yet to speak to him. I told my dad to get into the car and we left. Haven't seen customer service this poor in years! We're in Leakey a lot. I won't return to this store.

Despite the increased distance of an extra 26 miles, I decided to give Morales Feed a chance, and I enjoy their customer service, as well as waiting up for me if I'm running several minutes past closing. I cannot check in here, as I don't have cell service in Real County, but this location is really easy to find, about a mile south of Leakey city limits, on the west side of US 83. They carry other brands of grain, hay, tack, cottonseed/deer corn, and most anything else you can think of. The real assets are the strong customer service of Travis and Bill. I'll definitely be coming back in the future.
