At the beginning she did not ask what type of pressure I liked and she did not ask during the massage if the pressure was ok, or if I wanted more. I spoke up and requested more but she did not increase the pressure at all. At the end of the massage she did not ask how I felt. This made me feel like she didn't care about what kind of massage I liked. She was going to do what ever she wanted. She did explain at the end that my muscles responded with tension when she tried to squeeze them so she would've had to go really deep in order to relax them. I have 3 issues with that: 1) duh that's why I requested a deep tissue massage. I've had bruises from massages, albeit weird I like it that hard. 2) every therapist is different, but this technique is not the norm and it should've been explained at the beginning. 3) because this is not the norm, trust needs to built with the client so that they are open to something new. Unfortunately, I will never go back because I believe she will just do what she wants and not what I want or pay for. If she felt like more pressure would've caused damage she could stop the massage. I first came in with two slipped discs in my neck and had little to absolutely no mobility. within three months of weekly treatments I was able to wrestle again and I was able to have complete range of motion in my neck. After my National tournament in 2009 I separated my shoulder and shoulder blade and within a couple of months, Heather was able to fix me so I could go back on the mat.
