There's also one at Northgate Mall. I decided to check this store out. The St. Vital Centre store had a lot of printed images of shoplifters, which dampened my shopping experience. This store doesn't have that vibe. However, there was a sign saying that you are on camera. My guess is that the merchandise is decently priced and cute that it appeals to shoplifters. This store had a lot of cute items. There were a ton of plushies in the back. The baby Winnie the Pooh and Disney plushies were adorable. You can also get fluffy slippers. I saw alligator (or were they crocodile?) ones that were sweet and not intimidating. I like looking at utensil and bento kits. The former seems to stick with the knife-spoon-fork combination. I'd like one with all of them and chopsticks, all in a nice case. I still haven't seen it. I will say that if you are looking for a tote bag, you can find a ton of them here. BT21. Hello Kitty and Friends. Peanuts. I was happy. I got a pink Snoopy tote with him as an astronaut. It had lavender handles. Perfect! I went up to the counter to pay. The female staffer was so sweet and a pleasure to talk to. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was good. She asked if I needed a bag. I had one already from Hot Topic and placed my tote bag in it. I thanked her and left. I used my tote on my trip. It was comfortable over my shoulder and stored my items nicely. I liked visiting this store. I'll be back for more when I'm at this mall. (238)

The final one that I attained was visiting this Indigo store. This one opened after I had moved away from the city. The other two have been established for at least a couple of decades. I visited this one in Kenaston Commons on my last full day being in Manitoba before I headed home. There was lots of parking in front of this bookstore. I parked and looked at how long this building was from the outside. It looked like it had a Starbucks on the left. It was permanently closed. It's sad, as I like the idea of having a cafe at a bookstore. Sip a drink. Read a book. It's the perfect setup that doesn't exist here anymore. It's a cool store. It has everything that your typical Indigo has. The cheap book section is awesome. It has more than books. You can find crafts, such as macrame books, at reduced prices. I enjoyed browsing the cookbooks and food sections. Earls has a book about the franchise and includes recipes. Want to crochet Snoop Dogg? Beyonce? There's a kit for you. I loved looking at the greeting cards. I saw cool cards here, including Grogu. It was my first time seeing pajama sets. They felt so nice. I was impressed. I have a Kobo, but it's over a decade ago. It was cool seeing far more modern Kobo readers. The magazine section stands out. You can sit down and leaf through magazines to your heart's content. It was bright and inviting. The selection was vast and delightful. The washrooms are near the magazines. I used the women's washroom. It was clean and nicely maintained. I ended up getting a few clearance items: - Panda chopsticks - Mr Peel (a veggie peeler) - Measure and mix for making cocktails I lined up to pay for my items. I got the most cheerful woman. She appreciated that I had my Plum barcode ready for her to scan. I paid for my items with a credit card. I tapped and was done. She asked me if I wanted a bag. I was fine carrying my goodies to my vehicle and putting them in my reusable bag. I loved dropping by this store. It's nice to finally say that I've been to all three Indigo stores in Winnipeg. I asked the employee, Adele, to unlock the Pokémon cards for my son. From the very beginning, she acted like we were nothing but a nuisance to her. My kids could feel her attitude, and it dampened their excitement immediately. But what happened next was worse. When we went up to pay, she told us she had sold the cards to someone else -- the very same cards we had just asked her to get for my son. We explained it was his birthday, and instead of any kindness or empathy, her response was basically "too bad." Imagine being 10 years old, holding onto your birthday gift card, excited to finally get something you've been looking forward to, only to have an adult dismiss you like that. My son left the store in tears on his birthday because of how carelessly this situation was handled. Absolutely disgusting behavior from someone working in customer service. Birthdays are supposed to be special -- not ruined by an employee who couldn't be bothered to show an ounce of compassion or professionalism.

Do you need a facial mask that you plop on your face and scare everyone around you? Check. iPhone cases? Yep. Plushies? For sure. Purses and drinkware? Definitely. I liked the handheld fans at this store. It's likely because it was hot every day in Winnipeg that it seemed like a tempting purchase to stay cool. I felt the same way about the umbrellas at this store. It rained at least once a day for the first four or five days that I was in the city. The umbrellas here are manual, so you can fold them down into a compact bundle, but you don't have the convenience of a button to open or close it. I learned while browsing around the store that its merchandise is extremely attractive to shoplifters. This store posted images of shoplifters who looked like they were teenagers or undergraduate students. These images were taken from security camera footage, but the quality of these photos weren't great. Each 8.5" x 11" poster, if you will, said that you're on camera at all times and if you know these people, to report them. Part of me felt for the store owner. Shoplifting is never cool. However, as a customer browsing and stumbling upon at least five of these posters scattered throughout the store, I felt uncomfortable. It was also unfortunate that the photo quality was poor. I wouldn't know any of these shoplifters. Then again, if I did, I likely couldn't make out who these people were because they looked blurry. I didn't take any photos of these posters. I was that uncomfortable. I wanted to get a compact utensil set. I have a few that I love and use, but they aren't cute and practical. I asked a female staffer if there were any sets with chopsticks. Nope. Maybe this store is in a market where the demand for a set with chopsticks isn't there. I got a My Melody fork-spoon set. It's the perfect size for travel or work. The handbags and drinkware were cool. I didn't need any, but you could get them with Hello Kitty and other Sanrio characters on them. I headed to the checkout area to pay for my item. It was an easy transaction. I paid with a credit card. She placed my item in a bag. I thanked her and left. I love this utensil set. The case is pink. You can see the utensils through the top of the case. The handles on the fork and spoon are also My Melody pink. They work well and make eating fun, especially at work where most folks use plastic utensils that are white. I liked visiting this store. Maybe the shoplifting posters need to go on a hall-of-shame wall instead of scattered throughout the store as you browse. I don't know. (277)
