I had to cancel classes due to finding out my husband had cancer and needed treatment. When I asked to put my "membership" on hold. I was told that was not allowed. They just sucked up our money in the end and my kid got the S&#T end of the deal. We were never able to complete anything. But were told if we wanted to come back after he either died or got better, that we could re-enroll at the same $1,500 fee. They ensured it would be very beneficial for our child..... Horrible business, they promise to have scouts at a talent show prep the kids for supposedly a big talent show and no one showed up NYC. The show lasted a few minutes and everyone was disappointed. Our first exposure to JRP was at a local street fair and I chatted with them out of curiosity. They followed up right away and we went to the open call audition. The staff was very friendly but I confess that I found the actual venue/facility to be unimpressive. I understand that location is everything but not what you would expect for a household name. My eldest daughter made the callback (the other one was and is still too young) and I immediately felt comfortable with our scout Megan Tower. We were a little leery at first considering the cost of tuition for even the intro workshop and a number of our friends urged us to be cautious. Megan was very upfront with me when I voiced my concerns over JRP's general online reputation, and that gave me the comfort I needed to sign my daughter up for her first acting class. Here's the thing: everything is up to your child. If your child has the right look, personality, and attitude then most likely things will go well. The training helps prepare them for the audition process but basically a cooperative, patient, and laidback personality (got to be flexible!) is crucial. The best thing I find about JRP San Diego is that Megan and her staff bring in some of the best youth talent agents in Southern California, and once your child is enrolled, there are auditions with those agents almost every two weeks. We showed up to just about every audition and after a few months, we were getting on callback lists and have gone to two major Los Angeles talent agencies for meetings. JRP's staff will also help prepare you for these callbacks. We got our photos done with FACES and Jenn Lewis is amazing and very easy to work with. We also got a lot of support with generating marketing materials, which are essential. We now have resumes, work permits, modeling portfolios, headshots, a monologue, and a handful of commercials ready. FACES also submits your materials and they helped us sign with a SoCal modeling agency, which in turn gave my daughter her first booking on a commercial! I'm glad we took this leap of faith - we are looking forward to experiencing children's runway to complement the two acting workshops we've taken. Tower Talent has been pivotal in growth and development of our 4 year old. They kept his information on file for 1.5 years from our initial visit due to being too young at the current time. When we attended the audition for the school, he volunteered to go on stage and talk. What I saw in this first meeting in how he responded was impressive to me. We were in our 2nd deployment in two years and they were very hard on him. Tower Talent has had and continues to have an enormous impact on his comfort, development and confidence. As a parent, I am very pleased and comfortable with the interactions and handlings of students, classes, competitions and content from their front staff to the instructors to director and photographer. Attend agent days, even if you're uncertain. It's great practice. Each person has their own way of working with people. It's good to be exposed and become more comfortable with the process. Parents, classes and agent days we do not go in. Someone will go with the youth if needed. Kids will act differently (this is good and healthy) when we are not around. The instructors, staff and director are great with helping them work through the nerves and separation. If it's too much for the child, they will come get you. Stay close by. We've attended both INdustry Network and IMTA. Both excellent events!! They are competitions, great exposure and development. Definitely would recommend attending. We are overly pleased with our choice of attending Tower Talent. Remember just like any sport or school, "you only get out what you put in." You or your child's (parents helping with learning and taking them to class) have to work/practice. Everyone learns differently so, do not compare yourself to others if it's not working for you. Our first year with Tower Talent is coming to an end, and, while there are still a few communication glitches, things have improved in that department. We recently received feedback on a couple of auditions, and were even on the callback list for two of them! I notice now that the staff recognizes and greets us when we come in, which is impressive and feels more like a small business than a big industry where you're just a number. My kids are now taking a YouTube class and are enjoying it very much! Scam!!! We went to the audition for my daughter thinking we were trying out for modeling or acting. We ended up sitting there for three hours with a room full of children. They gave us booklet and said we could sign up for the classes which cost anywhere from $1,500-$3500. This is not type of agency gets you nowhere but takes your money. The staff here never return your phone call or email. They encourage you to pay upfront. Once you pay, you never hear from them again. read more

My wife is 26 years young and she wanted to get into the acting and modeling business but didn't know how or where to start. TOWER TALENT RECEIVES A STANDING OVATION I am so glad I kept an open mind upon arriving to Tower Talent Studio West. The experience all began with the woman who booked me by the name of Karen. She was very sweet on the phone and even more wonderful in person. Although I had a feeling that there would be some cost involved, I still wanted to attend the audition, so I had my commercial memorized, headshot/resume in hand, and of course, my open mind. When I first arrived it was pretty much how I expected it do be. There were a lot of people waiting to hear a speaker and then proceed with the auditions and interviews. What I didn't expect was a phenomenal runway and huge open area to rehearse scenes or run lines. Not to mention there are classrooms throughout the different levels of the building. I've been to companies of this kind before, but Tower Talent blows them out of the water. The Director (Ms. Megan Tower) was in the audition room with me while Karen was recording and they provided wonderful feedback to not only myself, but also a few others within our group of 4. If anybody is worried about being shy, just remember everyone else is in the same boat, but everyone working within the company makes you feel very welcome and comfortable. After the audition, I was able to meet with Ms. Dawn Parker who interviewed me and gave me the great news of a callback. So the next day I met with her once again with an even more refined commercial audition and was offered representation. It almost seemed that Dawn was more excited than I was because she immediately had Madyson, who is always working and never goes home :P, take a picture of me. I felt more welcome within Tower Talent Studio West, than I do in my own home at times. Probably because my cat runs the apartment, but that's a different review... Since signing, I've been signed up for auditions with agents, given feedback on my resume, had my photos reviewed, etc... I'm truly glad that I was able to meet with Ms. Jenn Lewis as well, because she was able to talk to me about my first audition and provide feedback. She has since been a huge supporter regarding the layouts of my resume and headshot. What was also great about that meeting was having the opportunity to be introduced to a gentleman by the name of Jim Crawford, who definitely prefers not to be called "Sir" hahaha. It was almost overwhelming having so much knowledge in one room at the same time. Jim is an expert on the modeling and runway side, while Jenn takes pride in some modeling, but mostly the acting portion of the company. So now I've decided to take a class there for audition techniques and let me tell you a little bit about a gentleman by the name of Shewan Howard. His acting techniques class is essential for all stages of actors and a blast to be a part of. I won't give away any parts of his class, but trust me that you want to be there. It's just a way to become comfortable in your own skin and audition in front of somebody before the real deal. I've only been to one class, but I'm definitely excited for next Tuesday. In closing, I've had a tremendous experience within the Tower Talent family and it has only been a little over two weeks. I'm a very motivated individual and I understand the concept "you only get what you put out", but I control my future and am very eager to continue working with Tower Talent to not only accomplish my goals, but most importantly follow through with my dreams. First of all, I want to thank John Robert Powers for what they are doing to help young children to adults pursue a career in Acting, Modeling, Print/Fashion, etc... It's a leap, but it's worth it. At first, I thought that my daughter was not ready for something like this. Even though I hear regular comments like "your daughter is beautiful, does she do print, have you ever thought about getting her into modeling, etc..." I appreciated those comments but really didn't think a lot about it at the time, until one day at the Kids Expo in San Diego, I was approached by a parent (that daughter went to JRP) and she said that I must look into getting her classes with JRP. I just laughed and told my husband what the kind lady said about our daughter, but then I looked at my little girl and said "well its worth a try, let's see what they think about her. GOOD NEWS!!!!...my daughter started classes there in November 2013 and within a month she is with an agency. I am so grateful and humble for the opportunities JRP is providing. I was first introduced to this phenomenal talent academy when my cousin urged me to audition. I did theatre all four years back in high school, and took ballet and hip hop classes growing up. However as a college freshman, I still wanted to continue the education and training within the spectrum of the arts. And being the studious, hard-working individual I am, I prioritize my education and am relieved to know that JRP is flexible with schedules and also acknowledges educational priorities. I am currently enrolled in Devin Hennessy's TV & Film Acting class on Saturday afternoons. So far, two sessions have occurred, but it feels like I have learned so much. My 9 year old grand daughter was invited to an audition for a commercial. She was very excited when they e mailed 4 scripts she could choose from in her age group. She practiced and went with her Father to the audition. After a few hours wait she was able to audition and was told she did very well and if the Dad would drive her to Los Angeles if she was one of the chosen. They were to call the next day, which they did and left a message. Later they did receive the phone call and here comes the sales pitch. 8 acting lessons for $800.00.... There was no audition for a legit commercial. just a way to get a sale for so called acting lessons. This agency scams the kids to get them in then hits the parents for money. The scripts were for the Disney Channel, Build a Bear and Pizza Hut. I wonder if these companies know they are being used to scam families! WHAT A JOKE.. read more

I have two boys 13/10 that have been taking classes at Tower Talent, Studio West since October 2015 and they LOVE going to classes. Mimi at the front desk is a sweetheart, Jenn and Valente are absolutely great and of course Megan. They have enjoyed working with Mr. Shawan and Mr. Crawford. We have experienced the best results I could have imagined here at Tower, but not every child/family will have the same experiences. We have about six other family friends that now attend Tower for their acting/talent school. The only thing I would have to say not 100% positive would be the lack of time management. I clearly asked if there was anything to buy like a membership of any type or other some sort of catch. They say no! it was just an Audition to perform, in front of the producers for an opportunity of a lifetime. First the get you to bring your children to Perform in front of everyone. they brain wash your kids with all the movie posters in which seems to be temporarily placed using scotch tape around the walls. For me most of the office surroundings seems to be placed like a hit and run business type. Then in order to you to get you to retun and in a way to release them from certain liabilities. They say that only a few will be chosen and ask you to call them back next day for another audition. We called and went back. Surprise! there were no producers! and they flip it on you about caring for the future of your kids and that nothing is free in life. Voila! Deceived! Dude people! This place is a scam! I came in and auditioned and supposedly they wanted me. I was told I would come in for a second audition but come to find out I never auditioned. Dawn was the woman I spoke to my second time coming in there and she told me straight forward that I needed to pay minimum of 500$ to hAve her book me auditions. This place is such a scam and their job is to get people in and take their money. They don't care. Oh and "house of representatives" ummm no! Dude a legit agency will never ever EVER make you pay upfront. They will have you sign a contract and will only take a certain percentage from you between 10-30% if you get the booker job. I love JRP! Words can't even describe it. Many see it as an opportunity to be a big star, which is great and JRP is more than capable of doing so, but JRP prepares you for life. With the confidence classes, acting seminars and runway I have been able to shape myself in a confident young women. I can't express how successful I've been in job interviews and clubs/associations. She has taken the acting class and was coming home memorizing monologues and I got to see her class perform! She loved Ms. Angie. The staff is very friendly and helpful. My daughter Vivien loves the Audition Techniques class she is currently taking at Tower Talent. The advice given to us by Megan and Jenn has been excellent. In addition she and the other girls had a BLAST at the Faces photo shoot that Jenn coordinated for us. Yes, it is expensive, however, it is worth every penny. Jenn helps you select outfits, and the photographer has someone to do hair and makeup. They changed her hairstyle for each outfit. Best of all, Vivien had a callback after just her second audition and signed a contract last week! It's only been 4 months since she started her acting classes. Scam!!! No idea how they have so many stars. They make you pay $500 for an audition "membership". No real agency charges up front. If they were reputable they just take a cut from whatever you make. They tell you that you're coming in for an audition, give everyone a "callback" to come in the next day and in the brochure are all the prices listed, the cheapest one being the $500 audition membership. So they will only represent you if you get the membership. Such a waste of time. Our child started at Tower Talent, I guess around early 2018 through the audition process. Did so well, we ended up registering them for classes, and by June of '18 our child ended up landing LA talent agents after performing at their Industry Network event in LA. First and foremost, Tower Talent is an acting/modeling school, that HOSTS agents and auditions biweekly/monthly. It seems that's their recruitment process and would do well to market that better. They have different pricing for classes and it can get expensive. On top of hidden fees. No reputable talent agency takes money up front(which TT does NOT, if you sign up you're paying for classes) from people and I think Tower needs to rework this better, as it makes their initial process look shady. They're not, and like I said our child landed Hollywood agents. That said, our child is not a big star now...and that's not how it works. However, our child landed auditions for General Hospital, Wes Anderson, Nickelodeon, CW, Disney, PBS networks as well as auditions for a Taco Bell commercial, all taking place in LA. I would not pay for classes unless you've gotten professional feedback that your child has true talent, as Tower can get expensive but, I will say we have no regrets getting our child involved. read more

Great classes my daughter loved the modeling class. If you are an adult over the age of 20, I suggest attending during the weekday. I attended the Saturday class. The instructor was great, however due to the fact that there were a lot of young teen girls classes often got side tracked. I mentioned this to the lady at the front desk and she recommended I going on Wednesday. Due to my work schedule I couldn't do that. However, staff was very friendly and accommodating. I've been dealing with Tower Talent for years. I'm a client and booker and use their models for all of my castings. They are super responsive and their models are top rate. I like the fact that their models get trained in posing, runway and professional behavior. It's important for any professional model to get the training needed to make their career shine. Usually my budget is small so I use "new faces". Many of their models go onto signing with a professional agency and that's great! Just keep in mind that just because you go to a school doesn't make you a model. That goes for Tower Talent as well. You have to have the look AND the training. Also, I like the fact that they respond quickly to castings. I have a booking for next week and their staff immediately set up a casting for me and I know I will find some great models to fill my needs.
